Happy New Year! I'm catching up ..... I love the face painting on the girls, they looked beautiful. So lucky to have gotten to be part of the show at FOTLK! I'm such a sap, I'm always close to tearing up at that part seeing all the huge smiles on all the kids faces.

Time flies at WDW and I'm always left wondering why I didn't get everything that I wanted to do done. Great job on the hidden Mickeys - I didn't scroll to your second picture of the fan, I wanted to find it - took me a while!

Glad you're Photopass CD arrived - I don't have mine yet either.

love the latest updates and pics. How was the food at Tusker House? I might have to try it again next year. It's been years since I did it and was on a trip with just my sister.

The vacation Gods got us too with the nice wet stroller. rained a ton our first morning and stroller got soaked while we were at CP. lovely!

So the line for Santa wasn't too bad? so glad you got to do that! i loved the old school mickey christmas shirt and regret not getting one now! doh!

I have to say, your kiddos are adorable! I love the face painting they chose! My Olivia got her's painted as well, and I was shocked at the cost! At least they lasted all day!

I know what you mean about resorts "growing" in size while you are gone! I still can't figure out how they do it.

I love DTD, and I always feel like we could spend lots more time there, but we never manage more that a few hours (although that time goes by really quickly-I think there is some type of time warp in WDW).

Can't wait to see if you Christmas card pic worked out!

The painting looked great, so I guess that justifies the cost a little, but it was still pricey in my book.
I was so glad when they got chosen. When we went int 2007 it was the year of a million dreams, and I think the only thing we got was a mickey head rice krispie treat.
We had 8 days, so I think we got to do almost everything. A couple of things weren't done, but no regrets, we still had a great time.
Ally took about 5 seconds to spot it. We were on the walkway that goes across the lobby and she pointed it out. She really surprised me with how often she spotted them. I only mentioned it on the way down, but she made it her mission while we were there. Of course this Mission like attitude came up again on Tom Sawyers Island since I mentioned to keep an eye out for paint brushes, but that story isn't for a few more days.

I thought it was just me that thought the resort lobby grew while you were gone.
I could spend more time at DTD, just without the kids. It would be much more enjoyable then.
The Christmas cards looked nice, but I did goof something with them, but that is a story for another post.

On a side note, I ordered all my pictures from SnapFish. 1,348 pictures. This includes three of 21 pictures since we got the autograph books that hold pictures.

Found a PhotoPass guy at the Warden's cabin outside of the safari.

Ugh, I think we saw one PP guy when we were there!!

I notice Flik standing by himself just waiting for people to come down and see him.

Arrrgggh! I didn't see Flik!

There is a PhotoPass guy, and it looks like he is doing the Tinkerbell thing, so we head over. We pose for some standard shots in front of the Tree of Life, then he has us all growl and make our hands into claws. Then the kids get the Tinkerbell thing.

Those are on my next to do list. Can you send me your list of magic shots?

Monday, December 13th
Resort – Animal Kingdom Lodge
Park(s) – Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Holly wood Studios
Weather: high of 49 degrees, low of 35 degrees

Day 3 was set to be a day to finish up whatever was left in Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and going shopping at DTD since this would be our last night at AKL before checking out and heading up to the Poly for 4 nights. We already did DTD, so it was only AK and HS left. Dining for the day would be the RainForest café for breakfast at 8:45, then Pizza Planet while we were at HS. Need to see Mickey at Camp Minnie Mickey for our Christmas card picture, see Rafiki’s planet watch, see Flights of Wonder, and ride Expedition Everest, then we can head to HS, ride Rock N Roller Coaster, see Muppets 3D, eat at Pizza Planet, then head back to the resort for some resting and relaxing. Nice easy day.

The day starts off once again at 5:30, a good half hour before the alarm is set to go off. Curse you Vacation Gods, why can’t you let me sleep for crying out loud. Oh well, get in the shower, get dressed and head down to Mara to get my morning coffee. Wow, the temp has definitely dropped. Get back to the room put on channel 2 to catch the weather. Going to be in the 40’s but windy, so the wind chill is going to make it feel very cold. Poor lady is outside dressed like she is in Moscow in January.

Head out to the bus area, don’t have to wait long for the bus to show up. Guess the Vacation Gods are making up for waking me up early, and having to wait for busses so long. Off to AK we go for EMH’s. Get in line and when it’s my turn I put the first ticket in. The lady asks for a room key. That’s an odd thing, takes me a moment to realize that you need the room key for EMH’s. Hand her the key and put the kids tickets through. Get in the park, meander through Oasis. I want to check stuff out, of course it’s cold so none of the animals are visible, must be in their cages or something. Oh well, get into the park and everyone is scrambling to Asia and Africa, since I have breakfast Ressies at RainForest I don’t want to trek too far into the park, and we wonder around the discovery island trails. Didn’t get a chance to do this in 2007, and this is where you can get right under the Tree of Life for some nice shots, even walk in a little cave like thing.

After wondering around a while we head back down to the restaurant for breakfast. Enjoy a relaxing breakfast . When we are getting ready to leave a lady comes up and asks if I am Daddy_of_Princesses. This was completely unexpected, but she introduces herself as Katie & Glenn, and I remember that they were planning on having breakfast at the Café that morning as well. Unfortunately we wanted to get to Camp Minnie Mickey to get in line for the characters so we couldn’t chat long. Sorry if it seemed like I blew you off Katie. Of course you are only up the road a bit from me so we can always meet at the Disney Store at King of Prussia if you want.

So we head off to Camp Minnie Mickey to get the Christmas card pic. We want to get the family shot with Mickey, then I will run over to EE to get FP’s while the kids meet the rest of the characters. Along the way we see Pocohontas. We are going to see her up at Rafiki’s Planet Watch but the kids don’t know that and want to get her autograph. It’s getting close to when the characters come out at Camp Minnie Mickey, but since there are on 3 families ahead of us so why not.

Ok, got Pocohontas, and her autograph, off to the character trails. As soon as we arrive the characters start coming out, Thumper, Chip, Dale, Goofy Clause. So we quick head up the trail to meet Mickey, and we are third in line. Sweet!. Get the pic with Mickey.

We go to Minnie, and she isn’t up the trail, but right at the entrance, and there is only 2 families ahead of us. This is when I notice Goofy and Donald are also at the entrance of their trails, and there is hardly anybody around. So instead going for FP’s we just get family shots with Minnie, then Goofy Clause.

Now when we get to Donald it doesn’t occur to me that I am wearing a Mickey Mouse baseball cap, Mickey T-shirt, my wife is wearing her Mickey Santa hat, and a Mickey T-shirt. The kids have Mickey sweatshirts, and Mickey ear hats with little santa hats on them. This of course sets Donald off. He points at my shirt, and hat, then notices Diane, and the kids just really set him off. I don’t think he wants to sign our books or let us take pictures with him. He ends up signing the books, Donald Duck #1, and points this out to us. Donald is my wife’s favorite, so she feels a bit bad. In the picture Donald covers the kids Mickey hats, so it is a great shot.

We then get pics with Chip and Dale plus Thumper. We just met 7 characters, and got their autographs plus pictures in about a half an hour. The Vacation Gods are apparently on my side today, other than that early wake up. As we head out towards Asia to check FP times for EE we see Meeko where Pocahontas was. So this is character number 8, we are lucky to be the last family Meeko is going to see before going to get biscuits.

So now we head off to EE finally. Not rushing, the park doesn’t seem too full, so we enjoy the scenery, while I look for stuff I want to take pictures of after we get the FP’s. Finally get to EE, and the posted wait is 10 minutes, yet people are still getting FP’s. Why? It’s going to take you longer than 10 minutes to go see something and come back. So Ally and I hop in line while Diane and Olivia wait.

With Everest complete we head back the way we came to get some pics, we stop for the PP to get pictures in front of Everest.

After taking some various shots of the decorated bicycles we head down and catch the Flights of Wonder show. This was great since we get to sit and rest for a while, plus it’s a pretty good show. Then we head off to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. It’s really cold, so we are looking forward to getting to the Planet Watch to get inside where it is warm. The train pulls up and a group gets off, while I am waiting for them to let us in, someone is right in my face saying “You’re Daddy_of_Princesses! Hi I’m PRmamiDedos!!” I am completely taken aback since I didn’t expect to be recognized down in Florida, and definitely not twice within a few hours time. I have no idea what I actually said, and I vaguely remember her leaving saying “See you around the park” I didn’t see her the rest of the day, but that’s ok since we had a planned meet for later in the week.

Rafiki’s Planet Watch was pretty uneventful, go to warm up a bit, met Pocohontas again, and met Rafiki. I may be a bit crazy, but Pocohontas looks different than she did earlier. Must be a different outfit. The site I used to get the information for Character Searches said Jiminy Cricket could be found there but we didn’t see him.

We ride back to the park, and head towards the exit having seen all we wanted to see at AK, now off to HS.
Next up, finishing up HS.

Wow you got a lot of characters. How fun. I have heard good Ol' Jiminy is back there too. We only went back there once and weren't too impressed, so I don't know if/when we wil lbe heading back that part again. How was the food at Rainforest?

Caught up finally! I don't know how I missed that you had started your TR. We got suckered into the photo at the Ohana breakfast. For $30 I just couldn't turn it down, especially when they have the pictures already printed out for you when they come by the table. Oh well.
