Birthday Celebration

We'll be at the Boardwalk Villas for my 8-year-old daughter's birthday. Will DVC do anything special for her if I call ahead to tell them this? Someone told me that they might put something fun in the room, like confetti or a card. Has anyone had any experience with this?

My son got balloons and a card from Mickey when we stayed at the GF once.

You'll have to make sure to get a birthday button at the parks. Each park has it's own button and you can pick them up at Guest Relations. It's fun to have all sorts of people wish you a happy birthday because you have on the button. The buttons are free.

We have been for my sons birthday twice. Both times we mentioned it to the check in cast member and both times when we got back from the parks in the evening there was an autographed photo (1 pluto and 1 goofy) with balloons waiting in the room. He was so excited!! Definitely get a button at the parks also. People were wishing him a happy birthday all day!

My wife called and told BWV that I was having a birthday and my favorite princess was Snow White. After getting back from the parks I had an autographed Snow White picture with a lipstick kiss on it... Turns out the wife put the kiss on the photo while I was in the bathroom, but good humor none the less. I've got that 5x10 framed in my office now.

Personally if I wanted somethig special for a birthday I'd order something from Disney Florist. I think for as many people that get something in their room, there are just as many who do not. Just depends on the CM at the time. From reading these boards over the years, it seems to be pretty hit and miss.

Still mention it, but this way if you do find something special in the room, it'll just be a bit more magical.

I ordered flowers from Disney Florist for my wife's BDay. When we returned to our room (at OKW) the flowers were waiting along with a handful of additional balloons and an autographed card from one of the characters (Mickey or Minnie--can't remember which.)

I also ordered a cake for our dinner that night at Le Cellier. It was an 8" cake designed to feed 8-10 people. 8" sounds small, but the portions were HUGE after they sliced the cake. They let you choose the flavor of cake and frosting and personalize the greeting.

A group of CMs brought the cake out after dinner along with a card that was personally signed by 15-20 CMs working at the restaurant.

The cost was $25 but they applied our DDE discount taking the price down to $20. So from a dollars and cents POV, for $2.50 per person I bought dessert for everyone in our party. The cake was excellent and it was well worth the price.

We got a very nice cake and the table was decorated with confetti at Liberty Tree Tavern when we ate there for our son's birthday. The cake was about $12.
