It will be my husband's 35th birthday while we are in Disney and I'd like to surprise him with a nice lunch or dinner while we are there. We've not been to any sit down restaurants in Disney except for Alfredo's (gone :sad2:), Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace. He's a picky eater- usually gets a burger and fries and doesn't care for seafood. We have 2 kids ages 5 and 2 so I'm looking for a family friendly place rather than a romantic couples place (although I think most places in Disney are family friendly).

Any suggestions from those of you who are avid diners in the World would be greatly appreciated! :goodvibes

Hmm... burgers and fries... I would agree with the previous poster who said 50s Prime Time, or for some reason Ohana dinner popped into my head. I've never had dinner there, and it might be a bit too adventurous for your husband.

I think the only place we've been to that had burgers on the menu is Sci Fi Dine-In. It's a fun experience if you've never been.

Yes Sci Fi if he likes burgers and fries. The kids will love sitting the cars. My kids have requested this for our upcoming trip. I asked them if they remembered if the food was good and they said no but they do remember sitting the cars. :rotfl:

I'm hoping to try Sci Fi too. But what about LeCellier? Does he like a good steak? I'm pretty sure there are burgers too.
I'd check out some of the resort restaurants. I've only really eaten at Ohana and Chef Mickeys, but I have read some good reviews on others.

Beaches and Cream would be good, but they don't take ADRs.

I was looking at Sci Fi and it looks really fun :goodvibes
He does like a good steak so I think I'll look into LeCellier too. I'm reading up on all the menus to see what he might like as far as food goes. I also want a fun place too.

Thanks everyone!

'Ohana would be my choice but if he is a meat and french fry person, Sci-Fi would be great fun. 50's Prime Time would be good also.

I agree with Sci-Fi or LeCellier. Sci-Fi for a fun casual place. Or LeCellier for a little more upscale feel with better choices. We have taken our kids to both and they love them both! :goodvibes

Another place we tried this January and really liked was the Big River Grille on the Boardwalk. A very neat atmosphere and it is not Disney owned, so there are some different choices on the menu!

Thanks Shelly! I didn't think to look at restaurants at the resorts.:goodvibes

I think it's between Sci Fi and Big River Grille! Both have your classic burger but dh might like to get a cold beer at Big River Grille. Heck I might like a beer depending on how the kids behave in the parks that day! :lmao:

We were pleasantly surprised by BRG. And it is on our list for next time! I think a lot of people overlook it because they do not take ADR's. I had a huge plate of beef nachos and it was so good! It was just a nice change from the stuff we had been eating all week. Like I said, they do not take ADR's. We went on a Saturday night around 5:00 though and got in with no problem! We really enjoy the atmosphere of the whole Boardwalk, so eating there was very nice!

Here is my review and pics of BRG ~ http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2079590&page=17

Big River Grill is also a great suggestion. We love their meatloaf. They do not take reservations but depending on the time you go it is generally not too bad. As it is on The Boardwalk, you can always give your name and if there is a wait - you can check out The Boardwalk.

I've never ventured over to the boardwalk so it would be a good excuse to check it out :thumbsup2

It is a great place, fun and romantic! You can walk there through the back entrance/exit of Epcot or take a boat from Epcot or DHS. While you are there you can check out the shops and all the great deluxe hotels in the area! :goodvibes

Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue is fun for the whole family. They serve fried chicken, mashed potatoes, ribs, baked beans, and strawberry shortcake. We loved it and they do celebrate birthdays there.
