I am sorry you feel ridiculed. I still don't think there is anything to watch out for. I personally am there to make sure my dd has a great time. I don't care if the person stands there smiling as long as they are kind ot my child. YMMV.
As for being set on a package, I guess I am different in that the BBB is for my child not for me. I let her pick how she would like to look, not how I think she should look. That to me is the whole point of it. JMHO.
I couldn't have said it better!
My DD (6) just had her BBB appointment on Dec. 1st. I wanted her to pick the bun style since she was wearing her beautiful Cinderella gown and we had lunch scheduled at CRT that afternoon.
When we went in, DD picked the hair extension style and to top it off she picked the pink hair. I cringed but when the FGIT asked if it was OK, I said sure. As MHM stated, it was her appt. not mine, so she picked what she wanted. It grew on me and she sure got lots of looks and compliments, especially from the princesses.
We had Margarita for our FGIT. She was awesome!!!

Encouraging my girls to choose the princess bun did not make me a bad mother.
