I am not a big fan of birthdays lately. Seems the only person who sends me a card is my life insurance salesman. I wish I could get people to understand that I really don't need any presents. I would love a heartfelt card, or just some time to myself.

Instead, here's what DH will do/had done. I have a good idea what my big present since he bought it one month ago when he replaced the Ipod he broke. He will give it to me on my birthday in the bag the store put it in. He will probably just throw it towards me as he is watching a ballgame.

He will not have taken DD shopping, nor will he say that any gift is from her==she'll get her feelings hurt and be upset and think that I am mad at her since she didn't get me a gift.

He has already bought me plants which need to be planted before they die. They've been left on the front porch right now and I need to go move them just so the mailman can get to the door. I hate gardening, I've never been successful at it; I'd rather go to the dentist, be drilled without novocaine, while listening to nails scraping a blackboard. In his defense, he did offer to have someone plant them for me, but when I asked that they be planted in pots instead of the ground so that we can have some shrubs put in later this spring, he got mad at me. BTW this is the 10th birthday in a row he has given me this "present"

Oh, well, time for me to go smile and say thank you, all the while thinking people on the Dis are thinking what a whiny selfish person I am.

Happy Birthday to you! :grouphug: Hope you have a great one! :goodvibes

I don't think you're whiny, but I do think your DH is a bit of a cramp.

I would probably do something really nice for myself for my birthday, and if he asked why i was doing/buying that, I'd say "because it's my birthday". But then again, I'm a witch. ;)

Sorry your day isn't going as you would like. :bday: Make the most out of what is left of the day.

I'm sorry your hubby isn't being as thoughtful as he should. Enjoy what you can of the remainder of the day and resolve to do something for YOU tomorrow. Get a manicure or a pedicure - they always make me feel pampered and they are very relaxing.

:bday: party:

Iaaa'm going ot agree with Disney Doll there. Why? Because it's what I would do. I LOVE to make myself feel special, and at times I'm the only person who will do this. Take your DD and go to the mall, have a nice lunch together at a place that gives you a free desert for your birthday, get matching pedicures and then catch a movie. Ignore the hubby when he throws the gift at you, or catch it and toss it back at him. Tell him you'd like it AT LEAST wrapped. YOU deserve that.
