I've been following this post b/c we are really interested in this plan. We had to cancel a cruise we booked on pts, so we are headed to Disney to use up pts, but not to parks & thought this would be great. My question (which I posted in the camping section, but no replies) is: If we are staying at the FW Cabins, is it feasible to use this plan at VWL? We have never been in this area (I'm hoping we'll like it--it's hard to follow a stay at BCV!!), so we're trying to figure this one out. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I'm 99% sure that you can. I think you just have to be staying on property cause you have to give them your room key every time you take something out.
We stayed at VWL in July and OKW in December and did the plan both times.
I'm sure you'll love it. You can ride the bikes all around FW and boating around the lake is great.

Sorry, tripletvan, all the marinas at Disney close at 5:00pm. One of the drawbacks I'm afraid, we too would have loved to take the boats out in the evening. If I remember correctly they open at 10:00 am but I'm not positive, it could be 9:00.

I hope this "Family Recreation Plan" is a win/win for Disney and us. We just returned from WDW. While we were there we went over to the WL marina to check on this plan for our June trip. We picked up a Wilderness Lodge Recreation Price List that included the Family Recreation Plan. As others have stated it costs $211.92 (tax included) for up to 5 guests. It is for unlimited use of motorboats, sailboats and mongoose bicycles throughout length of stay. Since we will be staying 5 nights at OKW and 3 nights at BWV, I asked the CM if this would be for our entire stay, and he said it would if there was no break in nights - that is if they still offered the plan. I hope they will offer it. We rarely rent the watercraft because with APs, golf, shopping, etc. there is always more to do than time. With this plan, if available, Disney will get $199 for rentals that we don't usually buy, and we will have a great time (weather permitting) getting a bargain.

Ellen aka Snow White, to answer your question, I really don't know if it is for DVC members only, becauses we are DVC members and will be using points for our stay, so it isn't an issue for us. That having been said, there is nothing on the recreation price sheet that I picked up at the Wilderness Lodge that makes any reference to DVC or even resort guests with the exception of the Family Recreation Plan that does say throughout length of stay. It sounds like lots of fun, and a good buy - especially for the teenagers.

I'm pretty sure this plan is for any WDW resort guest. I've read about it in other places. Offsite guests can also use the recreation, but it doesn't sound like they can get the special deal.

And it's true that, if you have more than 5 people in your party - you've got to decide which of the 5 you want on the plan, correct?

You can't switch the people around while maintaining 5 on the list, right?

I was told that the 5 people must be decided on when you sign up - so no you can't switch later.

Is this plan available at OKW Marina? With only a few water mice I could see a problem offering it there. We would love the regular bikes for exercise each day and the boats once a day.

the only resort that I know that offers this was WL - Crbalb has says that BCV can do it also.

OKW does not have this program - but I think OKW has cheaper prices in the first place?

The plan is not limited to DVC. It is offered at GF and the Poly, too. We have used it at both of those resorts. It's great!

Just for another twist can you "bounce" from poly to BC? Meaning can I use it at both resorts or does it have to stay at the original? we will be starting off at the the Comtemporary and moving to BW/

You can use it for your length of stay even if you switch resorts, BUT you can not switch marinas. The plan is tied to the marina, so if you purchase it at the Wilderness Lodge you can't then use equipment at the Yacht Club.

Here is another question. We will be tent camping at FW the last two weeks of August. Just the other night I asked my husband to keep his eyes open for 4 cheap bikes we could take with us. The question is if you sign up for the Family Recreation Plan are you allowed to keep the bikes only for a limited time (1 hr, 2hrs)? do they have to be returned each night before a specific time each day or can you keep them the whole time your there?

I understand with the watermice etc you get limited time which is fine but my original thought about getting the cheap bikes was to maybe avoid the whole bus thing when trying to get to EE and just riding the bikes to marina and chaining them up while we're at the parks. Any ideas?
