I need some help, please!! My DS will be turning 11 on our trip to DW in August. Where should we have dinner. We are not doing the DDP, but will dine anywhere. He does not like characters bothering him. We just want a good, fun place to eat. Anywhere on Disney Property is fine.
He says he would like to go to the Sci-Fi Diner, but that is just burgers and sandwiches. (UGG--we can get that for lunch anyday). We thought maybe Ohana might be fun (have read mixed reviews about this place)
Any suggestions would be helpful. I would like to make ADR's for this one night and maybe order a cake.

Hoop Dee Doo is a show without characters. We are going there for a boy and girls 13th birthday at their request. they have been before.

I like Ohana's although there menu has been changing and I think it used to be better. If possible schedule for during MK fireworks and you can see them from the windows.

I have celebrated many Disney Bdays (mine and others)

We have dined at ohana's,wispering canyon, chef mickey's,boma, park fare, cinderella's table and crystal palace.

My cousin's little boy (and our family of 15) had a blast at Wsipering canyon...the cm's were great!

They all do the cupcake thing...I got a cake at Boma but am unsure if it was the norm-it was the best cake-shaped like mickey!

Most will sing but you can ask not.

Feel free to ask for any specifics! Have fun!

If you are looking for a fun place to eat without characters 50's is perfect...

when you eat there, you are all the kids, and your waiter is usually your cousin (there is probably a thread about 50's)

i celebrated my 21st birthday there last year and had a blast, they did the cupcake thing but when you eat there, you are part of the family and the food is sooo yummy!!!

If he doesn't want characters bothering him maybe you could try the Coral Reef. Set up in advance for a diver to hold up a Happy Birthday banner in the aquarium for him and then he will know it is his birthday dinner but didn't have to be bothered too much. at that age sometimes they don't want abunch of people making a scene. ha-ha but who wouldn't think it was neat to have a scuba diver holding up a sign for you!

I hope you enjoy whatever you choose!!! And have a great trip!:thumbsup2
