I agree. I find it very disturbing that so many people are treating it like a sporting event and our "team" won. Innocent people have died. Soldiers are still in harm's way. It's a serious situation and the partying in the streets seems to be making light of it. The celebrations in the street remind me too much of celebrations in the Middle East.
Bin Laden is gone, thank heavens, but terrorism will still continue and I'm worried about an uptick in events. My dd's boyfriend is in Afghanistan right now and I'm worried about his safety and those who are fighting with him. I'd prefer to hold off on the celebrations until everyone is home.
I don't think you'd begrudge our military celebrating. I'm sure the SEALS must have at least high fived each other and what about the cadets at West Point? If that's okay (and I believe it is) why can't the people?
And I am wondering why this thread would get closed? It´s just a thread to voice my opinion on the matter like so many other threads here. If the only threads that get closed are the one stating similar opinions to mine, I find that quite interesting...
