Birthday Advance Registration

I have tried to pre-register a Birthday on the offical Disney Site, but its says that as we are from UK we do not have to do this. Will We still be elegible for the birthday person to get their 'giftcard' withouyt pre-registering?

My husband got the birthday gift card today we didn't register just went to the will call box with the birthday banners on them (In Hollywood studios) had no problems and was quick too

We got giftcard for DW on 28th May. CM asked if we had pre-registered(we hadn't), he said somehow travellers from UK are managing to pre-register but he had no idea how.
I just had to write down our address for him to enter into computer, only takes 2-3 mins to do. We did it on way into MK, just before they opened gates to monorail no line(about 8:30am).
