Bike rentals--swap??

I think I've read that people rent golf carts from off-site vendors. Has anyone rented bikes from someone other than Disney? I'd like to be able to have bikes for the entire week and don't have room to bring them from home.

I have never heard of anyone renting bikes from anywhere other than bike barn. I don't know how much they are, but I know I just bought a new bike for DS, and it was only $40. You could probably go to local walmart, buy a couple of cheap ones, use them, and give them away before you leave and be better off, just a thought.

Sounds interesting. Several people could chip in and buy them, decorate them with DIS and Fort Fiend stickers, and then swap them. You would just have to have to lock them up and share the combo with the next swapper. Maintenance? Any other issues?

SInce bikes ARE indeed cheap at walmart...buy what you need, lock them up and sell the combination to next dis'er for the full price....then that dis'er could sell the combination to the next dis'er who needs bikes...that way no one ever actually pays for them...they get their money back when they off them to the next guy. I will buy the combination for 4 bikes when we arrive...I think thats a great idea.

Just thought about this....you should buy a new combination lock after each use so that no one can resell them twice!!!

Seriously though....if you rent a bike for 2 days, you've already spent the cost of purchasing an inexpensive walmart bike. Give it away at the end of your trip. You've already come out ahead. If you cant give it away simply leave it at the trash barrel and let mousekeeping deal with it.
