Birth control and pregnancy

I went off the pill last January but used other means of birth control until August and conceived in September.

ETA: I am 30

I went off the pill due to migraines, and we started trying about 2 months after that. It took about 18 months, but I have PCOS, so not a huge suprise there.

If you have the time, go find the Trying to Concieve thread. The girls there are great, and have a lot of knowledge about stuff like this.

BTW - I was 31 when I stopped, and was 32 when I got pregnant.

I was 26 when I quit taking the pill. My cycle did not start on its own and I had to take medication to cycle and ovulate. We began Clomid after 11 months and it took two months on Clomid to conceive.

Ladies...how long after going off the pill did you get pregnant? And what was your age? I'm 37.

Thanks for any input. :goodvibes

The very same month. I was on BC for years, went off it for one month to give my body a rest, and I ended up pregnant. I was a teenager.

Does it depend on how long you were on BC pills? Because I will be on BC for 7 years before thinking about conceiving.

First time I was 22, off bc about a month.

Second time, I was 27, took 8 months, miscarried 9 weeks later. 5 months later, we're still trying. 28 now.

I visited the TTC thread and there's some wonderful stuff there...but I don't want to try to get pregnant, I just want it to happen. I know every woman is different, but even my GYN told me give it six months at the most to get pregnant. If I'm not by then, after a year she'll have me pregnant. THis was last March before DH and I were even interested. I don't want to keep track, do temperatures, or it be the right time...I just want to and that's that. Hope I don't offend anyone. Thanks for all the wonderful info.

I was on the pills for over 10 years, went off at 32, got preggers 2 months later!

Apparently I am very fertile though, see my siggy.

I think by a lot of these posts, that's what we mean by "trying". At least for me anyway. "Trying" meant wanting a baby and not taking precautions against it. No temp's, no counting....just lot's of fun ;)

YEP! YEP! YEP! :thumbsup2

I HAVE AN HEADACHE!!!!! :headache: I had to find a new OB/GYN because my other deals with a hospital that I REFUSE to ever deal with again!! I had to not only find a GYN, but she had to be an OB also since DH and I are wanting to have children...well duh Denise!! The first two I called were only GYN but my CIGNA website had OB/GYN by their names! So I found one...AND the hospital is on the plan too. YEA!!! :cool1: Along with that, I can extend my medical from $10,000 a year to $20,000...I'm sure I'll need it. Could have saved myself the headache if I would have known that prior to my surgery in April of last year. I can't do it til June, but it'll come in handy when the time is right. Okay I'm done now...I've been up since 11 and I haven't had a thing to eat! :faint:

Any other ladies want to share their pregnancy stories with me?? :goodvibes

Awww, you poor thing  I hope you like your new Dr. You were smart to ask about the OB thing because no sense in wasting your time if the Dr doesn't do OB anymore. I think alot of OB/Gyns drop OB after they have been practicing for awhile for 2 reasons: they don't want to be on call and have crazy hospital hours and malpractice insurance for OB is extremely expensive. It could be that the Drs you were finding on your health insurance website once practiced OB but have since dropped it and the website is just not up to date. Good luck as you TTC :)

OP, thanks for starting this thread! Believe it or not I was going to post this exact question.

Early miscarriage after 5 months, this pregnancy was 7 months.

Actually you will find a good poriton of us there are now under that mind set. Some have tracked temps to bring to doctors as well (they have been trying long enough w/o anything to show) since docs want that before moving forward. Others do it just to help and some (like me) don't do it at all now. Though I might just because after my miscarriage I havene't been quite as regular. Just something to bring to my doc for my anual this summer (to make sure nothing is wrong).

So if you do want to join there, not all of us are "trying" trying... just hopefully trying and having fun ;)

Good luck though. I know on average it can take 3-6 months for the body to regulate after being on the pill. For some (like me) it happened immediately... for others it takes a while :)
