Birthday gift suggestions

Help! My son's 16th birthday is fast approaching and I really need some suggestions on what to give him. Any ideas?

a car?? Thats what I got for my 16th and what I will do for my daughters....

How about driving lessons
It not only is a gift for him it will help lower your insurance when the time comes

Ha Ha a new car!!!! No way! He will take drivers ed plus I will pay for driving lessons (I did this for my daughter). This momma's way too nervous a passenger even with good drivers!

I was thinking an I-Pod but don't know the first thing about them. He runs cross country and track, would he be able to use it while running?

Not a new one...a used one! I didn't get a new one either LOL...I am spacing the years in between new cars right now enough so that once my daughter turns 16 it will be time for ME to buy a new one and she will get my used one LOL!

The deal in this house for the kids is that we will buy a used car that is around 2 years old. The catch though is that they save up the down payment and pay part of the loan payment, We will pay the other part of the payment, plus the insurance and any of the matainence. Our logic is that if they spend their money to get a car they will take driving a little more serious. So far it has worked with my daughter.
