Is there a difference that you have noted between the two locations? Which one would you prefer to do? I am thinking doing it in the castle would be neater but not sure if it fits into our plans.

We used the DTD location because the MK BBB did not have a convenient time for us. I don't think there is a difference as far as the outcome. If you're not doing CRT the castle may be a better choice but we went to CRT for lunch on another day so the DTD location was fine especially for the itinerary we had that day.

We have did both in the past and we did both this last trip. I agree that the outcome is the same at both. i think they are a little nicer at DTD, but the castle is magical. My DD6 prefers the castle location. I am not sure why. We did DTD first and she asked when she could get it done at the castle. Either one is great.

As far as the quality of the makeover, there really wouldn't be any difference.

BUT.....my girls did this at the Castle and I have to say that walking down Main Street heading to the Photo Studio was probably THE best time they had with their makeover, lol. People would stop and point at them, they even had several people taking their photos, including an Asian group that asked to pose with them! The Photopass photographers (3 different ones) stopped them and asked to take their photos, and did a LOT more than just posing them with the castle behind them. One of the photographers took them to several Main Street buildings and posed them in front of these buildings.

All in all, the girls have often said they felt like "movie stars" walking down Main Street that morning.

After getting their photos done we needed to get to GF for afternoon tea....stopped at the boat and asked the driver if his boat went to GF and his response was "if that is where the Princesses need to go, that is where I will go". They felt like true royalty (and I didn't bother to point out he was going there anyway).

That evening we went back to Main Street and the walk towards the Castle again had a lot of folks pointing and lots of compliments (though not quite the same photo ops, lol).

If you have the chance to do it at the Castle, I'd highly recommend it. If your preferred time or touring plan don't make that possible, DTD will also do a wonderful makeover of your daughter. I just think the perks of the Castle and Main Street will always make that one my preference.

I called today and got our BBB castle reservations. The lady on the phone ran through a bunch of directions way to quickly.

She said I have to bring my own brush and comb - is that right?? What else do I need besides the dress?

How does the makeover work? We got the crown package.

My daughter as think hair and honestly the only way to brush it without killing her is to do it wet. Do they wet there hair?

Also I know my duaghter will want the cinderella hairdo - her hair is short, thick and curly (above her sholders). Is the cinderella do possible? How could you get such short hair in a bun and crown?

Help princess needs adviseprincess:

They do not wet their hair. She should be able to get her hair in the bun. They use A LOT of gel and hairspray. She should be fine. We didn't bring a brush or a comb. They give you a comb. They told us to, too but we never did. It was not a big deal.

You should make sure you brush it through good before you get there.

We took a comb with us but they didn't even ask for it. They had a comb and brush and gave it to DD when they were done. We went to DTD's BBB. It was a great experience. They tell you to have the girl's hair combed out with no tangles so that it is not a painful experience for her. When we were there last Friday, they did DD's makeover in the window of the World of Disney store. The people were walking by and would stop and watch. She loved it.

Also, if her hair is too short, they will leave the back out the bun. I saw a lot of girls like that. I personally, do not like that. My DD's was long enough to put the whole thing up. But they can do it with shorter hair.

My daughters hair can be pulled up into a short ponytail with no hair hanging down in back. I would not say it is long enough for a bun though. Hopefully it is long enough for the "cinderella do". I don't like the idea of hair hanging down with a bun.

I think I will wet her hair in the morning and brush it all out and put it up in a pony tail. It will make it easier when they go to brush it since it will all be brushed out and banded. If I leave it "natural" with all her curls and thick hair it will be painful to get a brush through if it is not wet.

One more question. We are bringing our own dress from home so should she wear it or bring it to the BBB with her?

Thanks

She can wear it or just bring it with. I would bring a change of clothes, just in case she gets hot or itchy later.

I agree that the castle location is more magical, but they get so backed up sometimes and then you have a long wait when you could be doing other things.

the DTD location offers the Hannah Montana makeover

i've also heard complaints that photopass isn't as attentive at the castle

you can change into the dress at the location if desired.

and they can add extensions if necessary/desired

MK is gridlock and usually booked solid compared to DTD.Had no problems trying to get a last min. in Sept at DTD.MK was booked solid for months

Their appointment was at 10:30am, and we were maybe 10-15 minutes behind our appointed time, but then with my girls' thick thick hair and the FG being a bit new, she actually did one of the girls and then didn't like how it piled up and pulled the whole thing apart to do it again, lol. WE all thought it was fine by FG wanted nothing less than perfect! So it was almost 1pm before we got out of there! Then we did the walk down Main Street, took "The Royal Boat" to GF, had tea, did a GF Photo Shoot, went back to MK to wander a bit (and rode the carousel a dozen times, lol), before topping off the day with dinner in the castle and fireworks viewed from our table.

A very girly girly perfect day....one my DH was glad to hear about on the phone and not have to experience first hand, lol.

I would actually probably prefer to do it at DTD as the yseem not as busy. last year we had an appointment there and they were running ahead of schedule. BUT, DD was sick the day before and stil lnot up to par, so when we got there she started crying and we decided not to go through with it. This year she keeps asking over and over about it, so I booked at the castle, becuase it wil lbe more convenient for us that day there. I also booked it early in the trip, so she won't be so tired. I do figure though that it won't last but a day as she will want to go swimming. If she asks to do it again, I'll probably try to get her in to DTD later in the trip, which I'm pretty sure we'll have a good chance at getting in, since last year they were taking walkins.

We just had our appointment at the Castle, late in the day around 4 pm. It was really crowded, and they were behind and short handed, so I don't know that I would do it again. We had been at DTD earlier in the day, and, if I had to do it over again, I would have done it there early, and arrived at the park in full Cinderella mode!

That being said, DD really liked her hair up; and asked me once we got home to put it up with sparkles again. I had to tell her that only Fairy Godmother's can do that!!

disneyin2008, what time was your dinner ressie? I imagine that was soooooo magical:)

I would do it early in the AM if possible.

We had an 11 am appt and got in there around 11:10.
