Bippity Boppity BOO BOO :(

sorry to all of you I am not a stage mom and I did'nt post this to be ridiculed over the amt of photos Itook. I was an excited mom who spent two years planning and saving change to pay for this trip. We are not wealthy and I wanted to make sure I missed nothing that is why so many photos. I suspect most of you on your first distrip took an exorbant amt of photos and looking back and said that I wish I had backed off the camera a bit and watched more. My post was mostly to vent. and warn other moms to watch out and gain some wisdom from my mistake. Like being behind the camera a little too much. That they should pay attention to the fgit so that they can fix it before it too late if their is a problem. Also if they are set on a package efore hand maybe let them know ahead of time so the fgit does'nt ask the DD and no conflict

I am sorry you feel ridiculed. I still don't think there is anything to watch out for. I personally am there to make sure my dd has a great time. I don't care if the person stands there smiling as long as they are kind ot my child. YMMV.
As for being set on a package, I guess I am different in that the BBB is for my child not for me. I let her pick how she would like to look, not how I think she should look. That to me is the whole point of it. JMHO.

i am curious what face she made!!!!! and i feel for you. hugs.

i too have been planning this trip for 2 years. thank you for reminding me about getting out in front of the camera instead of watching it happen behind it.

When I have taken my daughter to the BBB (and both kids to the Pirate thing, whatever that is called), I take pictures of my child, not the FGIT or the Pirate in Training. They may be in some of the photos based on the angle or whatever, but they are certainly not the focal point. I couldn't even tell you what expressions were on the faces of the CMs doing my kids hair and make up, mostly cause I don't care as long as my kid was happy.

As for asking you vs your daughter which hair package she wanted, I am all for them asking my kids, not me. I am taking them to the BBB (or pirate thing) for them, not me. So if the pop star look is what they want, so be it. If I didn't want a certain look, I would discuss that with my child in advance so there was no misunderstanding. At the pirate thing, my son picked the most hideous looking creation I have ever seen. I asked if he liked anything else, he was satisfied with what he chose so I left it at that. If it were really going to bother me though, I would have gone through them with him in advance and told him which pirates were acceptable and which were not. But I figure, the experience is for him (or her as the case may be), so even if it's not my favorite thing in the world, if they're happy, what difference does it make? It all washes out ultimately anyway.

ETA: I got a phone call while writing this, and noticed that MouseHouseMama just posted almost exactly what I did. FWIW, I don't think I have agreed with her on many things in the past, so there must be some merit to what was said here if we're both in agreement! ;)

I'd crop out the FGIT! Though I am sorry your pictures weren't to your liking. In fact, we took DDG earlier this month and had a GREAT FGIT (Susan by name) but the pictures that the professional took weren't as good as the ones taken by her DM. :wizard:

I wonder if this was the same Susan we had? She was FABULOUS!!!!

And I disagree with the statements that the FGITs are there just to do hair. They are called Fairy Godmothers in Training, they are suppose to be playing a role. Susan did that beautifully! She WAS a FGIT! These are characters, not just hair stylists.

I have noticed in myself, that as I grow older, the number of pictures I take of the kids grows fewer, because I have learned that it is far more important to be IN the moment and experience it than to look back on it. When my oldest dd was younger, I took gazillions of pics..and was always behind the camera.

I'm like that now and my daughter is only 5.I take pics , sure. But I much rather be IN the moment than behind the camera. That is why I love photopass photographers so much. Last Sept was the first time me, Dh and DD were all in a picture together without one of us being stuck behind the camera.

I did'nt ask what one she wanted the FGIT di and when she showed me what DD picked I said no I did'nt realize they asked the girls not the moms especially when the DD is 4. The FGIT was not outgoing I did'nt say she was mean or being ugly but, the look on her face was ugly in over 60 photos that says something and I am bummed. random people don't mess up photos but, women paid money to smile it is completely different

I stand by what I said earlier, the FGIT isn't there to make your photos perfect, they are there to make over your child. :) And I can tell you that when we went (I was done WITH my girls) my photos show the FGIT with some pretty funny expressions, some sour, some mid sentence, some smiling, I don't let that bother me, it was part of the experience. I am sorry you weren't happy with your photos, hopefully you can crop her out of some of them. :)

I did not ridicule you but I'm sorry you were made to feel that way. We are not wealthy either and I can honestly 100% say that I did NOT take a ton of photos on ANY of our trips.....Of course we've never done WDW and only plan to go once so maybe I will at that time. I let my girls chose their make over do, I chose mine and they chose theirs, we had a GREAT time together being made over and I'm so glad we did it. I have to be honest and say I'm confused as to why you would chose her do, why not let her chose what she wanted? Here's an idea, next time save up a little extra and have yourself done up at the same time, then you can chose your do and your DD can chose hers. :hippie: I bet you'd have as much fun as I did....:thumbsup2

I wanted to add a few things.

1. The FGMIT are part of the whole package. They are there not just to "do hair" but to create magic. A poor attitude can have a big effect on the magic.

2. I took way more than 42 pictures! LOL I generally take more pics than the avg person. I was a photography student in college and it is a hobby. I still enjoy my family. The sad thing is I lost every single family photo I have since 2004. My external hard drive crashed and then poof they were gone! I only have a few pictures of my babies! Now think again how you would feel if you lost all of your photos before you scold someone for taking too many.

3. That fake hair is honestly gross after a few hours. Having two girls the cost for us $100. I too like the princess style because it will last for two days. My step niece got the Pop Princess style and it was a ratty mess. In all of our photos it looked like she had a dead animal on her head. Hey at least I do not have the photos any longer. :rotfl: Encouraging my girls to choose the princess bun did not make me a bad mother.

DD13 had the Pop Star 'do, she still has the hairpiece in her room and she uses it sometimes for fun....it's not ratty or nasty at all......

I sent the photos to guest relations and let them know we were bummed but, did'nt want any MONEY BACK but, hoped that they would check out what i am talking about and hope they talk to the fgit to hopefully correct the problem for others

What did you want them to fix? Didn't you say that your child had a good time?

So, will you refuse it if they decide to give you something?

I'm not what the point of sending the photos would be, other than a desire for compensation. Your daughter had a good time and liked her haircut - that is what you were paying for. She (the FGIT) wasn't scowling enough for you to even notice it while you were there.

Was she posing with your child or do you mean that she was scowling while she was working on your child? I don't understand and I don't understand why you would have so many pictures with her in them. Besides, why not just crop her out? Thats what I would have done to most of them, even if she wasn't scowling.

I bet the making your daughter take the princess package instead of the pop star package was part of what made her scowl. She probably sees controlling moms (not saying you are one, just the impression she may have had) and kids crying because they weren't allowed to get the package they want and such as that.

Not judging you, because we all do it but this is what happens when you put way too much expectation into a trip to disney or anywhere else; some little something (like some random person's mood that day) is allowed to ruin your trip. Perfection just ain't gonna happen. Whether its one trip out of many or one trip of a lifetime, its just not going to be the perfect magical trip every minute of every day with every person we meet along the way.

I think it is great she sent the photos to guest relations - especially since she was unhappy with them. I doubt they'll do anything to her specifically - - but if Disney has a standard for the CM's (and Fgits) then they can take a look at the photos and maybe do something within the BBB to ensure that the FGITs look happy about doing their job and not annoyed.

While I may not have noticed or cared what the FGIT looked like - I can see how some would be bothered by it.

When we were at the BBB we had a fantastic CM. She sang to my daughter, discussed American Girl dolls with her and was just SO pleasant. I love that we can look back at the photos and see "oh this is when she sang with her very lovely voice" or 'ooh look this is when they were intently discussing AG stuff". The FGIT was a very integral part of that experience and is part of what made the experience, and the photos after, so great!

I agree with this poster. I think it is something to bring up so that they know to watch out for a negative CM. In all honesty we don't know what went on but if it provides better customer service then yay or if it does nothing then it doesn't hurt anyone.

I sent in the photos to explain that I was upset by them. Also to give them a visual of what upset me.They then can talk to the FGIT to explain that maybe she could try to be a little friendlier. I did crop her out of most of them but, I was still bummed that I couldnt showcase our entire experience. i started this posting to vent and give other moms a heads up. If Disney offered me compensation I would say no due to the fact we got a nice hairstyle, the makeup, the sash crown and photo package. I recieved all the items I paid for and feel it makes more merit of my concern if I am not trying to get free stuff.

Just went to BBB on Dec. 5th and the experience was not as great as I had hoped. Told the FGIT at the front desk that it was a surprise for my daughter hoping they would play up the experience. She just called her name and handed her a brochure and said "pick a hairstyle". The FGIT that did her hair barely spoke the entire time and never smiled. My daughter was lucky enough to get the dress she wanted in her size, but some other children did not and were dissappointed. The service and "MAGIC" were just lacking.

May I ask which one you went to?
