Birthday meal suggestion

We will be in California for 10 days in July. On the 14th, we will celebrate my son's 13th birthday. I have tentatively planned a coastal bike tour in La Jolla that day at his request. Does anyone have a suggestion for a fun restaurant we can visit for dinner? It doesn't have to be in La Jolla as we are staying on Shelter Island. TIA!

There is a 50's diner called Corvette's at Liberty Station that is fun for kids and is not too far from Shelter Island.

Food is fairly good, but the building is great on the inside.
