Hello All,
Taking our 1st family trip to Disneyland 10/13-10/19. Excited is an understatement. Kind of a silly question but I'm wondering if anyone knows what the rules/restrictions are for celebrating a birthday in the parks. My DH's bday is on Halloween but I was thinking of surprising him with an early celebration while we're there. Does Disney allow you to celebrate outside of your birth date or does it have to be on your actual birthday? Thanks much

You can celebrate what you want, when you want. Disney doesn't care if it's the actual date or not.

Out of a five day visit, my mom's bday was the first day, but she wore that dang button the whole time we were there. It was her first visit and she loved wearing those buttons. :rotfl2:

Heheh yeah, as the others said, there's no rule at all :) Many people here wear their pin and celebrate their birthday throughout their trip, and often it's before or after their actual birthday.

What does "celebrate" mean to you? Having a special meal? Wearing the birthday button? I don't think you'd be allowed to bring in twenty wrapped presents and a cake on a platter, for example. I just wanted to check what you were thinking of doing, just in case.
The only time they cared about the exact date of your birthday was when they offered the get in free on your birthday deal several years ago.
For a special birthday meal, you can tell them you are celebrating a birthday and you may or may not get a free dessert at the end. Wearing the birthday pin helps, but still it is hit or miss. Kind of like restaurants anywhere.

Honestly, I don't know because I've had a hard time figuring out what they offer. I love him but we're definitely not having a party :) After seeing pix online my 6 yr old DD really wants to get one of the Mickey cakes that she can decorate for him. Hopefully those are still offered as I have not found them on any of the online menus. Thanks for the replies everyone!

We've taken our two oldest daughters to celebrate their 5th birthdays. The oldest had her birthday in the middle of that trip and the second had her birthday the day before we left. When I made our dining reservations for both trips I told them we were celebrating a 5th bday. They both wore buttons the whole trip and got a treat with candle from our waiter at each meal place where I had made reservations. So, like other posters have said, Disney loves to help you celebrate anytime!

The Mickey cakes you decorate are offered at the Pat E. Cake birthday party, at Plaza Inn. You would contact Disneyland to see about signing up. It is $15 per person attending. Mickey and Minnie come for a meet and greet.

Thanks for the tip!

DD, being a rule follower, refused to wear her button on any day but her actual birthday.

Me? My birthday is in the middle of May, and my solo trip was May 4-8 or something like that. Let me tell you, that button was worn the WHOLE trip, as me celebrating my b-day was the whole reason for the trip. And I LOVED every minute of it. Cast members wishing me a happy birthday, random park visitors yelling "Happy Birthday Mimi!", lots of smiles and waves, and just a general "Woo hoo!" feeling about it all. It was marvelous! One day celebrating a birthday is fun, and doing the celebrating at DL is more fun... but spending a whole long weekend to celebrate a birthday was better than I could ever imagine! I just can't put it into words :)

As Malcon10t mentioned above, it seems that you are referring to the "My Disneyland Birthday Party" at the Plaza Inn. Each person gets a Mickey shaped cake that they can decorate themselves. Here is a link to the info. :)
