Birthday Button Tips or Freebies??

Is it possible to get it before going in the parks? Like at the ticket booth?

Yes, it is possible. It is even possible to get it the night before. We did this with my daughter last time we were there for her birthday. She wanted to make sure she had it ALL DAY LONG, so we went to the ticket booth the night before and they were more than happy to give her one.

Also, as a side note, the checkouts at the World of Disney Store also have all the celebration buttons. Just ask and they will help you out. :goodvibes

Unfortunately, you are no longer allowed to ride in the front of the monorail since the accident at WDW that killed the driver when the nose ran into another train.

Are you sure about this? I am 99% sure we rode in the front last August at DLR. Granted, we went twice this year, and I am getting old, so I may be remembering from our March trip, but it's something we do every trip and I don't recall being denied. Maybe someone who has been recently can confirm one way or the other.

Well I'm very glad I peaked into this thread. I had read about the buttons but figured we would be denied because we'll be at DLR about two weeks past our birthday's. My DD will turn 3 two days before my birthday. Would it seem silly for both of us to get a birthday button to wear and for my mom to get one that says "I'm Celebrating" as she'll be celebrating taking her last grandchild to Disneyland. If they don't mind us doing that I think we might just do it. Oh, and can we add a 1st trip one on another day... or is that just going a bit overboard?? :rotfl:

The birthday buttons & a lot of the other ones are available at the sit down restaurants & some of the shops......just ask!!

Not overboard at all.....go for it! Most of the CMs seem to genuinely enjoy seeing folks celebrating and make a big fuss over it...ESPECIALLY for a little one! My girls (both of whom hope to work at Disney during college) love saying Happy Birthday to everyone they see.....they claim they're just training, lol.

My girls' birthday is in June, mine in July and there is no way we'd ever go during those months....too crowded and way too hot for us. So we always go sometime in December to see the Christmas stuff....and since that's close to our "half" birthday....we simply pick a day during our trip and declare it our birthday celebration.....we get the buttons, we plan a nice dinner and often will do our souvenior shopping that day (presents after all). The first couple times we did this we told the CM at City Hall that it wasn't officially our birthday but we were here to celebrate like it was....since they always were happy to give us the birthday pins anyway, we just stopped explaining and went for it.

Another tip.....if you have a birthday in your group but perhaps a child not celebrating their birthday but upset they don't get a pin too, let the CM know that and they'll do an "un-birthday" pin. Remember according to the Mad Hatter your birthday is one day of the year but your "Un-birthday" is the other 364 adys.

When I am at WDW (which is ALL THE TIME) I always tell people wearing the birthday button "Happy Birthday!" and if I can read their name I add that as well.

The buttons at WDW have a place for writing the person's name, not sure if they do that at DL.

Little kids love it when you say it...my sister just laughs at me. :rotfl:

Since we never are able to take my daughter on her real birthday due to school, we're going to be celebrating her unbirthday when we go. I'm thinking about getting a special cake made and delivered during our dinner at Goofy's Kitchen :yay:

The birthday buttons at Disneyland, do have a space so as to have your name written. I asked for my birthday button (Finally!) this past April at City Hall, and the CM asked me what my first name was and wrote it very nicely on it. I like to keep it in my car.
I had arrived in Anaheim on my birthday, but it was too late in the day, and I was too tired as well, so as to visit that day. So when I did, I asked for it then. Because this was a birthday trip for me. As it is at times. I am thinking, maybe I will make it a birthday trip more often, even if when I actually am visiting the park, it isn't. Seeing how I had missed so many in the past, and I don't live in the area either.
