OK, so I love WDW. The sites, the fantasy, the careful attention to detail on every unique attraction.

Thing is, my family are a static mess: they don't do holidays. They've come in the past and loved it, just can't be bothered atm.

Which leaves it to me to visit on my own, if indeed I want to travel on my own... such is the pull of Florida ;)

I do have (wonderful) friends over there, but I can't and won't rely on them to go out of their way to entertain me at every turn.

So the question is... would you travel to WDW Billy No Mates? Or would you get lonely?

Whenever I go to WDW, I always think how nice it miht be to have a solo trip, where I can do what please me the whole time. But I am not very good at being in my own company and I know I would get lonely. Plus, I would feel uncomfortable being in restaurants by myself. For me, much of my love for WDW comes from being able to share it with my family so, as much as they annoy me sometimes when they are niggling and arguing and tired and moaning, I don't think I could visit without them. Having said that, if my whole family point blank refused to go, I might have to bite the bullet and do it on my own anyway.

Go to the Darkside DOMO!!

I have done both, traveling to wdw solo is a very different experience but one that is great.

Generally when I go solo I don't go for long vacations, it's usually a long weekend. Also I find when I go solo, I do much more of the "stop and smell the roses". primarily because when I go with the kids it's about what ride is next.

Also I can do things I know with a group I wouldn't do. I can spend a day and go resort hopping just to check out other resorts. I can people watch on main street for an afternoon (no way would my family go for that).

If I want to chill at the resort pool all day, yep that's what I do.

next, many of my mates don't share my love of disney. I took one girlfriend and she whined the entire time so now that my kids are older and have other obligations if I don't go by myself it could be years before I go again.

Check out the solo board, tons of folks who travel solo and have a blast.

You know what's weird Wilma, Disney is one of the few places where I don't feel uncomfortable dining by myself. I think it's from the fact that everyone in the restaurants are on vacation and pretty much "happy", lol. Every time I've done a sit down meal solo at disney, I end up running my mouth the entire meal with some one there.

I've had a couple of solo trips. It was fun, but very different than traveling with family. You gotta do whacha gotta do to get your Disney fix.:earsboy:

About 75% of the time, like now, I have no idea what Domo is going to say based on his thread titles. Always an adventure. :teeth:

No, I've never gone to WDW by myself, but sure, I'd consider it if DH didn't want to go.

It's a head game he plays to get us to click open the thread. He's diabolical like that. ;)

I've done solo before, but only for a couple of days. I always had a great time though. Domo, I bet you could find some DISers whw would want to hang out with you there.

I would go to WDW solo in a heartbeat. I wish my health was better, I'm too nervous to travel on my own. I'd like to though, since my friends do not like Disney, and or do not have the time and money to travel. I'm trying to figure out how to take a trip to Disneyland. Been to WDW the last three years in a row, but never to Disneyland, and it's on my bucket list.

I'm going Solo in just a few days and I'm staying quite a while. I can't wait! I only have to entertain my very own little self. I can do whatever I want, whenever I want. It's going to be amazing!

Been to WDW solo twice, while DH was off on scuba trips. Had a great time, my next solo trip (somewhere in the future) I am planning to do Universal.

There is a whole section of this forum dedicated to Adult and Solo travelers. Check it out.

Another thought Domo, take some tours! The tours at WDW are excellent, and you'll be hanging around with a group of fellow Disney enthusiasts. At least one of the tours lasts the better part of the day & includes lunch with the group.

I've done both and enjoyed both...most of the time. I've enjoyed every solo trip and most with someone but I learned a few things. I won't travel with an odd number of people. The odd one out on the rides isn't so much the issue (I don't mind being a single rider) but you can't all walk together. The paths are meant for 4 lane traaffic, two going this way and two going that way so there is always one out of the loop. I'm going to "interview' anyone coming with me. First we talk about which rides are put of the question so we don't get there and then it's "I'm not going on that!" One or two rides is fine and I am never going to force someone but the point is that we're there together. If I wanted every ride to be a solo ride, I would go solo. Secoind, if you'e going to complain about the price to get in and the long lines - no go. If there's two things you need to know about the parks it's that they're expensive and the lines are long.

Yep, he's a master at click bait titles. :worship: But I must admit 99% of his threads are interesting to me, even if I don't respond.

I'm going to start using the term "Billy No Mates".

Oh, and, as a west coaster, I would probably go Billy No Mates on a short trip to Disneyland, but I don't see it happening on a longer jaunt to WDW.
