Is it just me? My DH's family is driving me crazy with B-day parties. I love the parties for the children in our family but once you are over 21 shouldn't the big bashes be held once in a great while? Everytime someone in his family has a 0 or a 5 at the end of their age there has to be a big party at a banquet hall or restaurant. This is not including me or my DH because we don't want that fuss and money spent on us. His brother-in-law threw his wife ( my DH's sister) a big surprise birthday party on her 30th, 35th and 40th birthdays. She in turn threw him big parties on his 30th and 40th. These are not parties at home but at expensive restaurants--( think showy). We gave DH's mom an expensive party for her 70th that I was glad to do but this year she is turning 80 and no one asked us what we would like to do for her -just we are having a party, fork over the $. She knows about the party and made her guest list which includes 60 people! I personally don't like to be the center of attention and I have told my DH if he wants to do something big for my birthday take me on a great vacation. I love a big party when it is for a holiday such as New Years, Christmas, 4th of July or a suprise birthday once,ect... when the purpose is to get together with family and friends to have a good time. Too many parties for the same people gets tacky! Thanks for reading my rant. I needed to unload!!
