birthday treat for DIL

During our trip to WDW in August it will be my DIL's birthday.

DS & DDIL are going to V & A's on her birthday and DH and I will be babysitting the girls (our 3 DGD's) for them.

I was thinking of taking her to GF garden view room a couple of days later for afternoon tea, and the girls will do something with DS and DH (probably mini golf and pizza)

but.....I have read some negative reviews of afternoon tea at the GF and wonder if anybody has any opinions about it.......or any other suggestions for just us 2 ladies .....don't really fancy a spa treatment.....unless anyone knows of any really special ones.........

I can't advise you on the GF tea. But I could not resist pointing out that you are the kind of MIL who only exists in most people's wildest dreams! What a wonderful and thoughtful treat. Your DIL (and no doubt your DS too) are going to be SOOOO touched by this. I just had to tell you that while we wait for someone with some good advice to post on here.

I think it's a lovely idea! We took DH there for his birthday last year and had a wonderful afternoon In fact I tried to book again for his birthday this year, and was told they had nothing available for our whole stay!
Luckily, I queried it here on the boards, and was told you can usually just walk up if you can't get a booking (though I will try again nearer the date!)
The atmosphere is really serene, and it's just nice to get away from all the hustle and bustle for a while. Oh, and DD's and I were all given a beautiful rose each, and they lasted untill the end of our hol (a week!)

That is such a lovely idea, just go for it and do it! to be honest ignore the negative reviews as there will no doubt be more positive than negative for the grand floridian,
your dil is such a lucky girl

I also wanted to point out what a wonderful MIL you are. I am lucky I even get a "Happy Birthday"; afterall, I am the one that took her baby away. Sorry, I digress. Very sweet woman. I think the tea is a perfect idea. You will find people that have negative reviews about anything. There were also many positive reviews about the tea as well. Another option is a fireworks cruise. Although, it wouldn't be for the two of you but it could still be very nice.

What a lovely, thoughtful idea, can I be your DIL lol. Its a long time since I went there, but I really enjoyed it, it was spur of the moment for us, when it started pouring down at the MK. I think its a wonderful girly thing to do and I am sure your daughter in law would love it - enjoy.

I thought the afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian was lovely.

However, if you did change your mind regarding a spa treatment - we went to the Mandara Spa at the Swan/Dolphin - it is a really beautiful spa and I thoroughly enjoyed the treatments on offer.

Either one I am sure you DIL will be chuffed to bits at her treat
