We are wondering if we should do the pkg. on CC that includes snorkling, floats, and biking?? We know we want to snorkle, but where can you go on bikes? Would you reccomend this? It is me, dh and ds (8)! :Pinkbounc Please help? Would love some more info! :jumping1:

The bike trail is about a mile long. It starts at the old runway past the adult beach and ends at a beautiful beach (that you can not use). Neat to see a little of the island, and there are a few sidepaths that I assume lead to service areas and the castmembers quarters....those too are off limits.
We loved it.

The floats are nice on the calm water and the bike path is an interesting diversion from water activities, especially for an 8 year old. You can see the "adult beach" and the old runway. Have ice cream when you return. :sunny:

You can also walk the bike path which we did on our last trip. Very enjoyable and made more so by the fact they had water stations along the way.

Have a wonderful time.

We have done the bikes on our last three cruises, and we have enjoyed the bike path.We already have booked the bikes for our cruise in November.

I'm curious about the bike path too--is it really only a mile long? That would only be a 10 minute ride if we pedaled really slow. What do you do with the bike for the rest of the hour--just repeat the same path?

Thanks in advance for the info!

you and your son will enjoy the bike paths. They are about a mile out and a mile back. about 2/3 is on pavement (sidwalks and old runway) and 1/3 on dirt service road. The roads are also used by walkers and others so you get to see alot of other people and you get to see a side of the island you might not get to otherwise.

The bikes are not litespeeds that you can easly travel 24 mph on they are beach cruisers that while they are maintained, they are used around salt water.

Go out and have fun on a bike and see the island.

My ds (9 at the time) and I rented bikes on Castaway Cay. We had such a blast!!! We rode them early in the morning, before the path might get crowded. We rode down the "air strip". I took a quick look around the adult beach, and then we headed down the dirt trail. There were water coolers along the trial, which was great! The view at the end of the trail, overlooking the water was awsome!! I'd say go for it!

Do you think we need to reserve the bikes in advance, or can we do it when we get there?

We book the Castaway Cay "everything" pack 60 days in advance, but there were lots of bikes still available when we picked ours up.

We did this package last year, and enjoyed it. But it's not really necessary; none of the three components are in short supply, and you only save money if you use all three as we did.

We've always walked up and got a bike. There is always bikes available.

We rented bikes at Castaway Cay on Friday and got talking to the kind folks that write up the paperwork for you to rent bikes. They told us a new bike path is being worked on and should be ready in a few months. The new path is located about halfway up the runway on the right side as you are heading to the adult beach. We definitely could see the work started on the new path. Oh, and new bikes on Castaway too!! They were great!!!

Hmmm. Is there a place on CC where you can get ice cream anytime during the day?

New bikes would be welcome.

Just wondering if it is possible to walk the bike paths and how long would this take please.

I will have my 4.5 yr old. Has anyone done the trail with a little one? Do they have those little seats that attach to the bike?

Anyone who owns a bicycle (and actually uses it) will likely find the bikes at CC to be B O R I N G. As previously states, yes, there's only about a mile or so of bicycle trail, and the trail doesn't take you anywhere special, it's just the walking path and runway that takes you to Serenity Bay, then turns right and parallels Serenity Bay. This is the same trail the moring jogger's groups run, and it's the same trail you walk if you do the kayak excursion.
