Does anyone know what the policy is for bicycles and dogs (not together) around property? I know dogs are not allowed in the parks unless they are a service dog, but what about around the resorts and on the monorail? I probably wouldn't go into the parks while I have my bike anyway, but I also was wondering if there is anywhere to leave/lock bikes outside the parks, particularly at DHS and International Gateway.

I know it's a bit of a strange question, but I figured the camping board would know since not many other guests would be bringing pets or bikes with them.

There really is no way to ride bicycles to the parks, so am sure there would be no places set aside to lock them. Also dogs are not allowed on Disney transportation (exceptions for service dogs) or at any of the resorts except the Fort. Not sure I've answered your questions completely, but this is the correct info as I know it, hope it helps.

For bikes the issue is the road system is not really setup for biking. So you really wouldn't take your bike from area to area. At Fort Wilderness people only bike around the campground and maybe to Wilderness lodge but that's it.

I guess if you stayed at an Epcot resort you could ride it to either park but its just as easy to walk. And not sure were you would keep it.

But if you somehow got to a park and locked it up on say a railing it will be removed by cutting whatever is easiest to remove it.

As for pets maybe the transportation forum? Most/all campers leave their pets at their site or maybe take them to the onside doggy day care center.

I think we need more info on what you think you are trying to do.

Sorry, I guess I should have been more clear with my intentions. I won't be camping at the fort, though that is on my list of things to do one day.

I'm looking to move to the area, and one of the things I'd like to do is go to the parks and resorts to run/walk/bike for exercise. I have a small dog and I would like to take her sometimes as well. But I also thought it might be possible to ride a bike between Epcot/DHS as a quick way to get between resorts. So basically, I just want to know if dogs and or bikes are allowed on resort running trails, the boardwalk area, ect.

You can bike around the Epcot resorts and their is a path that goes all the way to DHS but there is nowhere to park your bike (a few years ago), so you would have to take it back to your car and then find other transportation to the park if you wanted to go. The only bike racks I know of (also a few years ago) were at Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness and just outside Downtown Disney.

The West Orange Trail is really nice and has lots of places to stop. Celebration also has very good bike riding and jogging trails. At Disney the most you will find is a 2 mile trail, that is not much of a bike ride or much of a jog either.

I'm gathering you're kind of a distance person. You really can't get a lot of mileage around WDW in general since they don't allow you to run or ride along the roadways (unless you've paid them big bucks to run in one of their races, LOL...and even then the roadway parts get boring). Sadly there just isn't a network of multi-use non-motorized paths around WDW. I'm thinking there might be better networks of trails in the greater area for what you're looking to do. The best mileage you can get at WDW is between the Fort and Wilderness Lodge and then around the loops at the Fort. The mentioned trails at the Epcot resorts are available yet not very long. I can't remember the mileage, but maybe a couple of miles if you loop the whole thing. Same with a loop around some of the other resorts, but they're even smaller: CBR, CSR, the Pops.

You may want to hit the forums at City-Data and see where the locals like to do some riding and running.

Also the area and "trails" are setup for people staying at WDW and those visiting the parks. If you wanted to bike around FW or WL you would have to park at either of their parking lots which are accessed through a guard shack. You can tell them you are visiting but you may get a 3 hours parking pass.

As posted above, there really aren't paths all over the place. Just whats needed to move people around. The area between Epcot and DHS really isn't a path but a walk way designed to move people. Its possible to encounter large groups.

Not really a distant person, at least not yet. I just thought it would be much more fun to bike or walk the dog around Disney than anywhere else. I plan on spending a good bit of time on property doing research and photography/filming so I thought I'd look into the possibility of killing two birds with one stone. A track like Hourglass Lake at Pop is more than enough distance for me and doing it 2-3 times would not be boring. I just need to know what is allowed. It's sounding like dogs are not really allowed anywhere, but bikes could be used at Epcot and on resort trails?

it is possible that Disney may say something about you riding your bike around their resorts.

Like I posted above you have to go through a guard shack to get to the parking lots, I'm assuming that there is a guard shack at POP.

Yeah, your own bike on the paths might be a bit obvious and frowned upon. They do rent bikes at a few places as well as surrey bikes, but the only place I know of where you won't look too obvious on your own bike is at the Fort. I don't know what the exact rules are, it just is pretty unorthodox. Running would be a little more discreet.

If you want a semi Disney feel you can bike and take your pup to Celebration Fl.
