I just recently received this book. DH & I watch his show sometimes on HBO also. Haven't read all of the book, but it is SO funny. Anyone else like him, and reading/read the book?

ps...I know Bill Maher has strong opinions...not trying to start a debate on him here.

i love bill and his show I never miss it on fridays on hbo

his opinion is strong with many issues but his show is soo funny
chris rock was on last friday and kept going on about gas prices and it was sooo funny

I read this book last week. It really was so funny and I found myself sitting there agreeing with everything he said. I don't have HBO so I never watch him and don't know much about him. A friend lent the book to me. I am a very apolitical (somewhat apathetic person in that manner, I suppose) but I found myself in line with this book.

Anway, I was reading it several times during my kids' Tae Kwon Do practice and felt like I had to "hide" the chapters occasionally because some of the titles were fairly "racy". Good book!

Love Bill...

His first show could have been a little better, don't know what happened there. I did love the opening and the interviews. They were great.
It is the reason I have HBO.

I like Bill too, I miss Politically Incorrect. I haven't read the book.

I never miss Bill on Friday nights (if I can't catch it, you can bet I'm recording it). Oddly enough, I haven't gotten around to reading his book yet...Gotta remedy that.

And frankly, I thought Chris Rock sounded like an idiot last week. Bill had two conservatives on, and both just kept making these idiotic statements, but the best Rock could do was whine about ONE topic. I didn't think he came off funny at all...just uninformed. If DJ Hugeley (sp?) had been there, he'd have ripped the two morons apart, and still been hilarious.

I'm betting that's the last time you'll see Rock on that show.

I agree. He just kept trying to be the comedian, but had no real view on any topic except the price of gas. And he wasn't very funny.

Sometimes celebrity guests work out, sometimes they don't....

Oh, I dunno. I thought he did a fair job fillabustering that skank sitting next to him. :teeth: But yes, the gas thing did get a bit old.

Yep...Couldn't have mangled that name much worse if I'd set out to do it intentionally...lol. Yes, that is who I meant...thanks. :teeth:

Didn't think of it like that. Guess it just annoyed me that there really was no "liberal" balance to the two wingnuts on the show, since all Rock could do was spout off about the price of gas. I guess if he'd done it in a way that made me think he was really trying to be funny, I wouldn't have minded as much. Just came off - to me, at least - like he wasn't informed on any other subject, so he kept bringing up the one thing he felt like he could talk about.

And I REALLY wish Bill had laid into that old bat that he had on to interview. Particularly when she wouldn't answer a question. What's the good of putting someone like that evil old bitty on the spot if you're just going to let them off without a real fight ?
