Bill Maher

I can't stand him.

When anyone uses his type of delivery method (heavy on the sarcasm and belittling), I have no interest in listening to whatever they have to say.

It's not surprising who likes and dislikes him.

I think if you agree with Bill Maher, you like him; if you disagree, you find him off-putting and offensive. His vicious rants against Christians alone are enough to turn my stomach, and I'm not even a particularly religious person. I can think of some other faiths that are ripe for some biting satire, but the "tough and edgy" Maher is, ummmm, afraid, I think.

MTE.

He regularly criticizes Muslims, as well as Christians, Scientologists, and Jews.

I guess Bill isn't any more afraid of a fatwa or Scientology's men in black than he is of potential Christians who might do him harm. :confused3

I admire and appreciate Bill Maher. Unlike the Limbaugh and Hannity types Maher takes several views and intelligently evaluates a subject. I may not agree on all his personal views but I respect him alot.

I love Bill Maher. However, he seems to have moved from libertarian to a little too liberal for my tastes. He used to be a big personal responsibility guy, but I don't hear much of that anymore. Hopefully, I'm just missing it - don't have HBO, so I have to catch him on youtube or other shows.

I am a HUGE fan of his. I started watching "Politically Incorrect" 11 years ago and I have not missed an episode of that or Real Time since. I have seen him do stand-up three times, saw PI tape 3 times, and have seen Real Time live on average of twice a year since it has been on the air. So my opinions are not that of a casual fan, but a rather rabid one. ;)

He HAS shifted. I used to agree with him most of the time. Now I rarely do. I still think he's funny, I will always be a fan, but he is NOT the libertarian that first got my attention. Not even close.

It is rare that you have a truly balanced panel anymore. You get one token conservative and sometimes not even that. The last two "independents" they had on might as well have been democrats. I think the show tries to get a balance because it does make for a better show, but Hollywood is not exactly a hotbed of conservatives. And if they DO get one on, the audience is SO far to the left it is ridiculous. They once had a show where they tried to JUST get conservatives in the audience. I was there. :)

I love how people here think he should be squashed because he doesn't spout their brand of the truth. Typical.

I am admittedly very left leaning and even I disagree with a good number of the things he says (yes, I do agree with most) but I do find his approach funny even when I'm not liking the content so much.:thumbsup2

People? PEOPLE? It was ONE person. ONE! (of which I disagree with)

Oy...

OTH, I'm sure NO Demolib has EVER said someone they disagree with should just "shut up".

Are you trying to say he's "fair and balanced"? I think he's an obnoxious, offensive jerk ... and those are his good points.

Of Course Not :lmao:

But he is definitely more fair and balanced than some of the other "political" shows.

I have to agree that his panels are not as balanced as they once were. And I have found myself irritated a little more often by some of his New Rules.

But he is a comedian, not a political guru.

I Love his show. I think he is hysterical for the most part.

Although I do not agree with him on everything, I love his show and seldom miss it.

I also find Maher ignorant and intolerant.

So you don't like him? I couldn't tell.
Do you like Rush, Hannity, etc? I doubt it. Because they are also "obnoxious, offensive jerk"s who are "ignorant and intolerant".

I have listened to Rush and Hannity.....as I have Matthews and Olbermann. I don't agree with any of them completely... some are too far right and the others too far left. I don't put any of them in the same category as Maher.
