Thanks for the advice. I did talk to her yesterday and mentioned how this is not a competition. I told DH that I am thrilled that she is feeling better and feels better about herself. I wish she would just be honest. Yesterday she weighed in and lost over 2 pounds. She is very close to her goal weight which is great. When I said, "Wow great job. You must've really busted your butt this week," she replied "No, not really. I ate crappy and only walked twice." Now, there is no way she could only walk twice and eat crappy (according to her she ate out a few times and ate donuts all weekend) and lost 2 pounds (especially when she only has about 3 more to go). So, here I am tracking all my food and busting my butt and at a plateau all while she eats donuts and loses 2 pounds. That's what gets me all worked up. Sorry, I just ranted again lol. But, I've over it. If she wants to lie to me and herself, then so be it.
In the long run she will only be hurting herself. THis is NOT a sprint, but a marathon. It is possible that she is eating crappy and losing, but that WILL catch up with her eventually.
Like/Love~1. My organization. I often tell DH that if something ever happens to me, he's going to be in trouble! The kids will never see a doctor or dentist & probably won't have any lunch money lol. 2. I love to cook and bake. I think I'm pretty good at it and so does my family. Oh, and my coworkers often ask when I'm baking certain things for them, so they must enjoy it too!
Change~1. I stress too much about small things. I have always stressed, even as a child. 2. My decorating skills/craftiness is lacking. Okay, it's nonexistant. I wish I could be slightly creative and have to time to do it!
I think Pamela helped with lots of ideas, but can you get a cooler lunch bag or a thermos. That way you can mix up your lunches. I am looking online for lunch box ideas for my boys for school this year. I found a site called easy lunch boxes (dot com~no spaces). They sell Bento boxes and a cooler bag. They have a picture gallery of lunches and I got some good(healthy) ideas there. I just got my boys' school lunch calendar (they buy about 1/3 of the time) and I told them that we are sitting down & thinking of some good lunches I can pack.
Oh no, I am so sorry about your dad. Luckily, it sounds like it can be taken care of pretty easily. My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer while I was in college. It actually changed his outlook on life. When he was feeling well, he and my mom were constantly taking little weekend getaways or day trips. He took time off work and relaxed, too. He was an engineer (the V.P. at his firm) and worked extremely hard. It was nice to see him living life to the fullest. Unfortunately, he died a year after he was diagnosed, but he had a great last year. I hope this doesn't affect your dad's mental state! Maybe the family can continue to keep him up & going! I will be praying for you and your family for a quick, positive ending.
Thanks for the prayers!
Thrift stores confuse me. Our Goodwill is so cramped. The prices are reasonable on clothes, though, and I have found a few nice items. Sometimes I do not understand the pricing on other things, though. Old, ratty couch for $100? You can go to a discount store like Big Lots and get a brand new couch for a little more money.

I do donate a lot to our Goodwill, but am also going to look into our Salvation Army. I think they have a store with hours once a week or so.
All of the SA around us closed. Even our GWs have opened, closed, moved, etc. But I think we finally got two GWs that are here to stay (Concord and Manchester). Nice big bright stores.
But I agree with you about prices. And let's face it.... as much as I love a good thrift store bargain, I'd be concerned about bringing home a sofa at ANY price.... bed bugs are making a comeback and I would be afraid of that sort of thing. Anything "soft" that I bring home (clothes and such) makes an immediate trip to the washer and dryer. And books I usually leave in the garage for a day or two until I can be sure there are no creepy crawlies. I am TRULY NOT a germophobic or bug-phobic, but I am a bit cautious.
Anyhow, I think the upper management at these stores needs a reality dose. I understand marking some of the better brand name stuff up a BIT higher than the rest, but why would I pay $12 for a pair of used American Eagle jeans with a very limited/nonexistent return policy and questionable stains when I can get them off the clearance rack at AE RIGHT NOW for just $14??
And $1.99 for a mason jar (with or without lid)??? I can buy a DOZEN brand new ones with lids at Walmart for about $12!??
RANT OVER!

DH is going kayaking after school so I will not be able to go to spinning tonight. I better get up and do something here at home. DSs have appointments for haircuts at JCPenneys at 4:00. I have never taken them there and since Penneys offered the free haircuts, I thought we'd try it out. I figured I'd tip the girls really well and it'll still cost less than one haircut. DH usually just cuts their hair with clippers, but I want it really sharp and clean for the 1st day of school.
Nice of you to remember to tip the hairdressers well. I know that Tracey was complaining about the lack of tipping with people using the Groupons. I can see that being a problem. The kids will look spiffy!
I am also planning on washing sheets today. I hate to admit this, but I do not wash sheets enough. Oprah once said that she has her sheets changed daily. It must be nice!
Actually, I wouldn't like that. I like my sheets after they have been on a day or two. They soften up a bit. That said, I do love that "fresh from the line" smell and will sometimes wash just the pillowcases to get that smell back! However, someone to change my sheets on MY schedule would be delightful!
Other than that & going through the school lunch menu (and coming up with some lunch ideas to pack), it's going to be a nice, relaxing day. Hope everyone has a nice, relaxing day!
