birthday party on mother's day?

I think I may be one of few but, I am so over Mother's Day. It turns into such a chore.

I am all for just having a normal day. A party would not bother me one bit.

I agree. To me, it's another Hallmark holiday.

It would be fine with me. I think Mother's Day is a Hallmark holiday. We don't do much and I'd be perfectly OK with my kid going to the party.

I agree. Mother's Day is pretty much "any other Sunday" at my house. I don't do Hallmark holidays.

My kid would be going without a second thought...

I would never host a child's birthday party on Mother's Day because it may limit who can attend. If I were in town and my family didn't have plans, I'd absolutely let my child go to one, though.

Our son's birthday is Thursday. We're doing his birthday party Friday night, not so much to avoid Mother's Day, but because this time of the year, we have soccer games on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Like others have said, if the party doesn't interfere with your plans for the day, let them go. If you already have plans, tell them your child can't come. It's really that simple.
