With all the talk about school starting up I have this question?

Have you ever been to DW or DL for a special holiday?

Yes! Well, sorta...I was there two years ago in December and last year we went in October for the Halloween party and I must say, I like the Halloween party better! I love Christmas and all, but I have a soft spot for all things spooky :)

So this weekend is an official 5k weekend! I'm doing what's called the Rockn'Run 5k here in Charlotte. All the proceeds go to the local Second Harvest food bank, so I can't turn down a charity! Plus I really need to get my butt in gear as far as my training- I've been slack a little lately (in pretty much all aspects of training!) so I think with an official run I'll be able to get on schedule easier. I'll be sure to post pictures!

Hi all,

Well, my parents left this morning. They were hoping to make it to VA by tonight and then they will finish the drive tomorrow. I guess it's going well.

Happy to announce that we have finally hired another therapist at the spa. I met her today. It will take a big load off of my plate. She will start on Saturday which helps me out as I will have done 15 massages by noon on Saturday. I'm going to take as many Saturdays off as I can but will also get first dibs at all the full paying clients at the spa. She's going to do my Thursday nights as well. We will split some of the Tuesday nights as well. I'm going to do Wednesday nights and she will do the day. Right now we don't have anyone during the day on Wednesdays to do massages so this will be a big help. There are a few Saturdays that we will both work. She has her own set up and we will get her moved into that room next week. I really needed this today. She gave me a 30 minute massage focusing on my back. It was great and we plan on trading massages A LOT to help each other and teach each other techniques. I'm very excited about this. It will help me become a better therapist.

Stomach is bothering me tonight. Probably from all the stress and the greasy pizza we had last night. Thinking about going out to dinner tomorrow night as I have several free dinners for my birthday that I would like to use. Hoping to take the kids to the movies on Monday during the day. Hoping Brian can join us.

Been hot here again today. Foot is doing well. It was a strange and brief injury.

I could really fall asleep right now! I've been up since 5:30 and we loaded up my parents car for about 90 minutes and then I was at work the rest of the day!

Catching up on some recordings right now!

TTFN :tigger:

PS Hoping to start using my elliptical next week and I really need to start training for my 5K!

Yep I was in Florida Christmas of 98. This was when I was a cast member(mousekeeper). We went to MGM(guess its not that anymore though huh?) Christmas day(my dad, stepmom and stepsister along with her then 4 month old daughter). I love Disney at Christmas time.
Some year I really want to go for Halloween time.

I am all about the VIllians. I have a Villian poster in my classroom. ONe class asked why did I have the villians. I told them that they are the ones I enjoy the most. One student's reply was "Mrs. Coffey I never knew you had a dark side."

Who is you favorite villian?

I do like Captain Hook. I have met him a couple of times. I also love Cruella.

Off to get ready for my class.

Have a happy and healthy day.

I like all the villians ... I tend to think they have some "personality". I heard Disney used to have a Villians dinner. I really would have liked to attend that one ... especially with my teenage boys!

Good Thursday morning

Final day teaching today. Then I have to start getting ready for my trip next week.

I have been moving pretty slow this morning so I have to get moving.

The last time we were there they were getting ready to set up for Halloween. Everytime we went back to MK they added more things for Halloween. I know that dh has planned that we have to see Halloween and Christmas (NOT Christmas week)

Off to get dressed.

Have a happy and healthy day.

I was at Disney one year when I was on a sabbatical in early December. It was wonderful seeing all the decorations. We also saw the MVMCP and the Candlelight Processional at Epcot .... absolutely wonderful.

***********************************

Haven't been on here for a while ... sorry. Trying to juggle getting a few house projects done along with taking boys to all their activities that are going on. Whew this time of year gets SO busy.

I am nursing a bad cough today. I was power washing our sidewalks and tackled a part of our house that had chipped paint and was very dirty. I covered my eyes and ears ... but should have wore a mask! Could not stop coughing last night and was up most of the evening. I don't see the doctor very often and made an appointment to see one today. He told me that I have inflamed my lungs ... and my allergies to mold didn't help.

I start back to work in a week and have a lot going on in this week. I need to feel better here ... :headache: Anyway, I probably won't be on here too much in the next couple of weeks.

I have fallen off the wagon and need to get back on. I gained 2 more pounds this week and boy does it make me feel blah. I was on such a good roll before I went on vacation. Why is it so easy to put on weight and so darn hard to get it back off?

Oh well, thanks for listening to my whining everyone. :listen:

Dona ... I have sent you some good wishes for your son's job. Let us know how it goes.

Trina ... I think quitting Petsmart is a positive move for you. Lots of stress involved with that job. You could find another one if need be that might suit you better.

Have a great day everyone!

Glad you got some extra help. A few massages won't hurt either! Glad your foot has healted. It is odd that it cleared up so quickly.

I hope your lungs cleared up soon. Did he say there was anything you could do to help it along.
I haven't completely fallen off the wagon...I'm kinda of being dragged along, one hand still hanging on. I am so OP in the morning, and fall apart as the day goes on. I need to get back to what I did when I first lost weight. And your are right, you'd think it would come off as quickly as it came on! I can gain two lbs overnight, and spend two weeks trying to get rid of it!

Hi! My name is Carol and I’m your coach for this week. Thanks Dona for coaching last week. I just turned 54 today, have been married to my DH for almost 32 years and our DS is 16…a miracle after many years of hoping and prayers:angel:, and growing into a wonderful young man.

I was able to eat anything I wanted when I was growing up. I had trouble gaining weight – a friend and I even had a competition to see who could reach a certain weight first! DM was the daughter of farmers – lots of meat and potatoes and breads, home-made cookies and sweets. I never learned or needed to watch my weight or how to choose wisely. At 18 I got a desk job:surfweb:, and started gaining weight, and losing, and gaining again. At college and while teaching I was moving all the time and my weight stabilized, but then went into accounting and sat down at a desk again – and began the cycle again, including a stint with WW meetings. After our first trip to Disney in 2006 I finally dieted with a vengeance (WW online), and lost 55 lbs. I have since gained about 25 back, lost 10 since then. I have not been as successful as I would like this last challenge (work has been getting very busy, wearing me down), but determined to get back to 160 before visiting Disney again in November:yay:.
I have borrowed my questions shamelessly from the previous challenge, since I had trouble coming up with anything myself :bitelip:!

Friday QOTD: For the past two weeks, we have been watching the world’s greatest athletes compete. Have you been watching, and if you do, what is your favorite sport to watch? And do they inspire you in your journey?

I have been watching almost obsessively. When the TV went down for a few days, I was watching it online. Gymnastics is probably my favorite, followed by swimming/diving and track & field. I think it is absolutely amazing what they are able to do, and the heights they can achieve. It is inspiring as well - I can do it; I will never reach Olympian heights (esp at my age ;)), but I can be the best I can be. I have not acted on it yet, but I feel some of the old motivation coming back...when I was offered both cookies and cake today, and just took one cookie (I had too - it was my celebration). Once the olympics are over, I will probably be getting a little more sleep as well!

Healthy Habits Week 11: A "Thoughtful" Pamper Week

For some reason, I have Pooh on my mind. :confused3 There are no points to submit for Week 11.

1. Think about your weight loss/maintenance journey. What is holding you back? What goals have you achieved? Where do you want to go next? Write down your goals. It's a great motivator!

2. Finish the sentence "I am happiest when..." and do something that makes you happy.

3. Spend some time in the 100 Acre Wood...or really, experience nature. Listen to the birds chirping or feel the wind on your skin.

4. Artificial sweeteners get a good rap and a bad rap. Honey is usually considered a good sweetener. Experiment with using honey.

5. Dare I suggest this? Be lazy for a few minutes. (I'm thinking Eeyore here.)

6. Hop like Roo! No matter how much pampering you do, stick to your exercise plan. You'll be glad you did!

WHOO I lost 2 lbs this week... after joining I lost a couple of pounds then slowly gained it back and a little more and now I think I am back at the starting weight I had.. it's ok I LOST this week.. I am hoping its because of the Zumba classes I am taking twice a week (Tue & Thurs) so far i've done 4 classes and 16 more to go! :woohoo:
Hope everyone has a great weekend/week.. Michelle

Friday QOTD: For the past two weeks, we have been watching the world’s greatest athletes compete. Have you been watching, and if you do, what is your favorite sport to watch? And do they inspire you in your journey?

Thanks for coaching this week!!

I've been watching here and there when I can. I really love gymnastics and track. Since I'm a runner, watching all the sprinters is really inspiring. I love gymastics (especially the hulahoop dancing yesterday!). It looks like such a beautiful and incredibly difficult sport, I love it.

---

I'm down .6 this week!! :woohoo: That's a big deal considering I've continuously gained. I'm ready to kick butt!

QOTD: We love DL at Christmastime! We've celebrated there twice now. Thx for coaching!

Welcome new coach & happy birthday yesterday!
QOTD: As for the olympics, I watch all events as I can, but I'm not religious about it except I LOVE US women's soccer & they were awesome! Glad they got the gold!

!

I've been watching a bit of the Olympics, namely the mens swimming and womens gymnastics. They really should be more inspiring...but I've been lazy the last couple days! I do have a 5k coming up and I'm thinking that will whip me into gear. I just hope I can beat my time from February- the only thing that has me worried about it is the heat!

I live and breathe the Olympics when they are on (both summer and winter)
Probably why I don't "look" like an athlete...cuz I spend to much time on the couch watching them! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Did gymnastics years ago so love that and did springboard diving one year in college (had a crush on one of the male diver ;) ) so like watching that as well. LOVE volleyball so beach volleyball is one of my all time fav's

Things have been status quo for me...still having more off days then on but at least the weight is not climbing....
struggeled with the meals because of the kids :( have been doing research and they suggest things like bagels and peanut butter, spaghetti and meat sauce, so not on my diet plan!!! Oh well, will have to figure something out.

Still having a very unmotivated work day :( really would just like to go shopping!! Not for anything in particular...just shop....of course my DH is in a panic when I get into those moods!!!

Carol- Thanks! I know, it's very strange how it kind of popped back into feeling good!

Work was ok today. I have two people tomorrow and then I'm off until Tuesday when I have 3 in the morning and 2 at night. Excited about the new therapist starting tomorrow. It will make my life easier!

I think we're going out to dinner tonight. Well, at least that's my plan! LOL!

It's so humid here! We had a 20 minute downpour earlier.

Think I'll go change and find something to drink!

Happy Birthday Carol

QOTD: I really haven't watched a lot of the Olympics this time around. They're fun, but not something I really get into anymore. Sports just isn't that inspiring for me for some reason.

About the video: Its called 10 Minute Solution: Pilates on the Ball and its programmable as far as choosing segments, Upper body, Lower body, Abs, Total body and Flexibility. You mix and match exercises from within each segment, so its a really basic programming type thing. Each segment is 10 minutes long and for now I am going to have to stick with 2 segments. I am only good enough to do 1 target segment and then the flexibility. For the arms today I tried an experiment that failed. I started with my old video 10 Minute Solution on the Ball Upper Body routine, and tried combining it with the Pilates Upper Body and the Flexibility. I and not strong enough to do all 3 in 1 workout. So will have to work out a schedule for getting the weights in as I think that will help me with the Pilates because the Pilates uses my body as the resistance for the arms. Don't know how long it will be before I can do them together, but it will be awhile.

Its a work weekend at target for me so no more video workouts until Monday. I am going to try and get them in 4-5 times per week. And maybe after next week I'll add in the Lower body routine. We'll see how it goes.

I'll have to do a few of these, especially 3. I like that kind of thing. We're going to Mt. Vernon this weekend, maybe I can find some quiet time in his garden. Not sure what crowds are like there.

WHOO I lost 2 lbs this week... after joining I lost a couple of pounds then slowly gained it back and a little more and now I think I am back at the starting weight I had.. it's ok I LOST this week.. Yes! for two pounds...I'm in the same boat, except I'm still going up again. I've been bouncing around this whole challenge!

Thanks for coaching this week!!

Yeh on being down! I do enjoy rhythmic gymnastics (had to look up the spelling on that - had a weird mental block) but saw team rhythmic gymnastics and thought it was just strange. But I do like it on their own...I like the ribbon the best, not sure when they will show that.

Welcome new coach & happy birthday yesterday!
QOTD: As for the olympics, I watch all events as I can, but I'm not religious about it except I LOVE US women's soccer & they were awesome! Glad they got the gold!

Thanks! I'm not a soccer gal, but I did check up on it while they were showing. US is leading the medal count I believe.

I'm inspired but still not moving. But getting ideas on what I want to start doing for movement once DS goes back to school and starts running every night. Gotta start staying OP better as well, but work is stressing me out.

I live and breathe the Olympics when they are on (both summer and winter)

I am like you, both Olympics I am catching all my favorite events, as much as I can. But my couch time is counting against me!
Awesome that you did gymnastics and diving - that is so cool! I dislocated my kneecap back in high school and then messed up the ankle on my other leg (fell down the stairs while using crutches).
Good that the weight is at least steady...better than going up!
Maybe when they have bagels you take half - or even slice it one extra slice. I use reduced fat peanut butter, and only 1/2 serving - 1 T goes a long way! We have spaghetti pretty regularly. It is a 10 point meal for me for 2 1-cup servings, sometimes I only eat half. Pretzels are high in carbs, and some types are diet-friendly. But it is hard to come up with those! Maybe different meals - that seems to be the case for us fairly often. I'll have a big salad and just a taste of the meatloaf if I am short on points.

Carol- Thanks! I know, it's very strange how it kind of popped back into feeling good!

I looked them up on line, they were put out by Special K if those are the right ones. Amazon had them for $9 each, I might look at them and order a couple. They look pretty good, and I can fit in 10 minutes here and there!
I've been eyeing my old video, 20 Minute Workout. I guess men really like it too :lmao:, but it was a quick decent workout. Cut out the jumping they do, another quick workout.

QOTD:
My favorites have always been gymnastics, track and field and diving in the summer Olympics and figure skating in the winter Olympics.

I love all of those! And with all the others, hard finding time to fit them all in. Especially the equestrian...that takes a looonnng time. Especially since I was watching online, and they show everyone, not just the highlights.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Glad the weekend is here. I need it! My boss is back on Monday - he is a really decent boss, but I tend to get a lot more done when he is gone! But now I just saw DS running schedule, and I need to leave early 2-3 times a week to get him to where he needs to be for running. He won't be happy, concerned about how it looks to others, but I need to get him to practice...DH is going to cover the morning schedule if he runs in the morning, and it is easier for me to cover the afternoon since DH is 1 1/2 hours away. Told DS he needs to studying for his driving test, and we'll get him a nice used car so he can get where he needs to go!

Not OP again today - Chinese for free lunch Friday, I had trouble scaling back. I really have got to get myself back in line, just having a lot of trouble:sad2:.

Happy Birthday Carol!!!!!!

QOTD: We have watched as much of the Olympics as possible! We love both types of volleyball and gymnastics and loved the women's soccer this season! I love the Closing Ceremonies too! In the winter we like hockey, and figure skating! Oh yeah, I almost forgot gymnastics! Oh, we just like it all!!!!!

Finally heard back about Ashleigh's insulin retest. It was high again. The doctor said to focus on healthy eating and exercise. It could be related to some lines on her neck around the mole she had removed! He said to watch her water intake and we both spoke to her as well. Going to have her eating as much fruit as we can. Also going to look into some lower sugar yogurt as she really likes that. We need to get her training for soccer that will be starting in a few weeks. I told her I want her to start by doing the elliptical every day and maybe she and I will walk the mornings that I don't work.

My parents made it home. Dad was very confused tonight and Mom was worried about him. I think it's because he spent two long days in the car and is tired. They got a handicapped accessible room last night at the hotel with a walk in shower so Dad was able to get a nice shower this morning.

Went out to supper tonight. Came home and watched the rest of Project Runway and played a game and now we're watching the Olympics. The girls just went to bed.

Going to work for a little bit tomorrow to show the new therapist the ropes for the day. She's going to set up her room next week. She'll use mine tomorrow! I need a break from giving massages tomorrow as my thumbs were aching. I did 4 in a row today!

Gotta go out to the store after stopping at work and try and find a few more small window fans. It's been super hot and humid again! Had a lot of rain as well!

Thanks for listening and have a great Friday night!

PS QOTD: I think my favorite villain is Maleficent! I think that's from reading the Kingdom Keepers books. It just brought her more personality to me and I tend to be fascinated by her evilness!

Happy Birthday Carol! :cool1:

I really like watching all the olympics ... however, I can't stay up! I usually fall asleep before I can see what I want! I have really liked synchronized swimming lately. They are amazing.

As for me ... I am not very athletic. I enjoy running and have just started it 7 months ago. I have to watch when I run ... I can trip over shadows on the sidewalk! :lmao:

I was talking about somehow getting motivation and what gets me going in my last post.

Saturday QOTD: What motivates you more to stay OP and work harder: seeing pictures of yourself when you were heavier, or seeing a picture of someone closer to your goal weight?

I use both, but more often when I am fighting my way out of the cookie zone, it is a picture of what I can be, what I can achieve and how healthy and lean I can look. I am already more than halfway there, and even after reaching that about two years ago, I still do a double take when I see myself sometimes, because I can remember where I used to be.

The pictures are in my head, so they are always there. I remember how I used to look, and what I looked like when I was slimmer. Thinking about what I am trying to achieve usually helps unless I am feeling very weak or stressed.

Happy Birthday Carol!!!!!!

TTFN :tigger:

Thanks!
You sound like me! Watch everything! I think that is what is killing me right now! Heard that between online and TV, over 5,000 hours of Olympics. I DVR during the day as well, then just FF is I am not interested.
Hope she starts doing better. So hard to get them to eat healthy. I am gone all day, not sure if DS is just saying what he knows I want to hear! Hope your dad starts feeling better too.
I can imagine that your hands hurt. I have a niece who also does the same thing, and after a busy day, she does mention pain sometimes.

:lmao:

Thanks!
I have trouble staying up too - which is why I use the DVR. At least I can get rid of the commercials!

I have a tendancy to trip over my own feet sometimes when I exercise. My balance is also not what is used to be, which is probably just age catching up with me:headache:.

Well, give my mom a call and watch a little more Olympics. Be back tommorrow. Have a good evening all!

Carol
