Yesterday DD9 and I went to DLR (along with tons of others-most local schools were closed yesterday!:crowded:) with our neighbors who were celebrating DD's 6th birthday. We all have AP. Her mom wasn't going to get her free birthday gift since she had read that she needed her DD's birth certificate to get it and didn't bring it. I told her that that didn't make sense since her DD was already in the system with her birthday, Jan. 30, 2003.

I convinced her to try anyway and since we were at DCA we went to Guest Services there. It was a great idea. :goodvibes Yes, they could process her free gift without a birth certificate and without the email from Disney (the mom hadn't entered it online in time). The CM took the info, went into the back for a minute or so, and then gave the mom the gift. She opted for the free ticket which she will upgrade to an AP when their passes expire. So therefore she'll get $59 off her next AP. She's going to do the same thing next week for her 11 y/o DD. Since she's an adult, she'll get $69 off. When we got to GS there was no line and when we left there were only a few guests in line. So, if you have an AP, I recommend DCA v.s. DL.

Also, I asked the CM about So Cal residents who qualify getting the "Twofer" ticket deal if their birthday falls during the qualifying time period and she said "No" Guests will only get a tix good for one park, one day. I've read other info on these boards so I wanted to check. Now it may be that the CM was wrong-if I wasn't an AP holder and my birthday qualified, I would totally ask for the "Twofer"

FYI My same neighbor took her other DD11 yesterday (Fri.) and got a CM who wasn't real happy with doing the Birthday Fun Card without a birth certificate. She explained that she had just done it 6 days before for her other DD6 and she said the CM wasn't happy about it and kept asking her, and her daughter, her birthdate. She also didn't believe her when she said they had registered online but hadn't received a confirmation. So, be forewarned-different CMs, different response.

Personally, I'm not comfortable carrying around an original birth certificate, or notarized copy, at the park. :confused3

I did have one thought-my neighbor's kids have really old pictures on their AP. They're at least 3 years old.:confused3 It may be that the 11 y/o looked so different that the CM questioned it. Just to be sure, I would have a current photo on you kid's AP. Personally, I like having a current picture each time-makes it more of a souvenir. You can see how your kid changes thru the years.:goodvibes

Good to know. I got my emails last week (my bday and DD's are this week!!) and have them printed out and ready to go. I wondered about verifying DD's birthday, since she's had an AP for 9 years, ever since she turned 3! I would think that would be sufficient, but whatever. I'll bring either her birth certificate or her passport just to be sure.

Too bad both our birthdays are midweek! She's missed several days of school ill last month, so I don't feel like I can pull her out this week. So we'll go after school on Wednesday for me and again after school for her Thursday! Kind of a pain with an hour drive each way... but also nice for the two of us to spend the time together. Although I've already told her she has to do her homework in the car as we drive!

I just renewed all our passes last month, so I want to get the funcards instead. I'd probably lose them if I had to hold onto them for another 11 months. :rotfl: I'm glad the funcards don't have to be all used on the one day. So does that mean I can spend say, $45 on a sweatshirt Wednesday, and use the remaining $24 at some future point?

Does anyone know if the funcards have to be retrieved inside the park? We had planned on our first day in the parks being my DD b-day, but my DH's work schedule changed, so now we will be arriving in Anaheim the afternoon of DD's b-day. So our first day inside the park will be the day after. I was wondering if there is a way to get her the funcard so she can spend it in DTD? TIA

My DD9 has done her homework several times while driving home. She loves it when I let her turn on the ligh in back, even though I tell her it's like driving around in a fishbowl! :rotfl2:

That's my understanding. From all I have heard

I would think so-I assume you have AP. You should be able to take care of it at the ticket booth. Worst case scenario, if you can't, is you go in the park just to take care of it.

We went down for partner's b'day on the 27th (just went down for dinner) and got his fun card at the ticket booth. At 6:00 there wasn't much of a line at all!

Does anyone know if you have to print out the email. or can you just go and show your id and get the funcard?
