Biggest Loser Fall Challenge!

QOTD Saturday 9/15- If you could put any country in the World Showcase, what would it be? What would it be like? What would they sell?

I would put another tropical place, I would place Puerto Rico right next to Mexico, it would be very festive, color buildings like old San Juan, beach theming areas. Disney would probable do something with pirates as the POTC ride is inspired by el morro in Puerto Rico. We can have live salsa music and enjoy the fabulous Latin style food. Enjoy piña coladas, and drinks in coconuts.
My mother and father were both born in Puerto Rico, and I go back every year since I was a little kid, I love P.R!

Australia, they could sell little stuffed kangaroos, :)

Well, I'm up over 3 pounds. It could be 1 of 2 reasons: Disney OR my scale was all funkified last week when it told me I was 3 pounds lighter. Oh well, no need to stress over it. Time to move forward

I love this questions and think about it all the time!

I think that the rumors around Brazil being added at some point are a GREAT idea--they should definitely have a South American country in there!! Carnival would be easily adapted into a themed area, and I'm sure that the food would be very interesting to a lot of people.

That having been said, I'd also really love to see India added. It seems kind of like a no-brainer--it's quickly becoming a world power, and people already have some basic familiarity with it. The food would be distinct and familiar to a lot of people (naan bread is a universal people pleaser), the saris and ornate jewelry and clothing would be big sellers and a lot of fun to shop for (I live in an Indian neighborhood and gosh, the clothing is INCREDIBLE), and you could add so much incredible architecture (e.g. something like the Taj Mahal) and statues of Hindu gods etc.. The stories of Hindu gods would be very interesting to kids, I think, especially because there is so much culture around animals there it would be very popular and interesting... Also, Bollywood is a LOT of fun and they could definitely do a Bollywood show that would be very popular with kids... they could learn to dance like they do in Bollywood shows!! (not the same as belly dancing in Morocco!) It could be a fun, flash mob style kind of show, since a lot of Bollywood dancing involves huge ginormous groups of people dancing in the streets.

Anyway, love this question!

QOTD 9/14: Is your family part of your support system? Or do you have a support system at work, or with friends? How do you make it work for you?

My family's a huge part of it, especially my DM who's working on losing weight herself. She always tries to cook healthy meals for us and since dad still like having his sweets, she'll get stuff that I don't like but he does so I won't be tempted.

I just got this really cute skirt for the Wine & Dine that would also work for the ToT
BlackPearlTB.jpg

That skirt is TOO CUTE!!! I want!!

Rumors are running that he will be the next doctor. It will be very interesting if he is!

I think I may die from happiness if he's the next Doctor. I don't think my fangirl heart could take it. :goodvibes

Oh, the sheet... I loved Mycroft stepping on the corner of it as Sherlock walked past - such an older brother!

That and the "You wearing any pants?" line. It's the part I always show my friends when they ask about the show. :lmao:

I'll have to agree with some of the previous posters and say Australia where they can sell boomerangs and stuffed kangaroos. I'd buy one! :thumbsup2

Finished my first 5K this morning. Walked it in 50:33!!! I am sooo proud. I passed people and even jogged some of it. What a great day!!!

That's awesome! Great job!! :woohoo:

Way to go!! I tell everyone, one 5k and you'll get hooked. Start looking for another. It's great motivation!

Hey everybody, its 11pm here and i'm exhausted so this is not gonna be a long post.

I was away this week in Ireland visiting my Granny who is ill and just got back. It was not a great week as she had to go to hospital and is just getting worse. Her personality is completely different, she would be horrified if she knew the things she was doing... You know it's bad when you are praying for her release. This woman has been an outstanding person, never a raised voice, had 7 children, adopted 3 more and still found time to visit the hospital patients every sunday. Sometimes life is just cruel.

1 week makes a heck of a difference to a thread, lol, i will go back and read it all...tomorrow :)

I'm gonna weigh in the morning, but i'm not expecting good things as we've been back and forth all the time, eating crap..but who knows. Tomorrow i will be able to really get my teeth into this challenge as things will be more stable and i'm really excited about that.

Also wanted to say...woohoo for Liberty Square!!!! I've sent my 3 team-mates friend requests xx

I am in the same boat as you :( and I avoided all the "GOOD" stuff while I was there.....
Just eating my way through the day today...maybe tomorrow.:guilty:

The best thing is that it goes with my lime green WISH shirt with the WISH motto:

I LOVE THIS!!!! You are really going to be rocking the race!!!

Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel today. I woke up with a backache and just have been in a blah mood. I had a good breakfast but then ate 3 chocolate chip cookies, a snack size bag of cheetos, and now Alan is making dinner.

BLAHHHH

Well I see I'm not the only one who had a no good, horrible, very bad week:lmao: I won't go into details except to say that since most of things that went wrong were at work, I finished a few work days with a big chocolate chip cookie and a coke. The combo is like Xanax for me alright. If y'all haven't noticed my avatar, take a peek because it is oh so very true:lmao:

Today we took a ride down to OBX and did a little shopping, only bought some doggie cookies though. We were hoping to take Onslow on the beach, but it was just too windy for his taste. It was an absolutely beautiful day though. Date night tonight, so I'm not sure how many more groups will get done, But I am sorting hat handy:thumbsup2

Super excited to get to know my group! I am not fimilar with future world east so hopefully someone can tell me a little but about it.

I have never been to Disney World so have never been to World Showcase. Matter of fact I have only been to Canada outside the US. But I have always loved the vibrant colors and food of India. I love the spices and colorful clothes.

Of course I always love to learn about other cultures and practices so I freely ask other people to share their customs with me so I would enjoy any country.

Hi everyone!:wave2: Just wanted to jump in and introduce myself! I am excited to be part of the group. I was in the process of losing and exercising regularly until I hurt myself back in June (dis-located shoulder) so I had to put activity on hold. Well, that made the scale move in the wrong direction:sad:

So, now I am cleared to start again and I looking forward to getting to know everyone and hearing great tips and advice!:goodvibes

Happy Sunday!

I have about half of use sorted into groups now. And will likely finish today at some point. Once you get your groups get in touch with your mates. I send the PM to all of you at the same time so y'all know when you open it.

DON'T PM ME about who leads the group. That's for group to discuss. I am doing my best to mix up veterans with newbies. If you haven't been assigned yet and want me know which 1 you are prior, you can PM me that but I have a good number of new players noted already.

Off to get ready for church and breakfast. Back later. Have a great Sunday:thumbsup2

WI day today and I hit 30.8 :) I've been chasing that 30 for what seems like forever!

Mine is strange but I went to South Africa a couple of years ago and there is a Coca Cola product called Sparletta that they only have in certain African countries. I even was looking out for it in Epcot but to no avail. It's cream soda and it's bright green and just so delicious. I wasn't super into South African food when I was there, but I loved that soda. It's strange because normally, I've never been a soda person and never drink it.

Whoo hoo for hitting 30!!! That's awesome, Christina :) South Africa would be really cool! I hadn't even thought of that country. I don't know much about it, but I imagine there is so much culture to draw from...and an African country *is* missing from the WS!

I would add Australia or Brazil. I think Australia would be awesome and diverse. Brazil would be loud and bright! I have NO idea what kinds of food or items they would sell, but I'm sure I would enjoy either.

Have a great Saturday!

Jill

I think either of those countries would be amazing. Brazil would so be the loudest and brightest in the WS!! I think they would have to put in a churasco- that's a Brazilian steakhouse where they have "servers" that come to your table with these giant skewers of meat and slice it fresh for you...so yummy!!!

Finished my first 5K this morning. Walked it in 50:33!!! I am sooo proud. I passed people and even jogged some of it. What a great day!!!

:cool1::banana::worship: That is awesome!!!! For your first time out you did it in less than an hour, and that's incredible! When is your next one?!

That sounds like a fun pavilion....and I'm all for anything that puts a pina colada in my hand! I've never been to PR, but I may have to go now, the way you describe it!~

Always blame the scale! ;)

India would be AMAZING!! I had never even thought of India!! I'm getting chill bumps hearing your description, omg....can you imagine having the little classes where they teach the kids the flash mob dance and you're just walking through a gift shop and all of a sudden, BOOM! You're in the middle of a flash mob full of kids!

My family's a huge part of it, especially my DM who's working on losing weight herself. She always tries to cook healthy meals for us and since dad still like having his sweets, she'll get stuff that I don't like but he does so I won't be tempted.

I would totally buy me a stuffed kangaroo :) And good for your mom for supporting you and buying the stuff you don't like. My problem is I like everything!

I have never been to Disney World so have never been to World Showcase. Matter of fact I have only been to Canada outside the US. But I have always loved the vibrant colors and food of India. I love the spices and colorful clothes.

I am really getting on board with this India idea the more I hear about it, hopefully one of the higher-ups at Disney is reading this ;)

Happy Sunday!

So glad to have you on board and to hear about your recovery!! Be sure to send your starting weight to Kollerbear so she can track your progress. And welcome!!!

Good Sunday Morning everyone! Sorry I'm late with replies and posting the QOTD. I caught a bug last week and it is really starting to wear me down :( Now I think it's taking away my voice! I may have to call it the Ursula germ, lol. Thankfully I can still type! So onto the QOTD!

Today we're on to...

Norway! A big part of Norway's cuisine is fish- being an "island", it makes sense! I love fish of all kinds- salmon, tilapia, trout, etc. Plus it's so healthy for you, and can be really easy to prepare, which leads to my question...

What is your favorite way to prepare your fish? Do you even like fish? Do you have a recipe you'd like to share? We'd love to hear it!

I'll be back later tonight with replies and maybe even my own recipe!

I just back back in for taking a walk with the heavy double stroller, we walked 3 miles which is my first in forever. It felt good to get some sun and get the babies out. I love fish, I love it simple broiled with lemon and garlic, when the fish is very fresh you want to season lightly, I eat fish twice a week that's a big change for me since having the baby. While breast feeding I am really trying to eat healthier cause what I eat DS is eating. So I am losing weight to be an example for my kids as well as live longer with them. Yay kids lol! Hope everyone is enjoying there Sunday.

I hope you get your voice back. I hate it when I lose mine. Thankfully I don't lose it often.

As for the QOTD: We are cheap in this house. So while we do eat fish at home it is frozen fish. I like a lot of different fish, just don't have the money in our budget for fresh. So that also means i don't really know how to cook it either.

I am a pescatarian so fish is a staple in our home. I go through phases, but I am currently on a tilapia kick. I really like the macadamia coconut panko Whole Foods sells. It is really not good for you, but the small amount I use on the fish keeps the calories in check. Since dh is a big meat and potatoes type guy, I tend to make him some sort of dead animal to eat and then my single serving of fish. I have the single serving size George Forman grill which works wonders for all types of fish and its easy cleanup!

This question is really great for me - thanks for making it the qotd! I am not a fish eater at all - my mother hates fish and therefore we never had it at home and I never learned how to prepare it. I am a bit difficult with fish as well, but there are some which I really like. One thing I started to eat recently is smoked trout, which is rather common here.

And yesterday at the supermarket I bought some deep frozen salmon for the first time ever in my life, thinking that this would make a good protein source. However, I have no idea what to do with it! :crazy2: I am a decent cook, so I was sure I would figure something out, but I now I am getting all this inspiration from all the answers to the qotd! That's fantastic! :thumbsup2
