Question of the Day

Some people feel meditation will change your life for good.

Have you ever tried meditation? If you did do you think it helped you?

I use the breathing to help me get to sleep when my brain is running at full speed.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Okay when I first read this I thought you asked about "mediCation" and my first thought was Prozac or maragiritas. :rotfl2:

After reading it a second time I realized we were not on the same wavelenght this morning. :duck:

I have tried meDitation in the past but could never quite figure out what I was supposed to be doing. In june I started hypnosis and now have a light and sound machine that I use that helps me get into that quite and centered phase. So far it has made a big difference in getting me to chill and relax.

:offtopic: On another note I did see my doctor yesterday and got different medications for my asthma, 2 different inhalers, so we will see if this helps. She did say she has seen alot of her asthmatic patients having problems with all the smoke from the wildfires. Hoping these new meds will be just for the fall season and then back to my regular ones for winter.

Breathing better today so I am going to go out for a walk, leave the running until next week, and see how I do. The sun just broke through and it is a nice brisk 60 degrees so I will see you guys on the other side of my walk.[/QUOTE]

The statement about medication is funny since when I was typing it this morning I wrote medication three times and had to go back and correct it three times.

oh, I'm so sorry for your DD! I hope she'll be able to find another team to compete with this year and have lots of fun with them. :hug: I'll be praying for you and your whole family with all these trials and burdens. :hug:

pjilla, I'm so sorry about your daughter's situation. That's so disappointing. Hopefully she can find a new team that is a good fit for her :(

Oh No Hugs to you and your DD

Thanks all for your kind words. I really appreciate the support right now.

Okay when I first read this I thought you asked about "mediCation" and my first thought was Prozac or maragiritas. :rotfl2:

Now THAT is the kind of "meditation" that I could get on board with!! :drinking1

Glad you were able to get some relief!

Years ago I took a tai chi class (fantastic!!!) and meditation was part of it. I discovered I have "monkey mind." That means I never settled down, but I certainly got a lot of lists made while I was "meditating." :rotfl2:

That is so totally my mind too!!

Pamela, sorry about DD's swim club. But she's a strong/smart girl, I know she'll find a good fit for her senior year.

Thanks for that.... so needed right now.

As part of my sub job I ride the bus to/from school with my kiddo. Today another kiddo on the bus screamed/cried :furious: for 45 minutes! It was a lot of fun. :eek: I was never so happy to get off a bus in my life! I had texted the rest of the staff and they were very sweet when I got off the bus. Just let me go off on my own for a bit to regroup/stop the ringing in my ears! :goodvibes Now I really want a fistful of chocolate covered almonds, but I am being good and sipping the chocolate milk I just made.

Good job avoiding the stress eating. Have you tried chocolate almond milk.... a few less calories than regular dairy milk and really chocolatey!

The statement about medication is funny since when I was typing it this morning I wrote medication three times and had to go back and correct it three times.

Well.... considering the crazy early hour that you posted the QOTD, I'm not surprised!!

I could DEFINITELY use the breathing to sleep idea right now. But to answer the QOTD, no, I've never really tried meditation, other than the yoga class I took a few years ago. When I try to get that still and quiet, my mind RACES along!

If I am suffering from a really bad headache or migraine, I resort back to a sort of Lamaze breathing to settle my mind and help me relax and hopefully get to sleep. I suppose that could be considered a type of meditation.

Evening all! Ended up away from home all day today. After Bible study I ran to Macy's to look for a homecoming dress for DD. Didn't care much for the selection (on the clearance rack) at the nearest Macy's so I ran a few more miles to the mall to check out that Macy's. Ended up coming home with about 5 or 6 dresses (one for me...;)) but nothing that DD liked. I will return them later this week and take another look. She could wear last year's dress, but with all she has been going through I thought that new dress might make her feel a bit better. I do have a few that she could borrow if I can't find anything.

The emails concerning the whole swim team situations are flying around between the parents. Unfortunately, the team that I contacted this morning said that they have no more space for Senior swimmers! That really puts us in a bind. We are hoping that the coach will take a look at DD's times and find space for her. At the age of 17 with 8+ years of swim experience, she isn't ready to be dropped down to a Junior practice group.

DH was supposed to be away tonight, so I didn't plan anything special for dinner. Well, they got done with the meeting sooner than expected and he will be home in a little while. I guess he gets yogurt and sardines! :thumbsup2

Hoping to get some scrapping time in tomorrow, as the weather won't be suitable for painting or outdoor work. I love this sunny weather, but I could use a break from all of the house chores!

My Bible study group was interesting this morning. If you don't remember, we are reading a book called "Made to Crave" about overeating, etc. So many people with so many questions about HOW to eat healthy, WHAT to eat, HOW to stop the cravings. It is a shame we only have about 45 minutes once a week! I'm thinking of suggesting that we start an online group (kind of like this one) to help and support each other. We already have a prayer chain, so this could just be one more part of that.

Well..I let DS have a frozen pizza for dinner (since I hadn't planned anything), but I made him eat a big serving of broccoli first. And I had my huge bowl of broccoli.... but now I'm not sure what else to have. I was going to have brown rice and beans, but I hate opening a can of beans just for me and I didn't think ahead to soak/cook any. This may end up being one of those nights when I open an emergency can of soup that I keep on hand! I'm just mentally exhausted from all of the swim drama and the thought of cooking right now isn't very appealing. Maybe even just an apple and peanut butter and a cup of tea.

Time to dash. TTY tomorrow!......................P

Something for motivation

Thank you for the motivation! These are great.

Good Monday morning.

I have a long day today. I leave here about 6:15 and won't get home until 5:30. We have our first math team meet today.

Question of the Day

Some one just asked this yesterday and it is a good question for everyone.

20 years ago the average length of sleep was 7 1/2 hours. The average is now down to 6 1/2.

How much do you sleep? What time do you go to bed?

Have a happy and healthy day.

I go to sleep around 11:00 and get up at 6:00ish (depending on how many times I push the snooze button ;)) So, that is about 7 hours. However, like many people, I don't get a "good" night's sleep. I am such a light sleeper and wake at the sound of anything ..... and with this in mind, we have a guest (critter) living in our chimney. He is "stuck" in the part that goes through our bedroom .... sigh. We have called some experts and they have said to give it a few days for the animal to die :crazy2: ! They will then come and clean out the chimney. So, I haven't been sleeping too well lately.

Hi, everyone! I just got back in from my run/walk (a little more running every time). I know there are a few other Sherlock/Doctor Who fans on this board, so I thought I'd share my immensely silly (but so far successful) motivation strategy for working out.

It started when a friend sent me one of those someecards as a joke when I told him I was trying to get fit again. It said, "I work out because I know I would've been the first to die in the Hunger Games."

Once I stopped laughing, I realized I could probably come up with a bunch of examples from other things I like. Basically they're all along the lines of, "You just never know when you'll need to:

- chase down a cab containing a serial killer (Sherlock)
- bet your friend that you can spontaneously run the New York City marathon tomorrow (How I Met Your Mother) :lmao:

or outrun:
- the zombie apocalypse (The Walking Dead)
- evil plastic mannequins brought to life, the Silence, the Weeping Angels (Doctor Who)
- Death Eaters (Harry Potter)
- Reavers (Firefly)

Like I said, it's unbelievably goofy. But it's consistently been getting me through one more interval of running than I managed on my previous workout day, so what do I care? :thumbsup2

I usually aim for around 7 hours, going to bed at 1 am and getting up at 8. It's hard to go to bed earlier, because I don't get home from classes until nearly 9 pm and the late evenings are the only time I have with my OH (and even then, I'm still usually doing homework).

Thanks for sharing these. I was reading them to my DS12 and he was cracking up!

HEY I JUST REALIZED I'M A DIS VETERAN!!:lmao::lmao:

Congrats!!! I didn't realize I am one too. LOL. I keep waiting for the tag fairy, but I don't think she likes me. :)

Good Tuesday morning everyone.

Just when I thought school couldn't get any worse it did. My computer started to give me some trouble and woulden't print out some papers that I needed for the math meet after school. Then the bus came and when we got on I asked where was the other high school we drive with. I was told we had to go pick them up.:confused3 This meant we had to go east to pick them up and then drive west past my school to get to the meet. Now the meet couldn't start without us since we bring the questions and the answer sheets. It worked out but I was on that bus for a very long time yesterday.

Hugs to you (I can't find the hug smilie!) I really hope your school year gets better.
I have only tried meditation in the few yoga classes I have taken. I do love it and feel so peaceful after it is done.

Good morning friends! Just taking a moment to say hello on my way to bible study.

Well... The poo hit the fan at last night's swim meeting and without going into great detail I will just tell you that our Y has told us that they no longer can offer a competitive swim program for the senior swimmers at this time. :(. This leaves DD with no choice but to look for another team for her senior year. The whole situation is heartbreaking, to say the least. I'm devasted for DD. we never imagined that they would essentially hand her her walking papers. I believe she was committed to remaining a TigerShark come he** or high water, but the Y has left her with no choice.

Thanks for letting me vent a bit here. I've shed more tears over this than I care to admit. Yesterday was definitely a black day here...my Dad started radiation, DD's mouse died, and her dreams of graduating as a TigerShark were smashed. We decided that for her picture of the day for yesterday it will be a photo of an atom bomb in full explosion, mushroom cloud and all.

Trying hard to keep it all in perspective for she and I....we are safe and healthy, as our our loved ones. We have a roof over our heads and food on our table. We have each other and she can continue to swim, albeit for another team. It is just a bitter pill to swallow for now.

Off to bible study....I really need the prayer time today especially! I'll be back later to chat and answer the QOTD.............P

Pam, I am so sorry to hear about your daughter and her swim team .... and in her senior year! As hard as it is to hear it, perhaps there is a reason behind it. Maybe she will have a better experience on another team.

And .... you have my prayers for your dad. I hope your week get better.

Keep up the good work everyone:)

SO glad you are able to keep up a bit! Thanks for the hug.... I'll share it with DD. We really need it this week.

********************

Well... aren't we a QUIET group??!! This is CRAZY quiet for the first few weeks of a challenge! Where is everyone?

I'll chatter here for a bit in the hopes that someone else comes along to talk with me! :rotfl:

Raining a bit this morning... not hard enough to avoid gardening chores though. :crazy2: And it is warmer than it has been for a few days... I am just NOT in a mood to do some planting and weeding and get all muddy! I'll give it an hour.... if it is clear enough, I'll go do some gardening. If it is raining harder, then I give myself a day at my scrapping table! :thumbsup2

I didn't make a menu plan for this week, as DH's schedule was a bit up in the air. Seems like he will be home tonight, so I'm glad I defrosted some chicken. I will throw it in the crockpot after I have breakfast for my quick and easy crockpot chicken cacciatore. I know I have the ingredients on hand for that. DS will have to have fish sticks or tuna tonight (as he is allergic to chicken). The extra chicken (it is a big pack) will be cooked and diced for curried chicken next week. We haven't had that in a while and we really like it.

Lunch today is the 13 bean soup that I didn't start on time for last night's dinner. It has to simmer for something crazy like 3-4 hours, and I didn't get home yesterday until almost 4pm. I guess I could have thrown it together quickly and eaten about 8pm.... but I wasn't in the mood. It should make a BIG pot of soup and since DH can't eat it (too many carbs) I will have plenty to freeze in individual portions for another day.

The grocery situation is getting a bit dire around here, but I am refusing to shop for now. Our grocery bill is just CRAZY and I want to have at least ONE MONTH this fall when we aren't insanely over our budget! I will have to buy milk and eggs some time very soon. But we need to find a way to make do for now! Breakfast for the kids today was toast and peanut butter. They complained a bit, but managed. Tomorrow will be steel cut oats for DD and yogurt for DS.... probably the same on Friday, as I am working that day.

Saturday a.m. DD has her last practice with the TigerSharks :sad: and then we will head down to Rhode Island to visit colleges....... URI on Saturday with an overnight (hopefully) at DMIL's and then Open House at Roger Williams University on Sunday. That is the school that she is really excited about, so I hope it goes well. She has already been in contact with the swim coach and is anxious to talk with him in person.

I need to have DH tell DMIL that we will only visit if she let's us bring some food and take care of ourselves! She will be 90 years old in about a week and I am NOT letting my 90 y/o MIL take care of me and my kids! Plus she doesn't understand the way that we eat and it is so hard to say no to all of her homemade goodies!! She is a GREAT cook and a SUPERB baker! The kids can enjoy it if she makes it. We will probably only be there for breakfast on Sunday anyhow, so it won't be a big deal. I'll bring a dozen organic eggs and maybe some diced veggie and lowfat cheese. I'll make omelets for all of us and if she wants to make her special blueberry muffins, the kids can have them with the eggs.

I will plan on packing up lunch and snacks for both days in a cooler. We will "splurge" (financially) on a dinner out at Bugaboo Creek on Saturday night. I've been hoarding a gift card for that restaurant that I got a few years ago and that should pay for about 2/3 of the bill. It is a good compromise restaurant, as DH can get a nice steak and I can hopefully get a nice salad (have only been to a BC once, several years ago.... I'll have to take a peek online at their menu) and of course the kids can always find something yummy. The only meal up in the air at the moment will be dinner on Sunday. We will probably end up stopping on our way home from RWU.... probably something quick and easy like Subway. I"ll look around today for some coupons.

Anyone else surprised at who went home on DWTS? I knew **** would be the first gone.... just had a feeling. (Not saying the name so as not to be a spoiler, in case someone hasn't seen it yet.)

BTW... FUN QUESTION.... especially for you newbies!! What special little "connection" do I have with the person who was voted out from DWTS last night??

Okay.... dashing off for breakfast and to check on more swim team related emails.... the news keeps coming in and getting more and more depressing.............P

Good Wednesday morning everyone. It is the Jewish holyday and I have the day off. I am planning on making a tablerunner for a friend who is moving to Arizona. It will have lighthouses on one side and a beach scene on the flip side. While I am doing that I will also make a halloween one for my dinning room table. It is an easy pattern. It takes longer to cut the fabric than to do the sewing.

II had a great great QOTD but I thought of it before I went to sleep last night and of course I can't remember it this morning.

Pam I am sorry for all your daughter's drama about swimming. It is so difficult to leave something that is such a big part of her life for so long. Then throw in the all the college stuff it is very stressful. Good luck with the visits this week. My gf's daughter goes to URI and is spending this semester in the Bahama's for her marine biology program. Must be nice.

Question of the Day

If you had three wishes, one for you and the other two for anyone else you want what would they be?

Have a happy and healthy day

You are such a great friend! I know my Mom enjoys quilting and I'd love to have a new table runner, but I'm afraid I'd get something I didn't love and would feel compelled to use it out of guilt! Maybe I could find a pattern and fabric and ask her to do the work.

HEY! I'm going to PM you my personal email address. Could you please pass it on to the girl at URI? Maybe she would give us a current student's perspective on the school and the MB program? I have a nephew who graduated from there a few years ago, but not the MB program.

Question of the Day

For myself.... continued good health. For DD I would love to wish for the full restoration of her swim team.... but a more practical wish would be for a full college scholarship.... and the same for DS.

If given a second choice for less PRACTICAL wishes, I would definitely wish for DVC membership, infinite annual Disney passes, and the funds and time to travel!

*********************

Okay friends! Seems like most of you are sleeping in today! The weather hasn't changed much since an hour ago, but it is wet out. Staying inside today. Will be decluttering DD's "desk" (I use the term loosely, as it is really just a school supply and book HEAP!). Then off to the scrap table!

TTYL...........................P

Three wishes:

For myself: good health and peace

For my daughter: a productive life surrounded by people who love her. She's special needs and having a tough time these days

For my husband: to know how incredibly special he is

I'm off tomorrow for the TOT weekend. We're just doing the 5K but it'll be neat because it's our first Disney race experience (and my daughter and husband's first races ever) and our first big Expo. We're celebrating my 108 pounds gone by staying over at Portofino at Universal (we have passes there). No Disney passes right now because we're doing the new PAP Disney deal for DVC members but it starts after we leave. So we'll miss Food and Wine but plan on spending some time at the Boardwalk and have Boma breakfast reservations for after the race. AKL is our favorite DVC resort so it'll be nice to be "home" for a few minutes.

This weekend has been a big motivator for me the last few months so I'm really looking forward to it. I'm going to try to do okay eating - wise. I spent the morning making some WW friendly breakfast items as well as some good low point foods for the long car ride tomorrow (we live in Florida but nowhere near Orlando).

Good Luck at the race!

Hope your having a good scrappping day!

Have a WONDERFUL weekend and a SUPER SPECIAL and enjoyable race! Be sure to take pictures and share them when you get back!

Hope your having a good scrappping day!

Haven't made it there yet! It literally took me 2 hours to clean up DD's desk area! Most of it was papers, notebooks, etc from last school year. It is cleaned and organized and the papers are packed up neatly to be saved. She is a bit of a "saver" with her school papers.... I can't wait til she is an adult in her first home and I back up the U-Haul in her driveway and unload 12+ years worth of "saved" papers and notebooks for HER to store! :rotfl2:

Lunch is done and delicious, dinner is in the crockpot, and of course, the washer is chugging along. Weather appears to be trying to clear, but mostly still big dark clouds, so I will stay in. Off to scrap NOW!!!..............P

So sorry to hear of all this turmoil. I hope it gets straightened out for DD soon.

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 2? [/I]

Sounds like a fun weekend and maybe it will keep DDs mind of the swimming fiasco. Fun question answer~names? Trying not to spoil for anyone.

Question of the Day

If you had three wishes, one for you and the other two for anyone else you want what would they be?

Have a happy and healthy day

Myself~a long healthy, happy, stress free, financially sound life...ok, that's like 4 wishes :rotfl:
My kids~a great college education with no debt
DH~finishing school, passing his boards, and getting an awesome job

Yay! Have a great time and enjoy yourself! Tell all my friends (characters) that Jill from PA says hi and misses them :wave2:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have to run already. I was without internet at work all day and it just came back on. But, now it's time for me to get ready to go. I don't think I'll be back on today. I have a meeting from 6-7 and I'm going to try to squeeze in a workout before. DS6 also has gymnastics, so it's going to be hectic. Oh, and did I mention that I just found out I have ANOTHER IEP due next week? This will make IEP number 4 and we've only been in school 24 days! Ugh. When is Christmas break?!? :)
Jill
Might not be this week, though - it's crazy around here! DH and I fly to Orlando early Friday morning - without the kids! - for a Food & Wine, hotel review, ToT 10-Miler weekend. I can't wait. I have one short training run left between now and the race on Saturday night. This will be my first 10-mile race, my first Disney race, and only my second race ever. I have the butterflies, but I'm also feeling really ready!
Hope everyone has a great week!
XO
Liz
You will be awesome! Have fun this weekend!
Well, if my DH is home then I try to get to bed by around 9:30 or so and get up at 5:30...if he is not then it is more like 11 when I get to settle in. I don't sleep well however...I usually sleep a couple hours then am up for a couple hours tossing and mind racing trying to figure out how many more hours I have to sleep :rotfl:
I wish I slept more peacefully but have never been able to get my mind to quiet down...
I have the same problem. Once my mind starts that's it. I've tried praying, reading, stretching and mentally trying too relax my body too. Maybe meditation is next. Has anyone found this to help?
If you have run of the mill racing, try deep breaths and focus on relaxing one body part at a time. I don't often do this myself. I do much better with directed meditation, like in a yoga class. There are CDs you can buy of people telling you visualizations, relaxing thoughts. I actually do this for my DD when she is having a rough time.
If the racing is incessant and hard to calm, I find TV is about the only way to fall asleep.
The other thing with sleep is that if I have a few nights of bad sleep, sometimes I get into a rut, where I can't get a good nights sleep. In that case, I will take some Benadryl (that really knocks me out!!) or melatonin. I'll do that just one or two nights in a row and usually I can get back on a better sleep rhythm.
MAKE SURE YOU SENT ME YOUR WEIGH-INS, GUYS!!!
I also wanted to say thank you to everyone--going through everyone's PMs, I'm so in awe that so many of us around the world are represented and working on this one day at a time, one week at a time, one weigh-in at a time, and it's so overwhelming and moving to me to get to represent all of our efforts with those stats!!! (I know, it takes a special kind of person to get emotional about statistics.) But really, I love to see that little retention percentage show how many of us are sticking with it and connecting with each other and taking up the challenge of living healthfully with us each day in our daily lives, at home with our families but also here on the DIS. :)
So check your inbox, you thirteen of you, and see if I sent you a reminder! I'd love to hear from you, even if it's just to say "good Lord I don't want to get on a scale this week." I'm going to give everyone another day to get to me and I'll post tomorrow evening instead.
Y'all thirteen of you send me a PM, ok???
Happy Tuesday, everyone!
Samantha
Love this post!! :) "emotional about statistics" :lovestruc
Thanks for your amazing organization with PMs, stats, everything!
Good morning friends! Just taking a moment to say hello on my way to bible study.
Well... The poo hit the fan at last night's swim meeting and without going into great detail I will just tell you that our Y has told us that they no longer can offer a competitive swim program for the senior swimmers at this time. :(. This leaves DD with no choice but to look for another team for her senior year. The whole situation is heartbreaking, to say the least. I'm devasted for DD. we never imagined that they would essentially hand her her walking papers. I believe she was committed to remaining a TigerShark come he** or high water, but the Y has left her with no choice.
Thanks for letting me vent a bit here. I've shed more tears over this than I care to admit. Yesterday was definitely a black day here...my Dad started radiation, DD's mouse died, and her dreams of graduating as a TigerShark were smashed. We decided that for her picture of the day for yesterday it will be a photo of an atom bomb in full explosion, mushroom cloud and all.
Trying hard to keep it all in perspective for she and I....we are safe and healthy, as our our loved ones. We have a roof over our heads and food on our table. We have each other and she can continue to swim, albeit for another team. It is just a bitter pill to swallow for now.
Off to bible study....I really need the prayer time today especially! I'll be back later to chat and answer the QOTD.............P
Gah! Swim is beyond a mess for you guys. I'm sorry that your DD had her mind made up for her rather than getting a real choice in the matter. Hope you can find a suitable swim team for her to join!
Well... aren't we a QUIET group??!! This is CRAZY quiet for the first few weeks of a challenge! Where is everyone?
I'll chatter here for a bit in the hopes that someone else comes along to talk with me! :rotfl:
....
Okay.... dashing off for breakfast and to check on more swim team related emails.... the news keeps coming in and getting more and more depressing.............P
You don't have to talk to yourself! But I agree it's moving slower than I expected for this early in the challenge. I missed getting in here yesterday, but I'm back. Ugh, sorry there is more bad news regarding swim - keep us posted!
Question of the Day
If you had three wishes, one for you and the other two for anyone else you want what would they be?
I'm going to stick with shorter term wishes...
Me: Finish the marathon in January without injury
DH: Regain his sense of smell. This is likely impossible, and he says it doesn't bother him, but I think he'd have an easier time with healthy eating if he could taste more than strong flavors like BBQ sauce and meat!
DD: To not have anxiety. I've suffered with it in varying degrees since I was young and I can see her going down that path already. I'll settle for a normal amount of worry.
************
I'm debating what to do for my workout tonight - I'm supposed to walk/run 3 miles, but I still feel like I'm recovering from my 11 miles on Sunday. I was thinking maybe I'd do the elliptical hard core instead, but it's such a gorgeous day...now I'm thinking I will go out and try the walk/run. It will have to be either right after dinner or wait till after DD goes to bed. We'll see.
I didn't get in my yoga last night that I had planned since I was at a parent meeting for DD's school. It was not supposed to last 2.5 hours! But it was good. The school just opened this fall, so we're still figuring out if we will be a PTO or whatnot officially. We talked about the normal stuff like fundraising and volunteering. But I was so relieved to get a chance to discuss the problems that have been going on these first few weeks. There have been some serious behavior challenges in the classrooms that I honestly didn't expect. There is a much higher ratio than I imagined of students who are unfamiliar with discipline, sitting, listening, etc. The staff all has stellar experience, but I think they were unprepared for the amount of crazy. They really need assistant teachers, at the very least for Kindergarten. I wish I could go in to volunteer on a regular basis. I helped out at breakfast this morning. The district provides free breakfast (cereal, muffins, fruit, milk). But the teachers are so busy making sure no one is hitting each other, that they don't have a chance to notice that five year olds don't know how to open milk cartons. DD has made friends, is learning a lot considering the environment, and has never said she doesn't want to go to school. So while it's not dire enough to pull her out or anything, I am very anxious to help them get the assistants and volunteers in.
Okay I don't know how to do the multiple quotes like the rest of you (and apparently I'm also having trouble spelling) :scratchin so can I just say congrats to all the loosers and maintainers this week and to those that did not see what they wanted on the scale may next week be kinder. pixiedust:
Pam I'm sorry that you and your DD are not having the best start to her senior year hoping that this weekend is a great time for her.
Disneymom2one have a great time at the race this weekend, I am a wee bit envious of you being at a disney race but will just have to wait my turn in January.
Three wishes? For myself would be that I finish training and run Tinkerbell in january with a good finish and no injuries.
For DH that he finish school without problems and get promoted to the main office here in town with a pay raise (to pay for said school).
For the kids that they make it through all the bumps in life and that said bumps be minor.
Now off to finsih the laundry for work tomorrow :laundy: and then pack for a long weekend at the beach. :beach:
What a crappy thing to do to the kids. I'm so sorry for your DD and really hope an unexpected, amazing door opens for her. Please don't let this discourage her from continuing swim at university if that is her goal after high school.
Question of the Day
If you had three wishes, one for you and the other two for anyone else you want what would they be?
for my children.....personal success and happiness in life.
for my Mom and brother.....that these difficult days in their lives pass quickly and easily.
for me.....that my DH would take control of his weight/health so I can love him and have him with me for many, many, many more years to come.
this was a hard one and really made me cry.
Congrats, Robbie!! Way to go for team DinoLand!
My 3 wishes:
Me - to get my dream job at Disney sooner rather than later
My sister - to lose the weight and figure out what her trigger was as to how she gained the weight
My little niece - to find something that brings her happiness
Sounds like a fun weekend and maybe it will keep DDs mind of the swimming fiasco. Fun question answer~names? Trying not to spoil for anyone.
Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner! Yup.... I share both first and last names... but not middle.
Gah! Swim is beyond a mess for you guys. I'm sorry that your DD had her mind made up for her rather than getting a real choice in the matter. Hope you can find a suitable swim team for her to join!
She is being very mature and wants to look at three different teams next week. The closest one is 45 minutes from home, the furthest is nearly 75 minutes. :eek: Obviously I want her to pick the best team for her, but you can imagine what I am voting for!!
You don't have to talk to yourself! But I agree it's moving slower than I expected for this early in the challenge. I missed getting in here yesterday, but I'm back. Ugh, sorry there is more bad news regarding swim - keep us posted!
I'm used to talking to myself.... but at home I can at least pretend I am talking to the cat!
Glad ;you were able to air some concerns at the school meeting last night.
Pam I'm sorry that you and your DD are not having the best start to her senior year hoping that this weekend is a great time for her.
THANKS!
Now off to finsih the laundry for work tomorrow :laundy: and then pack for a long weekend at the beach. :beach:
Ooohh.. enjoy your long beach weekend!!:thumbsup2
What a crappy thing to do to the kids. I'm so sorry for your DD and really hope an unexpected, amazing door opens for her. Please don't let this discourage her from continuing swim at university if that is her goal after high school.
She is still going to swim at college and is looking forward to meeting her first college coaches this weekend when we do some college visits!
Evening all! Busy time and getting ready for bed, so I'll be quick. Just want to say good-night!......................P
