Jill: I would love to live I another country as well...my advice...do it while kids are young because now that mine are starting high school and getting so involved with athletics I couldn't imagine moving them....well and the fact that DH is still working on his teaching degree but the talk of teaching internationally has come up.
Well turkey is done..might be a little dry because I can't find my roaster pan so cooked it in the oven. Squash in the oven now and then making mashed potatoes for kids. dH is one 36 hour shift so he misses out. I am such the weekend widow

he is always refereeing games and then into long fire dept shifts
It does allow me to have a "wife" during the week

so I guess I can deal w ith it....do have to train "her" better however because she never seems to fold the clothes when she washes them !!!!!!
Hmmm...never thought of the kids getting older & rebelling against us! But, I could see it happening.
You're lucky your "wife" even does laundry. I can't remember the last time DH did laundry. We have a laundry chute & he told the people at work that there is a magic box in our house. He throws dirty clothes in & they come back clean & folded! That magic box rebelled once & DH didn't have any clean under garments left so he did his own laundry! He came out of that one with a new appreciation of all I do (like laundry for 4 people, not just one).

Drums? Did you really think about that choice?

My most long-term, ongoing wish/dream is to travel. I try to enjoy my "little" trips when I can and I am awaiting the day when the kids are gone and the finances allows some real WORLD travel! I even commented to DH this morning when watching a show that had some beautiful scenery of Canada.... "can we go there when we retire and buy an RV?" I'd love to RV around North America (and even South America) and travel Europe like a college student.... backpack, no plans, etc.
TTYL.....................P
Luckily, DS has a drum pad for now. He just started lessons after Labor Day so I'm not investing in any expensive musical instruments unless he sticks with it.
I dream of RVing around the country too. It just seems like so care free-as long as DH empties all the waste

Evening all,
Had a good weekend! Ash won her first game yesterday though she didn't play much. She started feeling car sick on the way to the game. It was down a windy road and she was reading on her ipod on the way! She's had a not so great week with not feeling great but she seems to be doing better today. We went to see Hotel Transylvania this afternoon which was really good. Then we came home and ordered pizza and watched the Patriots

game with a friend. Catching up on some shows right now before the kids go to bed. Brian is in Toronto. I hate being in the house alone so I won't sleep much tonight. A friend is helping get Ash to school in the morning for me. I then have to get Izzie to school and then do a few quick errands and then take Ash to a dr appt. Then I have to work and then Izzie is having a friend over after school while Ash is at play practice. Luckily we have nothing tomorrow night so we'll just watch tv and do homework. Brian will be home late Tuesday morning.
Not sure what I'll watch when the kids go to bed. I may read a little bit and then watch some tv. I have to get up at 6.
Time to get the kids ready for bed!
TTFN
Sounds like you're as busy as ever! I'm glad that the movie was good. I want to see it sometime.

My big wish dream was to travel and I got the chance to do that for 8 years. I am a nurse and I worked as a travel nurse for 8 years. Got to work all over the US and get to see the local color at the same time. Worked 3 days a week and had 4 days to sightsee. Was really great.
Now I'm married and DH and I are "enjoying our retirement while we can still afford it". We take a long weekend each month and do "mini" travel. And twice a year do the 2 week vacation thing.
Traveling for work sounds awesome! I live to travel, but my budget only allows a week in summer & one weekend a year. I say I have champagne dreams on a kool-aid budget
This is a tough one. I have really been doing a BAD job on this challenge and I am actually going the other way! I am finally disgusted with myself and I am getting back on track. I am up 2 pounds again this week and I am not happy.
Mine is to travel also. I would really like to see every state. We have seen or drove through quite a few states on the east coast. But other that that, I have only been out west 2 times ... and they were to Vegas. Seeing every state would be awesome ...... some day ....
Jill ... I think your cat and my cat are from the same litter!

That is really funny!
Have a great Monday everyone!
Get right back at it! You can do it!
Seeing every state would be so cool! We keep track of all the states we've been to & I've been to more than DH. I brag about it all the time lol. DSs like to keep track of where they've been, too. DS9 is beating DS6 by one state (SC), but DS6 claims he's been there.
Maybe the cats are long lost siblings!

QOTD for Monday, October 15, 2012:
In the book I am currently reading, "The THIN Commandment Diet" on the first page he states the following.......
"Indeed, those who succeed at weight control do not have greater willpower than those who fail - they just have better strategies."
When I read that a giant lightbulb went off in my head!!

That statement is SO TRUE! I didn't lose nearly 90 pounds because I suddenly developed great willpower.... it is because I learned new and better strategies!
What strategies have YOU learned on this journey? If you are just starting out, what are your weak points? What kind of strategies do you THINK you will need to develop?
...................................P
Okay, you may have heard this somewhere, but I have to track my food

I went from counting calories to WW. I love WW & encouraged my mom to join last night. I hope she does. Two of her good friends do it, too, so she knows what it is like. My weak point is sugar. I love all desserts & diet coke. I have learned to not completely deprive myself of sugar or I break down & eat half a package of mint Oreos and diet coke! Oh yes, that happened. So now I try to have a treat every other day. Saturday I enjoyed a kids cone from DQ. Last night I had a snack size bag of Reese's pieces and a mini twizzler. I think I'll do better knowing I can have what I want in moderation.

Happy Monday
Congrats to all the losers
and a big thanks to the coaches,
I'm sad to have missed the last couple of weeks
Just got back from the White Mountains
No computer and fell totally off the Wagon
afraid to get back on the scale.
Up Side a new day and a new week
So I'm going to just Keep Swimming
My best Strategies for success is planning planning and planning
needing to shop, chop, and cook early in the day.
Having the right foods in the house and getting my food for the day
prepared in the morning so that when I go all Jekyll and Hyde in the
afternoon I have a fighting chance..
My weakness is hating to food shop
Well off to read back and try to catch up

then....yes, you guessed it , going food shopping
I hope you had a good time in the mountains! Fall must be a great time to go.
I love your Jekyll & Hyde comment! At least you know this & can prepare. It sounds like me some days after work (3 o'clock). I make sure I have a bowl of fruit available now. Before I just grabbed whatever I saw!

well I was up 2.1 this week - not completely shocking since I've been eating out of control since my bday -- I did track and was 19 over points for the week (and that incldued my extra ones!) sooo I got back on the wagon and planned, purchased and will now follow thru the week on plan! Weekends are my week point and so my strategy is to save all my extra points to eat between Fri and Sun.. It's been working for me..
Hope everyone has a great Monday.. JIll thanks for coaching - I loved all your questions!
Thanks so much for your kind words! I hope your Monday was great!
Great job planning & getting right back on track. It's hard sometimes, but it looks like you know what to do & are ready for a new week!

Cook more at home and plan ahead doing it so you don't get stuck in the eating out trap. The portions I can have are so much bigger than if I was to eat out at fast food / restaurants, etc.
My husband and I have started taking two recipes per week that can stretch us the whole week for dinners -- and making them on Sunday afternoon/night. We portion them out ahead of time so there's no "cheating".
After we get home from work- we reheat and we're good to go. Before, the thought of cooking on a work night, made us dread it. Now we just reheat during the week so we're not STARVING or eating extra points / calories while making what we're ultimately having for dinner.
We make our lunches the night before. I used to decide where I would go for lunch near my office about 15 minutes before lunch. Now I have a lunch bag with lunch and snacks for throughout the day.
We're saving money AND losing weight.
You're right about cooking at home. You have so much more control over ingredients & portion size. Good for you for cooking on the weekend! I'm lucky that I get off at 3:00 so I can cook every night & I don't mind.

I keep telling myself "I'm a work in progress". The lightbulb was not invented overnight and it is going to take a lot of work to get me where I need to be but when I get there it will be so great. Just think what the lightbulb did for us. Man I'll be fabulous.
I absolutely love this!!

But SUPER exciting phone call when I got home! Remember me mentioning applying for a job about a month ago? With an organization I would be super excited to work for? Well.... they just called and I have an interview on SATURDAY!

I have to laugh about the interview day because I have absolutely NO intention of working weekends. The application asked me to state what days of the weeks and times of the day I was available to work and I did not check any weekends. DD and I were going to head to URI for an Open House, but we've already been there twice, so I thought it would be okay to skip it.
Oh yay! Good luck!

My weak point is sugar. It's a drug for me. My strategy is simply to not keep most of it in the house. Vita Tops and WW ice cream bars are the only exceptions. The only other sugary things we have in the house are things my husband and daughter like but I don't. But I love sugar. Major addiction. Always will be. Realizing that has been the key this time around. No cakes made with pumpkin or diet coke or whatever this time around. That doesn't work for me. I just like it too much.
Ahhhhh sugar. My nemesis. Which WW ice cream do you like? I haven't tried any yet.

Well, DH just decided to start a movie, so I don't have more time here right now. But, the roof got started today! Yay!
I'll be back tomorrow. Have a good night!
