I'm planning on spending my 60th birthday at DW. I'd like to do something special for myself. I thought about one of the table service restaurants like the Coral Reef, but that seems sooooooooo expensive! For those of you who have eaten at a place like the Coral Reef, could you tell me what is included with the entree? Is a salad included or is it entirely a la carte?

Thanks!

Vicki

Coral Reef is not special IMO. Very noisy, slow service. I like it okay, have eaten here at least a half dozen times, but I wouldn't pick it for a special meal.

Also the portions at Coral Reef are smaller than almost any other TS at WDW. It's fine for me, I'm a small eater, but some people are disappointed in the serving sizes. You will not get a salad unless you pay for one and their starters here are pretty small, even by my standards.

pretty much every table service restaurant at WDW is a la carte, nothing comes with salad/soup/etc, except for a buffet. if you want to do something really special, try going to Boma (less expensive at lunch than at dinner) with lots of choices and definitely a special experience. It's a buffet so everything is included in the one price (not alcoholic drinks though!)

I just thought of another one for you - if you like epcot, try the beirgarten in germany. the food is great and it is also buffet so everything is included in the one price. also the entertainment and atmosphere is fun.

Salad won't be included with the entree. A salad at an a la carte restaurant is generally considered an appetizer and is ordered and paid for separately. The only thing included with an entree is whatever side is listed with the entree on the menu. Any separate sides will also cost more.

I am also not sure what you are looking for in a special meal, but the atmosphere in Coral Reef has lately been more like a playground than a restaurant, as children are generally given carte blanche to run around the restaurant and look at the fish tanks.

Personally unless you are going to eat a lot, I would say the buffets may work out to be more expensive than the a la carte restaurants, depending on what you order. The prices on WDW buffets and all you can eat restaurants have risen rather steeply in the past couple of years.
