My DS is going to be 4 in August while we are at DL. Can you tell me what the best character lunch would be for him? Any other birthday ideas in or near the parks? Thanks!

You can do any character meal and it will be wonderful. When we celebrated my DS's 7th birthday we did the Birthday celebration with Pat E. Cake at the Plaza Inn. It was $10 per person and we each got a plastic cup/straw filled with fruit punch. Everyone also got a cake to decorate with frosting and sprinkles. We had the grandparents and some friends with us too and all of us had a great time. Mickey and Minnie came to take pictures with all the guests and when you purchase the pictures they can change the date on the picture to reflect the actual birthday if you want.

Be sure to get your birthday badge/sticker so all the cast members say Happy Birthday! The kids love this!!!!!!!

The Pat E. Cake celebration at Plaza Inn is so much fun. My daughter still talks about that party. I also recommend Goofy's Kitchen. For a little bit extra you can order a really neat birthday bucket. All the characters come and sing for the birthday honoree!

I wanted to say also to get a Birthday Sticker at City Hall as soon as you get to Disneyland. The last time I was there with my birthday boy, he managed to collect about 6 different stickers saying Happy Birthday from different cashiers as well. He never asked, but once he got the second one, people just thought he was collecting them and starting giving them to him. He was COVERED in them and got soooo much attention. The person loading Small World specifically let us go in a front row seat, he got special attention during the parade, and he was wished Happy Birthday by the folks giving ride instructions a few times. It made him feel so special and popular, you can't beat it.

We also did the Pat E Cake party, and it was terrific. He was 7 and thought he was too cool for it, but Pat was wonderful about it and I have the funniest picture of them together in a "Rap Star" pose looking cool. The $10 included a drink and a little cake with frosting for each person to decorate their own. I thought it was a little expensive but lots of fun, so worth it.

Sounds like the Pat E. Cake celebration is one that my DS would love. Now, do you make ressies ahead of time for that and how far in advance can you make them?

Call the Disney Dining Number 714-781-3463 to get a reservation for the Plaza Inn party (or any other dining ps' for that matter). I think it is around 45 days out but sometimes they can do sooner. They have two birthday parties a day with alot of seating so you should have no problem. Have fun!
