Birthday Cake & Cafe Mickey

Just wondered where the best place was to get a Birthday Cake.

I noticed that in Inventions they seemed to be giving out Chocolate Tortes and in Cafe Mickey it looked like it was a yellow iced birthday cake.

I thought that it was all the same but it appears not!

Also do you reckon Cafe Mickey would be quieter at lunchtime rather than in the evening? Would love to dine there but the noise level would put some of my party off dining there!!

I had a cake at Cafe Mickey and it was a chocolate cake. It was surrounded by smarties and was very nice. The cakes they use seem to change frequently. I've seen quite a few different cakes served at Cafe Mickey.

Cafe Mickey is quieter for lunch, but it's not as fun!

Hi, i have booked a cake for my dd 4th birthday in November at cafe mickey when i called to book and pay for it they asked me if i wanted Chocolate or raspberry sponge cake, i chose Chocolate i think it costs £22.

as for the noise level it is definitely more noisy in the evening. i like to dine in relative peace so evenings are out for me. my three year old wont go back there in the evening either, she hated the level of noise. so i would say that that into consideration if it would affect some in your party

a lot of people seem to prefer the evening for the atmostphere, we ate once at 6pm. it was really busy and only three characters got to us for a quick pic and that was it, no interaction at all. now we could have just been unlucky but that was our experience

When we ordered birthday cake at Cafe Mickey last year, the CM at City Hall told me it was chocolate - but when it was presented at the restaurant, it was the yellow iced sponge one . It was a lovely experience though, well worth it - and yes, it would be much quieter at lunchtime than in the evening Fiona .

I think you were unlucky with your evening experience Sonya, as I always go in the evening, and see at least 6, and have seen as many as 12, characters at our table in Cafe Mickey. But if you don't like noise, don't go to Cafe Mickey in the evening - its always busy, and its always noisy lol!

We had a cake at Cafe Mickey's last week, my Mother-in-Laws 70th. It was Chocolate with the chocolate curls all round, very nice but way sickly for me.

We went for dinner, 6.30, loads of characters, busy and noisy but great fun

We don't want to eat the cake for dessert (we like the look of the desserts there ) and we'd be travelling back on the Eurostar in the evening. Would like to bring it home if possible.

Also - which cake is better? Sponge or chocolate? I've seen photos of the yellow iced one but does the chocolate one have any disney on it?

Did you get the whole cake on the table or did they bring you slices?? also did you get to take the rest away with you??

At Cafe Mickey you definitely get the whole cake, and you can ask for it to be boxed to take away with you when you leave the restaurant .

when we had DDs cake at cafe mickey it was the sponge iced one and they gave us a box to take it home and even gave us the candles. We brought it home on the plane - hand luggage only and managed to fit it in the suitcase.

I had one at Inventions (a different trip) and that was the yummy chocolate mousse type cake but they said they couldnt give us a box to take it away for health and safety reasons instead they gave us a glass pate to take it away on (we were staying in DLH though)

Ours was fine, we got the box for it and i carried it in a carrier as hand luggage along with the soft toys we bought

I tried to make sure it stayed flat at all times but hubby lay the carrier side ways for a few secs, the cake was ok tho phew

weired i would have thought the glass plate would have had saftey reasons.

Think i'll be coming home from DLP 10 stone heavier lol.

We're going by Eurostar so bringing it back in one piece shouldn't be an issue (I hope!!!)

i was thinking of pretending it was DD's birthday and getting a cake as a surprise for her - she's always wanted to be in DLP for her birthday but its never been possible unfortunately. I remember reading somewhere thats its cheaper to pay for your cake before your trip - is that right or did I dream it?

Not sure but i paid £22 for my sons cake and i pre-booked it with our meal plans. Im pretty sure when we got the bill/receipt at cafe mickeys it had 24E
