Birthday Dinners! Do you do them?

Oh, yes!

My favorite birthday traditions, though, were started by my mother. She always allowed us to eat Birthday Cake for breakfast the day after. That was a real treat for a kid.

Oh my Gosh, Claudia, that is one of our birthday traditions too--and hands down, my kids' favorite one.

Oh yes, we did this in our family. I would usually choose ribs, Dad would choose linguini with clam sauce and lemon meringue pie, and Mom usually some sort of seafood as well. In fact, my parents were here this last weekend and will be back in 3 weekends for my birthday and my mom asked, "What do you want for your birthday dinner?" I'm not sure yet!!! :p I wish I could have some Kona Cafe spring rolls, with their Asian slaw and some Ohana wontons, but that ain't gonna happen. :( And maybe a Mcieky bar for dessert. :D

We do this in our family, too. Some of the time it is a home cooked meal, some of the time we go out (birthday person chooses restaurant). Birthdays in our family lasts for several days, however... especially if it falls on a weekend. Then we invoke the "birthday weekend" clause and celebrate all weekend! ;)

Next year... we're planning to be in The World on my birthday! I can't waiit!!!! :jumping3: :jumping3: :jumping3: :jumping3: :jumping3:

We go out to eat and the kid gets to pick wherever they want to go. Usually it is McDonald's because their Dad hates it and will never eat their normally. As they get older they are getting more upscale.

My DH sister, brother-in-law and I go out for dinner when it is one of our birthday. Birthday person picks the place. We have stopped exchanging gifts and do this instead.

As a child the b'day person got to pick the dinner meal and I have carried the tradition on with my kids.. Today is DS#1's b'day and he wants beef stew, salad, garlic bread and chocolate fondue with fresh strawberries, pinapple and pound cake..

DS#2 likes lasgna or homemade pizza and french silk pie.. DH like any kind of pasta and homemade ice cream ..

I like to be taken out since there isn't anyone at home to make my meals:teeth:

My Kids chose a favorite homemade dinner or go out to dinner. their all time favorite is...Breakfast cereal. I don't buy sugar cereals. They get to pick ANY cereal they want for their birthday. DD2 just turned 11 and the cereal was Lucky Charms. Which lasted her for 2 weeks.
