Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

Thanks ladies for all the kind words. I'd love to somehow incorporate Disney. Yes, go ahead and laugh but its been such a huge part of our lives. Heck, I already told him if we have a girl I found a Minnie crib bedding set (in pink). If we have a boy I found a Disney's Cars nursery set.

I'm still racking my brain trying to figure out a creative way to do it. I didn't get to surprise Josh back in 05 because well he was in the dr's office when they came in and said "Congrats your pregnant!" :). I want to make it something that he'll remember years from now.

Any ideas what else I can do with these keys? I saved a few.... maybe fridge magnets? I thought that would be fun with the ones that say things like "save" "delete" etc. Couldn't spell out anyone's name in the family because the letters were worn off of several of the significant letters like A, E, S, D. (oh my gosh.... can you tell I've spent WAAAAAYYY too much time on Pinterest lately?? Just throw the stupid keyboard away already!!:rotfl2: )

:rotfl2: Say good-bye to the keyboard, Pamela. :wave2:

Evening everybody

Dropping in to say I haven't died. I've been lurking a little, just not posting. Doing a lot of thinking the past few days and some talking with DH about different things, but that's a novel I'll get around to at a later time. Cause I want to post about it, just not yet.

My week has gone decently, getting through work at Target and getting things done around the house. I have gotten things done that I have neglected for months and now have a bit of a schedule for me to get them done on a regular basis. At least for now. Also gotten my workouts i with the new video. Still hard and I let a little air out of my ball today and that helps. I can feel the difference in myself already. Hopefully I will soon be seeing it as well. :thumbsup2

Back tomorrow popcorn::

You are right... that is what I SHOULD have done. Instead, I popped off a bunch of the keys, put them in a ziptop baggie in the craft closet, and THEN threw the keyboard away. What will probably happen is that I will forget they are there, I will clean out the craft closet next year, and then feel like an idiot for putting those in there to sit for so long.... THEN I will throw them away! :lmao:

Hope everything is okay. Glad to hear you are getting stuff done and keeping up with workouts!

I too have been getting stuff done that has been neglected for a long time. It must be the time of year. I always get a "nesting and cleaning" instinct that kicks in in early fall.

Morning friends! Off to a few yard sales with DD in a bit, but wanted to say g'morning. I offered DS pancakes for breakfast today (last night), but he isn't up yet, so I guess I won't worry about it for now.

DD and I are having a laugh right now because I dreamed about Michael Phelps ALL NIGHT last night!! Wish I could have given her my dreams!:rotfl2:

Nothing too exciting on the schedule for the weekend, except for DS's paintball clinic tomorrow. But that is okay with me. I could use a weekend at home to catch up on EVERYTHING (housework, scrapping, yardwork, etc).

Trying to use up some stuff in my freezers so that I have room to do some freezer meals. These are so helpful in the fall when things get crazy. Probably won't be as crazy as usual, as DS isn't playing soccer this year and DD HOPEFULLY will be driving herself to most practices this fall, but I still want to be prepared. Last night was a complete "use from the freezer" meal.... beef tenderloin (it was delish... we were practically fighting over the last of it!), frozen "Steamfresh" rice/veggie combo (not sure why I bought that... on sale with a coupon probably), and frozen broccoli (I think I bought it to make broccoli soup... we don't normally eat frozen veggies). Tonight is chicken drumsticks (either baked or on the grill, depending on the rain status), whole wheat couscous (found an abundance in the pantry). Will need to stop and buy veggies while I'm out as we are down to a handful of baby spinach, a half a head of broccoli, one potato, and a few carrots and onions.

Anyhow, anyone have any great freezer meal suggestions? I've found a bunch of ideas/recipes on Pinterest and I of course have a bunch that I have always done.... just looking to change it up a bit. I already have a large quantity of frozen homemade chicken stock and veggie stock, ready for lots of fall soups. Will probably make my usual healthy meatloaf (make 2-3 at a time), red-white-and-green chicken chili, and ???

Off to enjoy a cup of coffee, make pancakes for the kids, and head out to a few yard sale (to buy things I don't need with money I don't have! :rotfl: )......................P

Morning Everyone!

So, last night, I met with my new nutritionist. (I think it will be more like I have 2 nutritionists though.) I have guidelines for what I'm supposed to be eating everyday. They are similar to WW's, but less dairy and more healthy fats. I'm supposed to be eating nuts. I can't (and dislike) eat peanuts and tree nuts are pretty much out. I did eat chopped almonds this week and did not run to the bathroom so almonds are a winner. Or at least chopped almonds are a winner. I cannot eat walnuts (got to love hypothyroidism) and tested positive for allergies to cashews and hazelnuts, though I did not react when I tried 1 of each a few months post-testing. I don't even like hazelnuts. Maybe I will try cashews again. I do like those. She also recommended avocados. I'm the only one who will eat them and I'm only supposed to eat 1/4 at a time. How do I store the remaining portions? I also get to eat as many non-starchy veggies as I want (aka can tolerate). I'm gradually finding veggies I can tolerate. The bummer is that spinach is a no. Broccoli seems to be fine, though I haven't tried a full portion of it yet. And, I am supposed to have 3 servings of fruit a day. I'm lucky if I eat two. Plus, a serving is 1 cup of watermelon, not 1/2 cup like on some programs. She asked that I follow the plan she developed for me for a month. I can do this. She created a journal for me as well and that will help a lot.

So, I better go eat my morning snack. I've had 1 serving of protein (out of 5) and a serving of fruit today. I'm so far behind and not at all hungry. Lots more eating to go...

Sounds like a lot to work with. How about trying a nut butter if you don't like or can't tolerate the nuts whole? Obviously my first thought was Nutella, as it seems like you can have hazelnuts.... but that is SUPER calorie dense and full of sugar, so maybe not the best choice. How about cashew nut butter or sun butter (sunflower seeds)? Like them both myself.

Non-starchy veggies.... how about grilled zucchini, roasted green beans with onion or a carrot salad?? Just thinking out loud here. Hopefully these new changes will help you feel better and better!

***********************

Afternoon friends! Morning got a bit waylaid (DH and DD had a few choice words about the cleanliness [or lack of] of her rooms) and we had a bit of cleaning to do before we headed out. I didn't disagree with him that it needed to be done, but the timing was bad. I did help a bit with the actual "cleaning" (toilet, sink, counter, vacuuming), but she did the picking up. Really it wasn't too bad.... mostly just clothes tossed around and make-up all over the counter.

When we finally made it to the yard sale, it was pretty small, but we got a few good deals. DS grabbed a snowboard and I saw some mason jars (the old kinds with the glass lids and wire bails... but clear, not the blue that I like so much). I offered the guy $7 for both and he took it. The snowboard will probably need new bindings and a tune-up and then we will have to decide on either buying or renting boots (want to see if his feet are done growing). But if it works, this should be a board that will last him a few years.

DD and I of course have lots of crafty ideas for the abundance of mason jars. Think we got about 10 or 12. They are in the dishwasher for now. I will use some in my scrapping area probably. I already have about 3-4 filled with buttons, ribbons, Prima flowers, etc. Not sure if I really need any more there.

Lunch was boring selection of leftovers, but at least I used stuff up and my belly is full.

Off to town so DD can practice her "city" driving and we can FINALLY get her school supplies! ..................P

Hi all,

I have decided that tomorrow will be the day I get back to old habits (good ones). This past summer has just been so frustrating and I have had no time to focus on me at all. I love my parents but this summer was really hard on me. Work has been busy and frustrating. I feel I have been asked too much of lately and I just need a break. I have felt pretty down most of the afternoon today. I haven't been able to figure out what I wanted to do or what to eat or anything. I am feeling horrible about my food choices and am hoping that getting back on track will make me feel better. I have a 5K in about 4-5 weeks that I really need to start training for as well.

Brian has a job interview/presentation on Monday night that we hope will make our lives better. My car needs work and I keep forgetting to make the appt. It's also due for its inspection. I just reminded Brian about his car too. I think I'm going to need new breaks and we're hoping nothing else is wrong with it.

My birthday was this past week and I really need to think about what's best for me and my family. That will be mainly eating healthy again and exercising daily!

My plan is to do the elliptical and try out an Herbalife workout program that I bought several months ago tomorrow. I have to stop being lazy! My clothes are getting tight again which is not making me happy!

Thanks for letting me vent! I'm just exhausted emotionally and physically!

Hugs to everyone else needing it! I will be more active next round!

Love to you all!

Hello all. Just a quick check in to see how everyone is doing. It looks like some people need  Life can get so busy and stressful and it seems like lots of us put others first. Let remember to put ourselves first!

Today was another day of cleaning (after grocery shopping). I vacuumed and did laundry today. It's harder for me to clean on the weekends since DH sleeps most of the day after working midnights. I also snuck ina nap. What? I haven't seen a nap in a LONG time! I walked the dog for 50 minutes this morning (3.5 miles), then grocery shopped. After I put all the groceries away, I made dinner and put it in the slow cooker to keep warm. So, at 3:00 when I laid down to read, I fell asleep. I slept on/off for about 2 hours! It felt so nice to be refreshed. I probably won't see extra sleep until 2013, so I'll take it :)

Tomorrow we will go to church and then home to relax and make dinner. We are going to a baseball game at 5:05 and it's about 20 minutes away. It's a farm type team for the Cleveland Indians and we got free general admission tickets. DH can only stay for an hour, so I think we'll drive separately in case the kids want to stay longer. I'm hoping to eat dinner right at 4 so the kids aren't "starving" at the game and I don't have to spend much money. I'm hoping to get away with a bag of peanuts (and I may try to bring those with me).

I am super motivated to be back on plan this week. I think I've done better with both eating and exercising. I kind of let myself go the last couple weeks, so I am hoping for a loss this week to motivate me to keep going (ww weigh in tomorrow morning).

Well, enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'll be back to check in.

Jill

I know things have been absolutely crazy for you for the past many months, with your parents' health issues and DH's job loss, plus health issues for your kids and craziness at your job. I'm sure that life has felt absolutely out of control. Hopefully getting a handle on your eating and exercise will make everything feel a bit better. I find Fall to be a GREAT time for a fresh start. The kids are off to a new school year, the weather is cooling down (so great for housework, yard work, and exercise!) and the busy fall/winter holiday season will be here soon!

You'll be getting your old mojo back in no time!

IT is so hard for us to remember that in order to care for others, we need to care for ourselves first!

Too bad we can't "bank" sleep hours! DD would definitely be banking some for the school year ahead! Glad your nap refreshed you. I usually wake from a nap feeling headachy and groggy. :confused3

Morning all! I've been up for a long time, but had to get the kids out the door. DS is attending a paintball clinic day at the field and DD is visiting with a friend who is leaving for college this week. I hit two yard sales on the way home from dropping DD off and spent just a few $ but I think I scored some good stuff! More mason jars (I think I have a disease), 4 SUPER CUTE metal trivets shaped like veggies (originally from Crate and Barrel.... I paid $2 for the lot!), a picture frame/hanger to give to DMIL with the kids school pictures, and a small planter full of succulents (just bought some for DD yesterday and they were $3 each at Home Depot!).

Planter has already found a home in the mudroom for now. Will move the kitchen when the weather gets colder. Got a great nearly-new back pack in black and pink that I am hoping DD will love. I haven't bought her one yet this year..... but for $2 I'm not out much if she doesn't love it.

I plan to possibly frame the vegetable trivets for the kitchen. They are a shiny metal (nickel??), but they have a bit of corrosion. I have washed them and given them a rubdown with Goo-Gone and they look better, but I think the only help for the corrosion might be spray paint. I need to decide if they look okay as-is or if I'm going to paint them. A coat of shiny metallic paint would make them look nice, but they would lose that nice heavy original metal look. I will let them sit and look at them for a while before I decide.

Well... unmade beds are calling me! Then a bit of scrapping time before I pick up DD at her friend's house...........................P

Your craftiness exhausts me lol. I am not crafty at all. I mean at all. I look on pintrest with envy because I just don't know how people come up with these ideas! I would've looked at the trivets & thought "junk" and would never have bought them. I've been looking at a site I found called "make it do." It's a blog type site & she quilts (amongst other things). Whoa. I do not have a creative bone is this body. So, I will just live vicariously through you & other crafty people.

My day is getting away from me. Do we not have a coach this week? I missed a lot this challenge but I know it was discussed to not have weigh ins & all that next challenge. Was anything ever decided. I really like coming here for the accountability. I could probably do without the QOTD since I might miss days here & there. I don't mind keeping track of my own weigh ins & posting amount lost or gained (I hope not) just for accountability. Hmmm...any other thoughts?

I was hoping to get a workout in today, but since we went to church, I hate to get all sweaty & have to shower & get ready again before this baseball game we are going to. I know, lazy excuse. Maybe I'll work out when we get home. I don't like working out at night, but I need to get these last 7 lbs off to reach a goal. Ideally, I'd like 12 or more total gone to be where i want to be forever. It's sooooo hard to get this last few pounds to go. Grrrrr.

Anyhow, I'm off to get some stuff done before I have to start prepping an early dinner. Have a great day :)

Jill

Thanks, Pam! It has been an out of control summer and I'm ready to take control again!

Been cleaning the girls' rooms all day today. I got Izzie's room done and decided to help Ash with hers. Of course, I'm finding things in Ash's room that should go in Izzie's so I will have to rework some of Izzie's when I finish Ash's room!

Took a break to have an early supper of baked ham and a salad. I fixed myself a drink but have been good! No snacking!

Gotta run some errands with the girls in the morning.

Time to get ready to finish Ash's room or at least try to finish! She has more junk than a junkyard! I've already filled over 2 garbage bags with more to come!

I don't have a lot of original ideas, but thanks to things like Pinterest, I do get inspired! I can handle a glue gun, circular saw, or sewing machine as good as the next person, so I am not intimidated to at least try stuff. Sometimes it work, sometimes it doesn't.

I was noticing there was no QOTD, but wasn't sure if someone was just a little behind or not. I'll post a QOTD for today (since it is getting late) and I'll pick up the slack for this week if no one comes forward tomorrow.

I feel the same way about showering! I am just plain lazy (plus I have a lot of hair to shampoo), so I plan my days/workouts accordingly. I NEVER shower twice in one day!

Junk? No one has JUNK like my DD! Love her, but wow! But unfortunately, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I am a bit of a hoarder with somethings myself (scrapping supplies), but I am NEAT!

******************

Evening all! Didn't get nearly as much accomplished as I should have today, but it was a nice semi-lazy day.

Took down the mirror project that I "finished" last week (for the mudroom) and put a new coat of paint on it. I didn't like the way it turned out, so I am trying something new.

Dinner was burgers on the grill and broccoli. I had Gardenburgers, family had beef cheeseburgers. I don't miss the "real" burgers at all. The lack of guilt as I am chomping down on a big double Gardenburger with lettuce and tomato on a toasted Sandwich thin or in a low carb wrap far exceeds the taste (but calories and guilt) of a beef burger.

Kids are craving some dessert and I have no tricks left up my sleeve (I sometimes have a brownie or two or a few cookies in the freezer). As there is no fruit in the house, I guess they are SOL for tonight! oh well!:rotfl:

Off to finish folding some stuff for DD.... she dug a MOUNTAIN of clean stuff out of her room that needs to be refolded...:headache:. I know, I know.... I should make her do it. :crazy2:

TTYL.........................P

SUBSTITUTE QOTD for Sunday 8/19:

Are you a hoarder or a minimalist? If you hoard, is it anything in particular? If you are a minimalist, how far do you take it? Do you get rid of gifts right after the holiday if you KNOW you won't use it?

In that same vein.... are you a "user" or a "saver"? Do you get something new and save it for that just-right moment? Or do you use it immediately, figuring that you might as well enjoy it?

I'm a hoarder of certain things, but I am a neat organized hoarder. I tend to buy/collect/gather (aka HOARD) scrapbook materials and containers. I LOVE containers! Good thing there is not a Container Store near me (never been to one) or we might be broke! I love storage tubs, bins, baskets, boxes, cannisters, jars, shelves, etc. I figure it has to do with my extreme love of organizing.

I am also a SAVER. I tend to save things for that "just-right" moment (which come times never comes). I find I am always saving a new article of clothing for another day.... but I need to start forcing myself to wear things instead of saving them. They WILL go out of style someday! :rotfl: I will die with NWT things in my closet and dresser, I just know it.... as will my Dad and possibly DD.................P

Ok Sundays QOTD ---Ok I live in a 1972 2 bedroom moblie home and have a little shed but I am a horder (but not extreme like on TV) I have tons of reciepts and scrapbook stuff.. I have a BIG bunch of Eeyores i've collected.. and I LOVE Christmas decorations! I do try to weed out every now and then ..
part 2 I am a Saver as well which explains all the scrapping stuff - i know I'll need for the just the right page so into a tote/bin it goes for then..
GREAT QUESTION!!

Good morning all!

CC, sounds like your new nutritionist is committed to helping you find a food plan that works for you. :thumbsup2 A little lemon juice can help avocado keep it's color. Also, ask about the timing of the goiterens because you may be able to eat some of them, just not within a few hours of when you take your meds. I will be very interested to hear how things go. :cool2:

Tracey, pixiedust: to Brian on his presentation today. Lots of us hopping back in the wagon at the end of summer. :goodvibes

Jill, I'm another one of those folks who are not crafty at all but admire those who are. :goodvibes Sounds like you had a great week-end!

I think our coach is MIA this week but thanks to Pamela for doing a question yesterday. We can take turns doing QOTD this week so if you want some help please let us know. This is a busy week for you I'm sure. :flower3:

We are switching from hoarding to minimalists. DH (yeah the guy who came up with a jacket from the 80's on a moments notice ;)) aspires to have all of our belongings fit in a golf cart by the time we retire. He does concede it will have to be a 4 seater to fit the kid and the pets. :rotfl: I will get rid of stuff right away if I won't use it but I do put some thought into who might make the best use of it, school, church, charity. As I've grown older I appreciate more that "stuff" will never change my life like my relationships with people do.

I came from a long line of "savers." We had oodles of good stuff we could never use because we were always saving it for a something. Well, guess what special occassions came and went and we never used the special glasses, bowls, etc. They always sat in the cupboard being "saved." DH's family was exactly the opposite they used the good stuff all the time. Sure it got dropped, broken and glued back together but you just turn the bad part to the back and it works fine. :rotfl: They even use the silver all the time! :faint:

I am trying to be somewhere in the middle. I do use the good glasses and silverware on occasion. I even used the neighbors "good" towels from 40 years ago when I was using their guest bathroom at the reunion -- they were still there and the only towels out. Boy, did I feel guilty. :guilty:

This was a great question, Pamela! Sometimes I think our mental and physical "stuff" drags us down and prevents us from reaching our goals. :hippie:

Ok Sundays QOTD ---Ok I live in a 1972 2 bedroom moblie home and have a little shed but I am a horder (but not extreme like on TV) I have tons of reciepts and scrapbook stuff.. I have a BIG bunch of Eeyores i've collected.. and I LOVE Christmas decorations! I do try to weed out every now and then ..
part 2 I am a Saver as well which explains all the scrapping stuff - i know I'll need for the just the right page so into a tote/bin it goes for then..
GREAT QUESTION!!

Have you ever looked into scanning those receipts to save them? We've spent the last couple of years converting our Mom & Pop law office into a paperless office. It's been a process but so much better not to have to chase that paper that you can't find half the time anyway. If we can do it, anyone can! ::yes::

Have a great day everyone! Make good choices and finish strong! :cool2:

SUBSTITUTE QOTD for Sunday 8/19:

Are you a hoarder or a minimalist? If you hoard, is it anything in particular? If you are a minimalist, how far do you take it? Do you get rid of gifts right after the holiday if you KNOW you won't use it?

In that same vein.... are you a "user" or a "saver"? Do you get something new and save it for that just-right moment? Or do you use it immediately, figuring that you might as well enjoy it?

I'm a hoarder and a minimalist!! I hoard until I can't stand it anymore then I purge like a madman. LOL

I am a saver to an extent, but now I'm putting expiration dates on stuff. If it's not used by X date, it just goes.
Everyone else in the house are hoarders. Especially DD since she started watching Craft Wars. Mom, we can use this to make a craft!!! OMG!!

Like clothes, I purge at the end of every season. I used to love big chunky sweaters but on the hanger and on me are 2 different things. So I'll have 2-3 sweaters that I love but they look like crap on me. So at the end of the season they are gone. I'd rather wear a thin long sleeve shirt and a hoodie.
DH on the other hand has probably 50 t-shirts (thanks to work), but wears the same ones over and over. But hangs onto the others, ERGH!! He also has t-shirts that are 20 years old. I'm like dude, time to let it go! He won't wear it because it's worn out and holey but he won't toss it because "it's my favorite". Drives me nuts!!!

I mostly hoard scrap supplies and it's because the papers are so darn nice and cute now, I need to wait to find the perfect picture to go with it. LOL
I'm trying to purge now but I've done it twice already and I've pretty much gotten rid of all the crappy stuff. It's hard to let go of the good stuff.

AGH!!! I made it to 100 days on MFP then blew it over the weekend, family drama.
Crap, now I'm back to square one again.

I need to get back into some kind of good food routine.
The kids start school next Monday. Then XC season kicks into high gear. I will become BFF's with the crock pot.

Any meal ideas would be appreciated!!!

My goal is to not eat out in September unless it's dinner on a weekend meet day. Those are all day events and if DS runs Varsity, we are there all day because he would run last.

Sounds a bit like me with the scrapping stuff. I'm always saving it for "just the right page"!

I think our coach is MIA this week but thanks to Pamela for doing a question yesterday. We can take turns doing QOTD this week so if you want some help please let us know. This is a busy week for you I'm sure. :flower3:

I don't mind stepping in. I haven't coached this summer. This week isn't too bad for me actually.

I am trying hard to not be that kind of saver. I rarely use my "good" flatware (holidays only) and I have "good" china I've probably used less than 10 times in the past 20 years. Maybe it is time for it to GO!

Those small Neat Desk scanners are pricey (although there are a few types out there), but they are great. We have a HUGE scanner that is rarely used. I bought DH one of those tiny types to use for receipts and stuff for work. He wasn't using it (he is a disorganized type and there is no changing that I guess) and so he got DS to load it onto his laptop. He will use it scan homework and such. That way, if he loses the homework before he turns it in (yup, it's happened), he will have a back-up!

I'm with you on the bulky sweaters. I owned many when I was heavier. What was I thinking/?? I'm sure they just made ME look bulky! :rotfl2: I stick strictly with thin knits now.

100 days is IMPRESSIVE! Don't be too disappointed with yourself and DO NOT beat yourself up over missing the weekend. THat is a GREAT accomplishment and you shoudl be proud!

I'm trying a new crockpot recipe later this week (Spicy Asian beef). I let you know if it is as good as it sounds.

I know you have some definite food issues in your house. I'll throw out a few ideas (and forgive me if these are repeats), but I understand if they don't work for you all.

Chicken cacciatore in the crockpot... this is nice because it can use almost any type of chicken.... boneless/skinless breast is good and cooks quickly, but I find it to be dry. I often use skinless leg quarters for this. They do fall apart at the end and you need to be careful of the bones, but it isn't usually a problem for us.

Throw the chicken in the crockpot. Dump on some sliced onions and peppers. Sometimes I sautee them first, but often I'll just soften them in the microwave. Dump your favorite spaghetti sauce on top, cover and cook all day. Serve as is or on top of pasta. Side salad and crusty bread is nice too.

Hamburger soup in the crockpot. Easy-peasy lemon squeezy! Throw browned ground beef in the crockpot. Add diced carrots, onions, potatoes (could also add corn, celery, green beans, kidney beans). Fill crockpot with soup base (original recipe I had used canned tomato soup, but I don't like the HFCS). I use V-8 juice as my base usually.... have also used generic vegetable juice, tomato juice, and occasionally throw in a can of diced tomatoes.

Cover and cook all day. Serve with cheese to sprinkle on top or with cheese toast or a side salad.... or just AS-IS, which is how my family usually gets it!

BBQ pulled pork in the crockpot. Select a nice lean pork loin or tenderloin (loin is much cheaper). Sprinkle with seasonings (optional but I often use sage, garlic and/or onion powder, tumeric, cumin). Place in crockpot fat side up (if it is obvious). PUt just a few tablespoons of liquid in to cover the bottom (I think it helps it stay moister in the beginning stages of cooking). I have used water, veggie stock, and apple juice.

Cover and cook all day (but not past 8 hours... the pork will get dry). Turn crockpot to "warm", pull out roast and remove/discard visible fat. Shred pork apart with two forks. Return to crockpot (and don't worry if there is liquid in there. I usually leave it unless it just looks like a lot of fat.) and add BBQ of choice (homemade, bottled, whatever) and stir to cover pork.

Serve on whole wheat buns or Sandwich Thins. I usually put additional bbq sauce on the table for those who might want a wetter sandwich. Serve with a nice green salad or broccoli salad or slaw.

Whole chicken in the crockpot. THis is truly a whole meal in one pot.

Fill the bottom of a LARGE crockpot with onions, carrots, and potatoes (cut to large chunks).

Rinse and dry a whole roaster. Place an onion in the cavity and season the outside with rosemary, salt, and pepper. Place whole chicken on top of veggies in crockpot. (You may have to rearrange some of the veggies to be sure that the lid can go on. It is okay to surround the chicken with veggies.)

Dump some white wine and chicken stock into the pot (taking care to NOT rinse the seasonings from the chicken). I usually go with anywhere from 2-3 cups of liquid. I want the veggies covered at least.

Cover and cook all day (you can add more liquid if it seems to be drying out. Some crockpots allow for more evaporation than others.) Remove chicken from crockpot (it will be falling apart by this point). Dish veggies straight from the crockpot in their yummy liquid and serve chicken next to it. No need to carve the chicken, as it will just fall apart.

THat's all I got for now!

MOrning friends! I'll be posting QOTD in a minute!

Had a lazy morning here, but won't have many of those for a long, long time, so we enjoyed it. Splurged and made pancakes for the kids AGAIN! Chocolate chip this time, but still healthy high fiber pancakes with flaxseed and wheat germ. ;) Egg white wrap for myself, although I will say I was highly tempted by the pancakes.

Nothing at ALL on the agenda for today!! Can you believe it??? But we still don't have school supplies for DD, so we will probably head out for those and splurge on either lunch or dinner out (DH is away tonight), depending on the timing and what I can find a coupon for! :thumbsup2

Sun is shining here and temps are a bit cool for August, but I'm NOT complaining.... but fall is definitely in the air. :sad2:
