Question of the Day
Do you use a lot of Disney in your holiday decorations?
I don't decorate for Halloween ... just some fall decorations. I do have my Christmas decoration but not a lot of Disney decorations. The only Disney decorations I have are the ornaments from our Disney trips. Every time we go on vacation, I buy a Christmas ornament that has a Santa Claus on it (my tree is all Santas).
Sorry that I have been MIA, I have been reading though. I have had a lot of stress in the last week and a half and am eating everything I can get my hands on. I just do not feel motivated to work on losing right now as it feels like one more thing that I do not have control over. I know that if I exercise I feel better so that is something that I am trying to do. Sorry for the vent.
I am so sorry. I am having a really hard time getting into a weight-loss mode this time too. I have been able to maintain, but not lose. I am giving myself a little break since work and home is always so hectic at this time. Things are finally calming down so I might be able to focus again.
Hoping you can remotivate yourself .... and step away from the food!
WARNING: RANT-I had an absolutely terrible day at work today. In fact, during our teacher lunch meeting, I almost walked out. There's a lot of mismanagement in our small company & I'm so sick of being dumped on while others don't do their jobs. I teach 6 different History classes a day plus do 1/2 of the special Ed work (tons of documentation & paperwork). I'm just getting burnt out. It probably doesn't help that I work in an alternative Ed program for kids with behavior problems, huh? But, I ate 6 Hershey kisses, came home & went to the gym for an hour. I feel much better now, but am dreading tomorrow since I have an iep I need to work on. Sorry to ramble, but I just had to get this frustration off my chest! I am looking for a new job ASAP. That's stressful also!
Jill
Hey Jill, I am so sorry. I used to work in a building where I would get dumped on too. (It gets old really fast!) I am now very lucky to work in a building with some great co-workers and an awesome principal. However, at the beginning of this school year, some of my co-workers that I used to work with starting causing some issues that were about to affect us. Our principal stepped in and stopped it. My only concern is that I am pretty sure my principal is going to retire next year and I am very worried about who will fill her shoes. I have had 8 principals over my working career and I have had some REALLY bad ones. I really hope your job turns around. (Insert a hug smilie here!)
Friday's Question of the Day: What old and new shows are you looking forward to this season?
TTFN
I don't get to watch too much tv but when I do, I love The Middle, Modern Family, 30 Rock and Grimm. I am interested in 666 Park Ave. and The Revolution (has this already started?).
My sons are watching reruns of Lost on Netfix. I really loved that show. I wish there was another show Lost ....
Good Morning all!!
I have to laugh because I read the QOD and thought it said "what old or new SHOES are you looking forward to" and I thought there are these really cute pair of boots that I want to go get tonight after work

My youngest controls the TV so outside of an occasional football game that I get to watch it is Thomas movies and Winnie the Pooh movies!!
things have been hectic with the promotion to manager (did I mention that?) Can't seem to get a handle on it yet but it truly is only week 1 so....
Football games tonight but I have to say my oldest DS is going to be the death of me....he had me wash his home game jersey the other night so that a SENIOR GIRL could wear it!!! He is a freshman.....AAAUUUGGGHHH!!!! They "hung out" at our towns Octoberfest last night and she brought him home, PLUS we have a new interest in volleyball...yep you guessed it!!! She is a varsity v-ball player and she brought him home after the game the other night

She is 18 I believe already and he will by 15 in a month...if they were out of school it would not be a big deal but at this age.....
I told my DH he better have a lengthy "chat" with him.....
Well I have a day full of "manager" type meetings as my boss is OOT so I am filling in for him at a few...
Hope everyones week went well....I do get on and Lurk when I have a few mintues but just have not had time to really catch up....hopefully soon!!!!!
Congrats on your promotion! That is awesome.
And hoping your son's situation works the way you want it to. My oldest son hung around a lot of older students when he was a freshman (girls included). He just really seemed to bond with them. He went to proms and homecoming with a few of them ... but never dated them. He is still good friends with a lot of them and I have to say they helped him with his transition to college.
I don't really get to watch t.v I would like to say something motivational here like, such as I am super busy or we don't watch t.v we rather read, but sadly my ds 19 months has it on sprout all day, he doesn't watch it all day but it stays on less headache for me lol. But I love my dvr. My shows are true blood, scandal and the Simpsons( I have been watching it my whole life) true blood is sadly finished the other two just started I totally recommend scandal ABC, they actually hit a home run with this show.
This has been a great week so far, but I learned my lesson after having to wet a whole package of Halloween Oreos lol. My mom brought them over for my son and I wanted something sweet of course instead of a piece of fruit I ate like five Oreos and I couldn't stop so I threw them in the sink and turned on the water. I have done tis a couple times. I am seriously added to sweets and I know I just can't have one so I make them unappetizing , and then throw them out. So no more buying sweets and junk food plus my sons don't need to start on a bad habit.
Good for you! Oreos are a weakness of mine. I throw a lot of things out that my Mom brings to my house ... but I never thought of putting water on it first. I actually think that would feel rewarding.
My husband's birthday is this Thursday. My mom today called and said, "Don't make a cake. I have one for my DS's birthday." .... now some back history on this is that my mom sees a cake reduced at our local grocery store's bakery and buys it then freezes it for some later date. Now, the cakes aren't that great when the are fresh ... let alone when they have been frozen! I told my mom that my DS does not want this kind of cake for his birthday ... but my mom has insisted that he will love it.
Now ... I get home and tell my DS this story and he just shakes his head (because he doesn't want this cake). I told him that she won't listen to me and that he has to man-up and tell her tomorrow that he doesn't want it. And the wimp says, " We will just have her cake." I kept telling him he is a chicken to tell her and he kept laughing saying I won't be her favorite if I tell her! I told him, I don't want any complaining and he better eat his piece of this cake!
(I think I will be pouring water over the rest of the cake once my Mom leaves.)
I'm only down .2 this week. Finances have been tight and I'm anticipating pay day. I need to sit down this weekend and make out a meal plan and grocery list. I haven't ever done a lot of "grocery" shopping at Family Dollar before but I think I'm going to start. No, obviously I can't get like produce or things like that but items such as toiletries, cans of soup, etc. I'm trying to cut costs and still trying to figure out how to go about it. I also want to check out the local farmers market for our produce. I just need to remember to actually do it.
I'm open to any suggestion on how to cut a grocery bill
Its raining here today so I think I'll get n my Wii for some cardio. I was going to do it last night but then upon turning the system on I realized the batteries were dead in both the remote AND the board, OYE!
I really try to buy meat in bulk and freeze meal sized packets. I only buy "junk food" if I have a coupon for it. And I really try to plan out my meals. I know what I will be making the day before and have a rough plan for the week.
Also, really look through your pantry, frig and freezer and see what you have there that you can cook. I go through periods where I try to eat by using what I have already bought. You would be surprised at what you can come up with.
I would also ask Pam for help with this. She is a real cooking pro!
Hope this helps.
Saturday QOTD: Are there any foods that you would never eat or try before you set out on this journey to healthier eating? What have you found that you really love now?
TTFN
I have grown to love salmon and broccoli. And the great part is both of them are so low-cal that I can as much as I want.

My family has also grown to love a few more healthier things too. (An added bonus!)
