Birth Certificates

We sailed last year in October....post 9/11. At that time we had wallet sized birth certificates with the raised seal on them.

Does anyone know if the rules have become more stringent, i.e., do they now require full size copies of birth certificates with raised seals. I was sure I read somewhere that wallet sized ones are no longer accepted. Is this true?

Thanks.......:smooth:

If it is official and has the raised seal, you are good to go.

Dh had the wallet-sized birth certificate but in light of 9/11 I ordered a copy with the raised seal. He has never had a problem with the wallet-sized one but we didn't want to take a chance. HTH

but we have cruised Carnival post 9-11 and we have the wallet sized birth certificates and they do NOT have the raised seal since they are enclosed in plastic BUT they do say CERTIFIED COPY on them and we havent had any problems. From Disneycruise.com on their FAQ's it states the following about needing ID

What documentation do I need to bring?

All U.S. and Canadian citizens must travel with proof of citizenship, which is a valid passport, or certified birth certificate with a picture identification, or a certified naturalization certificate with a picture identification. Acceptable forms of picture identification are state or provincial driver's license with a picture, or federal, state, province, or local government photo I.D. card. Children 17 and under who are U.S. or Canadian citizens are only required to have proof of citizenship, excluding picture identification.

It does NOT say ANYTHING in there regarding raised seal birth certificates. We have passports for hubby and I but not for our kids and I dont know if we will get them for them but we do have the same birth certificates for them that we have and I have called Disney 9 times now and asked 9 different people and all 9 of them have told me exactly what was just quoted on here so I am going to go for it! It is a certified copy and that is exactly what their website states! One of the people at Disney's number suggested that I print out a copy of the rules the night before we leave and make sure it has the date on it and then if there is a problem I would have that as a backup plan. I guess if you are really worried about it you might want to get one and you can get them through Vitalcheck.com. Me...we will do what we have and hope for the best! We have cruised on Carnival with the kids out of LAX port recently and we have all used just our birth certificates and they were fine and never questioned.

Used our wallet sized just last week. They are enclosed in plastic, they do have a raised seal, and they were fine. Actually they examined my postcard, paper type birth certificate more carefully than the girls' plastic ones.
