Anyone done this? I was thinking about ordering a cake for my DD 13th birthday at 1900 Park Fare breakfast on her actual birthday. Is it silly to have cake at breakfast? Also, will waiters sing to her like at non-Disney restaurants?

I was *given* a birthday muffin (with frosting, so counts as a cake, right?) at TH breakfast. Not silly! Was extra fun to have cake for breakfast on my actual birthday, and I was 35, so, at 13, even better!

Birthday cake at a character meal at Disney is great! We're at WDW every year for my bday, and they always give me a cupcake if we're at a TS meal. At character meals I always see many others celebrating with a cupcake, too. So it isn't unusual at all.

Is your kid ok with that? It would seriously be my worst nightmare. I don't even frequent places that do it.

Just now, on a different Thread (and quite often), I suggested Plaza Ice Cream (and Mickey Bars) for QS breakfast.

I fully support having birthday cake for breakfast.

Everyone can be a child while enjoying their Disney vacation!

Years ago we had a cake at Crystal Palace for breakfast for my nephew's birthday. I don't think they even bat an eye at a request like that. I say go for it and celebrate!!

We celebrated a birthday at H&V breakfast for our friends' daughter. Her mom ordered a specialty cake for her and we all sang and ate cake off of Frozen plates they brought with them. I didn't think it was out of place at all.

Some Disney restaurants sing with available wait staff/ surrounding guests, some don't. I don't have any experience with 1900 for a bday.

I asked DD14's opinion and she approves the plan:thumbsup2

Go ahead & order the cake!

As for singing, unlike non-Disney restaurants, these folks deal with a never-ending string of celebrations, one after the other, and likely won't have the time to acknowledge each one personally. Don't expect any special treatment - but do enjoy the cake. :)

We had breakfast at CRT on my DDs 8th birthday and I ordered her the chocolate slipper dessert. It's Disney cake for birthday is fine at breakfast.

I think having cake for breakfast is a great idea, but have a plan for what you will do if you have leftover cake because the restaurant will not store it for you.

I don't know about 1900 Park Fare specifically, but a few restaurants will ask if anyone is celebrating a birthday and sing once for everyone in the room. It's very rare for servers to sing for each person because so many are celebrating when in DW.

Yep, we did breakfast at Chef Mickey's when DGD was 5. I had her cake delivered there. I figured Disney was the perfect place to have cake with breakfast
Plus, we were heading back to the resort that day, vs. on to a park. So no worries about figuring out where/how to store the cake after eating.

I have never witnessed or heard of the wait staff singing for anyone's birthday. With the sheer number of birthdays they see in a day, it would be a cacophony of nonstop singing at every restaurant all the time.

I would absolutely eat cake for breakfast, but that said it wouldn't be my first pick for a few reasons. First, buffets have a lot of dessert options that I like to enjoy so I usually choose a venue for cake where I can enjoy it and not miss out on the many other yummy treats. Second, if you plan to have leftovers you'll be stuck with them the rest of the day or until you leave the park. I usually plan for cake before taking a break for this reason, but it has happened that we thought dinner was the end of our day and I ended up carting around a cake box for a couple hours when we decided we just weren't finished.

As for the singing, we usually get cakes for no real reason, but the one time we had a birthday cake for my MIL (at The Plaza) they did sing for her. Another time at LTT we were having a pirate themed day and ordered a pirate cake and were all dressed in pirate gear. Our server thought it was so cool that she did make a big hoopla about it when she brought out the cake, clapping and making a big announcement wishing us a magical vacation or something like that with every staff member and even the chef in attendance.
