Birthday at Disney Resort

My wife and I will be at the Port Orleans Riverside in one week. Her birthday will occur while we are there and this will be the first time she has celebrated her birthday away from her family. We had her birthday party this past weekend and she commented how it seemed wrong to be celebrating early. Anyway I am wanting to give her a special birthday at Disney.

This is my wife's 13th trip but only my first so I don't know my 'way around' at all. In other words who can I call and what can I do to make her birthday better? Mainly I am looking for ideas on what to do in the room (keep it clean! ). For instance can they decorate it? Is there a way to get a cake delivered to the room?

I posted this here since I am looking for ideas on things to do with the room, but aside from that, any ideas on other special things that I can have done for her at Disney??

Be sure and tell them when you check in that it is your wife's birthday and you want to make it special. Usually, they will have a card with a picture of your favorite character signed and sent (sometimes with balloons). When you call to make priority seatings for any of your meals at any of the Disney resturaunts be sure and let them know you are celebrating her birthday as well. They will bring you a complementary dessert and they have the Cast members come over to sing happy birthday.

Beyond that, there are things you can do such as have flowers and other special gifts sent to the room. Disney has their own florist and I know that there is also another place that does gifts -- although at the moment I can't remember the name. Anyone have the link to send?? I called the resort directly for my mom's birthday last May and had them deliver chocholate covered strawberries dressed up like tuxedo's with a chocholate Mikey Mouse. We had stayed at OKW and they had them brought in from the YC resort but you can call POR-R and I'm sure they can help you as well. Hope this helps a little. I'll keep my eyes open for the name of where to go to have the gifts delivered and post it for you if I see it.

Thanks for the suggestions Scoootch! Who did you call at the resort to make the arrangements for your mom? Once I called and they sent me to Guest Services where over a period of two days I never got through after being on hold each time for 10- 20 minutes. Another time I called and they sent me to the front desk. The lady there told me they were pretty busy at that time of the year and couldn't guarantee anything. Are their concierges at the resorts or some specific department that I should ask for to help me with this?

gassor96 -- www.giftsofalifetime.com is probably your best bet,bet but in answer to your question, I had just called the front desk at OKW when I made the arrangements and they hooked me up with who I needed to speak with to make the arrangements. I was transferred around several times to get to whomever it was I finally needed to speak with though so the gifts of a lifetime site would probably be so much easier.

For my birthday my sister had balloons and an autographed picture on minnie and mickey sent to my room. Felt kind of foolish as it was my 35th!! But I do have the picture displayed proudly at home. I believe she just went to the front desk and told them what she wanted.
A related story. My Boyfriends mother called from home to the resort and order a bottle of champagne to be sent to our room for me. It turns out there was someone else staying at our resort whith the same last name and a similar first name and the bottle was sent to them by mistake. Well wouldn't you know they accepted it and never returned it to the front desk. Even though it very obviously wasn't for them!! The Nerve!!

I looked into Gifts of a Lifetime and they are completely booked until January 2nd. My in-laws go down to Disney World every year for their anniversary. I might look into using them to do something for them.
