YAAAY!! My son and I are planning a trip for just the two of us for his 16th birthday gift, and we are going April 30th through May 4th! We got the quick-service Dining Plan but I would like to arrange at least one nice meal at a place he would really like, and get an idea of how those of you with teens this age do Disney! Any tips would be greatly appreciated! TIA!!

We are staying at Coronado Springs and doing HS, MK, & Epcot!!:mickeyjum

My son's favorite meals at Disney restaurants have been the following: Spice Road Table, Teppan Edo (Hibachi), 50s Prime Time (fun and full of teen-friendly food), and Biergarten (buffet with German oompa band). That said, Sci-Fi looks like a fun, affordable option, but we've never been. Have a great trip! So nice that the two of you will have a special getaway together!

Without knowing what your son likes and dislikes, it seems impossible to provide any recommendations.

My daughter is 16, so I will give you a couple of her favorites. For casual, fun she loves doing either Splitsville or the AMC Dine-In Theater at Disney Springs. I would suggest these on maybe arrival day if you are not going straight to the parks. If you are going for a big premier or popular movie, I suggest getting on AMC's website and pre-ordering your seats. For a more sit down dining experience she likes Sci-Fi and Whispering Canyon, which are both still kind of campy fun. For more traditional sit down she loves Boma, Le Cellier, and Be Our Guest.

He is very easygoing and is just happy to be going so it's wide open. Not impossible! He would probably prefer to steer clear of princess-related events....or maybe not lol.

Hmmmm never heard of sci fi! Will have to check it out!

My teen son has requested Sanaa. He loves animals and is pretty excited about the savannah being right there. My teen daughter asked for steak - she doesn't really care where. We've pretty much settled on Coral Reef for her choice.

I'm going to have to consider adding Teppan Edo - he loved eating there a few years back and he still likes hibachi experiences a lot (very fascinated with cooking).

all those sound delicious!! He's not a real big eater so I think Hoop di Doo is the best bet for him because it's mostly about the experience!

My son (15) has requested Sanaa as well (he is big into animals and has ideas of becoming a zoo keeper). My daughter (17, 18 by our trip) is requesting 1900 Park Fare, Ohana (the character meal), Tusker House and maybe Akerhaus.

HAHAHA Well...Hoop De Doo wasn't a hit. He really liked the look of Sci Fi. I wish there was some sort of party going on when we go down we can do!!

What about a behind the scenes tour? Several of them are 16+ only so it may be special now that he would be allowed to do it.

OOOOH that's An idea! I'm going to try to find more info on that! Thank you!

I was going to suggest the same. We're on a Disney hiatus until DD's 16th birthday (unless she ends up performing in Orlando as part of her many groups that go on trips places to perform) so that we can do one of the tours that goes through the utilidors under the Magic Kingdom.

As far as restaurants, she has some favorites that would be on the list - 'Ohana, Les Chefs de France, and Tony's (it was her first Disney restaurant, and she still has a sentimental fondness).
