I don't know why I bought the Birnbaum's Dining Guide. Everything I need to know I can find out better here on the boards. I started looking at it last night and have all ready found 2 mistakes where they describe the DDP.

1.) They say for TS meals "One Table Service meal includes a single serving of juice (at breakfast), an appetizer (at lunch and dinner only), an entree, and a nonalcholoc beverage, or one full buffet.

From what is discussed on the boards, you don't get an appetizer, but a desert....

2.) It also says tax and gratuitiy are included. "When it comes time for a meal or a snack, be sure to present your hotel key (aka your "key to the world" card) before ordering. that way your server will know to charge meals to your Disney Dining Plan. Tax and gratuity are included, but we always augment the tip for exceptional service.

Tax and gratuity are not included.

As the offical Disney guide, I would hope that their info was correct.

All of that was true last year so maybe the information is just outdated.

This year there is no longer an appetizer included with lunch/dinner and the gratutity is no longer included as well.

The book was published before the 2008 DDP guidelines came out. That's the way the plan was up until Dec. 31, 2007....

From what I understand there is also no mention of the deluxe dining plan, so the book must have gone to press before ANY of the changes were made.

TDC Nala is correct (as usual). I know the Unofficial Guide actually states in every edition that some of the information may be outdated by the time the book is printed.

Guidebooks are compiled over a period of time. Generally, if there are MAJOR changes (e.g. the DDP), when the book goes into another printing they WILL update the information.

I've seen that book on the shelves for the following year usually in September of the year prior. So the information is outdated by the time the actual year it's indicated for arrives.
