Biggest Loser 9 Spring challenge -- Part 2! HERE WE ARE! :)

Today if the weather is right go for a short or long (depending on your mood) walk. Make sure you notice all the beautiful things about spring that have come out in the last few weeks.

If it is raining, just sit at the window and enjoy the beauty of rain.

Good morning everyone. Thanks for the congrats on my son's job. He graduated 2 years ago with a degree in biology. He may want to teach eventually but he really wanted to see what it is like to work in a lab. Last year he had a temp job for 6 months in a greenhouse lab. He has been on a couple of interviews iin the last year but nothing came of it. This came up very fast. He resubmitted his resume to a couple of sites last week. On Tuesday he got a call and set up the interview for Friday. He was only home from the interview for about an hour and a half when the phone call came in. He will be working for a small young company that makes and tests pharmacuticals.

Congrats on all the great numbers this week. I have to go later and weigh myself for this week. I then have to weigh in at school on Monday. I don't think it is going to be good. But the dark chocolate is out of the house. I will be happy with a being stable. At school I have lost 3 pounds over the first two weeks. That contest end the last week in May and the winner will win almost $300. That would be nice but if I am going to do that I really need to step it up.

Friday QOTD A friend is retiring at the end of the school year. I want to look good for his party. Some people I haven't seen in a year will be there.

Saturday QOTD I am a sneaker person in DW. Sometimes I will wear my TEVA sandals but they both have to be able to fit my orthotics in them. In the last 15 years there has been a lot of trips with foot problems so I do tend to pamper them. I also travel with a couple of ziplock babs so that on the way back to the room I can stop and get ice to ice things down.

Spring is here and it is almost time for the family's lawn service to start up. I think is just dh and I this year since ds2 may be at school for the summer. At least I get out and walk when I push the mower.

It is cool here in jersey this morning compared to the temps earlier this week. I want to get in a walk but if it is blowing too hard I may use the tm in the basement.

HAve a nice day everyone. Keep up the hard work

Good morning, and happy weekend!! I feel like I missed so much the past few days. Just been a little busy here this week.

Thanks tigger813 for coaching last week, and welcome and thank you My3princes for coaching this week.

Thur qotd- I love Garth Brooks. I hear he's doing concerts monthly in Las Vegas, and would love to go but I can't. Oh well, maybe he'll tour again some day.

bonus book question- I just finished another Jodi Picoult, and like her books. I am a sporadic reader. A friend gave me Maeve Binchy's newest book so I'll start that next.

Friday qotd- The end of june is my mom's one year anniversary, and we'll be having a mass that weekend, followed by a big cookout and party. Truthfullly, my goal is to make it to and through that weekend, and not to gain. I have a lot coming up, Michael's talent show is this week, which isn't normally an emotional thing, but last year that was the last function my mom was able to come to, then there's first communion, mothers day, my mom's b-day, and then the memories of all that happened when she got sick. I am trying to really focus on the running, and keeping up with that. I think I am going to sign up for a 5k in june. There is one on june 16th in the next town over, called the Louise Rosetti who is 88 now, but started running when she was 50, and she still runs. She organized this race to benefit her daughter's scholarship fund. I heard her daugter was kidnapped and murdered. I think if I sign up for that race, it will keep me focused and help me to continue running after I finish the c25k.

Sat qotd- sneakers if it's cool, or my merrell water sandals. They are like tevas, but they fit me better than tevas, and are so comfortable, and they dry out so easily. I've had them for at least 4 summers, and they are still in pretty good shape. Worth the price.

Well I was happy to be down .6 from last week, since I was up 3 on monday. Now if I can just stay focused and keep the eating under control.

Thanks for the pampering COW, Dona. I slacked again this week on the cow, so I"m going to try and do the pampering this week. It's a beautiful day here, cooler but seasonable, so a walk will be nice.

Jennz- I hope you are feeling better.

Lisaviolet- We always love to see you here, and I think of you any time the word ONLY shows up before someone's weight loss.:rotfl: Good luck.

Lisah- Congrats on 10%!!!! that is awesome!!!:cheer2:

To all of you teachers out there, thank you for all you do to teach our children. It isn't easy, and I am amazed every day how you do it all. I had michael and the 2 friends over to practice for the talent show, and honestly, I couldn't get them all to focus for 5 minutes, I can not imagine how you all teach a class of 20 or more.

Have a nice weekend.:)

Mikamah- I have read EVERY SINGLE MAEVE BINCHY book! I adore her writing! I wish they'd make more of her books into movies! They were supposed to make one a few years back but it never happened, or at least that I know of! Every once in a while I reread some of her books! I have a lot to read now so it will be awhile before I read her stuff again! Gonna finish my book for DD1s class today and start Kingdom Keepers 3 tonight when DH and DD1 are at the NE Revolution game! Also going to watch a few movies after DD2 goes to sleep!

I did 2 miles this morning. We're leaving in 30 minutes for DD2s first soccer game! She's already dressed and ready to go. Just need to put on her cleats. It's a bit chilly this morning and really windy. DH and DD1 left at 7:50 for their game 30 minutes away! I'm hoping they do as well as they did last season. Just hope the girls listen better than they did at practice the other night! 9-10 year old girls all together! Makes things interesting!!!!

Enjoy your day everyone!

Hi Everyone,

Up almost 3 pounds for the week, which doesn't entirely surprise me.

Fri. QOTD (and a vent): I'm the maid-of-honor for my sister's wedding. It's in mid-May and my fitting is a week from today. I have one last week to lose as much weight as possible before the wedding and then I have to pretty much maintain so the dress still fits. I was hoping to be under 140 for the wedding, but that would mean I'd have to lose over 5 pounds in a week. I know it's doable, so that's my goal. Now, my sister just decided that I have to try my dress on today. I'm not happy, to say the least. a) I had other plans for the day and b) I don't want to see the dress on me yet. The bridal shop ordered me a 12. I didn't fit into the sample 12 so why she ordered me a 12 is beyond me. She then ordered me a 16 because we (mostly my mom) were too nervous about the 14. My pants are 6-12s depending on the style and most of my shirts are mediums. I have a few smalls and some bigger sizes, again due to styles. Can you tell I love gowns? Ok. Vent over.

Today's QOTD: I love my sneakers. I just can't get comfortable in anything other than them. I don't even want to wear shoes for the wedding. I wear sneakers whenever possible.

I'm not sure what today will end up bringing. I have a few things I need to do today and am hoping to get in some exercise. I need to drink my water as well. I should probably go eat breakfast.

Have a great weekend everyone!

CC

Congratulations to your DS for getting a job in his field at last! :cool1: And kudos to him for having priorities and keeping that Disney vacation spot time open. :thumbsup2 I know it's been a long time coming.

My event is long-term. I want to do the WDW Full Marathon in 2012, and that means I need to shed alot of weight so I can focus on being a healthy weight for training. Training for a Full does not generally help you lose, and is much easier if you are at a lower weight (or so some very wise people tell me). I want to do a Full once in my life (just to finish it, but for me that will be six hours!), and I have to get it in before the world ends ;). What, the Mayan calendar ends, so time must, too. :rotfl: I'm trying to lose weight this year, so I can train next year. I really think when I lose another 25 lbs, I will be ready.

Wow! A whole marathon. That is a great long term goal, Maria. I know that you can do it because no matter how many times things derail you, you always get right back up and head toward that goal again! :thumbsup2

Our trip in June is great motivation to maintain!

Yep, soon we can make our PS reservations -- then you know we are really getting close to our trip dates. :cool2:

Sounds like you had some great finds in Palm Springs. My Mom and Dad loved the Goodwill in Tacoma, too.

I was down 2.8 this morning so I officially get to keep my 45 pound clippie!!!! I'm so happy about that! WHEW!!!!!

I was good all day! Strawberry yogurt milk shake for breakfast followed by the chocolate pretzel Special K bar. For lunch I had a ww lasagna! I then had 1/2 of a 3 musketeer truffle crisp bar! We went to Texas Roadhouse for supper and I had a roll, cheesy fries a salad, and a steak. I did 5 miles this morning.

They just opened a Texas Roadhouse in our fair city. It has been packed every night but we will get to try it one of these days.

Great loss, Tracey! :goodvibes

Congrats on losing 10% that is a great milestone. I understand setting goals before the big birthday. I hit the big 4-0 last year and I had wanted to lose those last lbs, but alas I didn't. I am still working towards it though:thumbsup2

It's hard to remember that the weight didn't get here quickly so it makes sense that it takes awhile to get rid of it. It's still hard to wait at times . . .

Saturday's QOTD: What's your shoe of choice for Disney?

I had foot problems, too, so I am really, really careful about this. I swore I would never limp around Disneyland again! I wear Merrell jungle mocs when it is cooler. I also have Merrell sandals, similar style to Tevas, that I wear when it is warmer. I can only wear my orthotics with my jungle mocs so I salute you for wearing yours all the time, donac. :thumbsup2

I'm also thinking about getting the Payless version of ShapeUps by Champion. I have a coupon that I need to use for $5 off, just trying to save up the money. They are a lot cheaper than the real ones and I don't want to spend a ton of money on them in case I don't like them.

My podiatrist told me that the ShapeUp designs are based on orthotic shoes podiatrists have been prescribing for years. They change how your foot hits the ground and pushes off and that is why they do change your body. He was suggesting them to me for pain in the ball of my foot from running. I think your idea of doing the Payless thing first is a great one. :thumbsup2

Friday QOTD: My wedding next year. I was looking at pictures of myself in the dresses I tried on. Maybe it was the angle, but looking at the pics made me feel sad. I don't think they looked good at all. I've bee nwanting to lose before hte wedding came up for health reasons, but now I have the extra motivation.

You've made a lot of progress, Jessi. I think those pictures just mean that you haven't found the right dress yet. :bride:

I think there is a special place in heaven for all teachers! :teacher:

I would LOVE to be at goal for my trip to WDW with DS in 27 days.... but I am struggling so badly with these last few pounds I have no illlusions of actually making it. WHO KNEW that the last 7 pounds would take longer to lose than the first 40??!!

 I know that you are frustrated, pjlla, but I also know that you will hit that goal weight because you've come too far to stop now. :flower3:

Friday qotd- The end of june is my mom's one year anniversary, and we'll be having a mass that weekend, followed by a big cookout and party. Truthfullly, my goal is to make it to and through that weekend, and not to gain. I think a June race is a great goal, Kathy. And wouldn't your Mom be proud of how you've developed an interest in running?

It is a beautiful sunny day here. I think it will be in the 40's. Thanks for today's COW, donac, I will get out there with the dog and enjoy the spring sunshine today. :sunny:

Have a great day all!

:cool1::yay::woohoo::banana: I just finished couch to 5K!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for my elation, just had to share! Today I ran 3.3 miles in 38 minutes, with a 11'38 pace!

Just sat down for lunch and I thought I would check in. Lunch today is a veggie burger (no bun) and blueberries. I'm going for a walk/run outside when I am done. It's beautiful here today, 68 and sunny.

Saturday's QOTD: What's your shoe of choice for Disney?

I usually wear Crocs but last May when we went, I wore my Ed Hardy flip flops and couldn't believe how comfy they were!

Congrats

lisah0711 I wear my othotics because I bought a sandal that has a strap at the heel. It goes from the strap that goes around the ankle down to the heel of the shoe. It is hard to find them but if you get the back strap the orthotics might work.

Speaking of orthotics. I got a new pair after I had my foot surgery last year. They are less than a year old. Since I have gotten them I have notice that my right foot turns out more than ever. The new orthotics I got were soft where my old set were a lot harder. I go back to the foot doctor who did the new pair and talk to him about it. I was just wondering what type of orthotics people had.

Got my walk in this morning and just getting ready to relax this afternoon. I finished my book this morning so I think I am going to quilt for a while. I can't quilt too long since I haven't done it in a while I don't want to hurt my hand.

Have a nice afternoon everyone.

Saturday's QOTD: What's your shoe of choice for Disney?

Usually at Disney I wear runners (sneakers). Next time I go I'll be taking my ShapeUps. I got a pair on vacation last month and I love them! So comfortable. I also like to take a pair of comfy sandals and have the ability to wear different shoes on different days.

Got a busy weekend planned of laundry, taxes and paperwork.

Don't forget, bridal wear is usually sized pretty small. I don't know WHY they wouldn't go the other way and do some vanity sizing.... it would make every bride (and bridesmaid) feel GREAT! Anyhow, better too big than too small... it is far easier to take in than it is to let it out! You'll look great! Stand up straight, chest proud, belly tucked in, shoulders back and be PROUD of the progress you have made! (And maybe a pair of Spanx underneath might not hurt?? :rotfl:)

:cool1::yay::woohoo::banana: I just finished couch to 5K!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for my elation, just had to share! Today I ran 3.3 miles in 38 minutes, with a 11'38 pace!

Nice job finishing the program! I'm impressed. I am so NOT motivated to run lately. I went out with the intention of doing a half walk/half run this morning and ended up walking the entire thing. I just wasn't feeling the "run mo-jo"! Plus my ears and hands were cold, but my chest was hot... I know... excuses, excuses, excuses!

Well... happy afternoon all! I"m sitting here trying to buy the new Disney Verizon App for my fancy new phone and I can't seem to get to the right spot on the website. I feel stupid, but I'm not sure it is me... I think it might be a problem with the Verizon website. Anyone else have this app? I hope it is truly worth the $10.

I hit the grocery store this morning and loaded up the house with lots of fruits and veggies and healthy stuff! (Although I did buy a carton of ice cream for a family treat.) I'm saving my points for DD's swim banquet dinner tonight, but I've obviously made some good food choices so far today, because I'm NOT starving, even though I've only had about 6 points so far today.

I hit the stove when I got home from the grocery store and made up a double batch of Manwich (not the healthiest, but a favorite of DS), taco meat, and a large batch of chili (with double tomatoes) for the freezer. I LOVE it when I am organized and get stuff done like that! DS is, as I have mentioned before, allergic to chicken, so we don't eat as much of it as most families I know. DD REFUSES to eat anything from the ocean, so we do eat fish about 1 x per week (I usually make her a chicken breast), but I would like to eat it more often. So lean ground beef (well drained and rinsed) is a fall-back of mine (and I usually add my superhealthy, filling, secret ingredient{s} to make the meat go further and make it less fatty!).

We are leaving the house early tomorrow morning to head to my Mom's house. They just got back from their winter in Florida and I haven't seen them since Christmas. We will be going down early to attend church with them and then spend the rest of the day there, so I probably won't be online at all tomorrow. I hope everyone has a super weekend and I will see you all back here on Monday! ....................P

Back from the b'day party! Didn't eat anything!!!!! Did stop to get my Chinese food so I'll be set the rest of the day!

Scary moment when the little girl's hair caught fire when she was blowing out the candles. Luckily one of the women grabbed it and put it out! I don't even know if the little girl knew it happened. She was more embarrassed by the excitement. Her mom was a little freaked but was calming down. Just a little bit of singed hair that brushed out!

Time for a drink and to start getting some cleaning done around here. It's finally warming up here but still quite windy!

Sat. QOTD: I used to wear my crocs most of the time, but they tend to be slippery when the ground is wet and I almost fell several times. My last couple trips have been in cold weather, so I wore my Easy Spririt Traveltime mule sneakers. I can't find any regular tennis shoes wide enough for me, but I do pretty good with slip ons. I also have a pair of Teva sandals. I don't know the style name, but they're a sport sandal with a velcro strap near the toes and one over the ankle. I actually started wearing those to zumba lately too. I had been doing it in my socks, but my feet were getting too hot, so the sandals are working out better.

I got to zumba at 12:30 today and noticed the instructor's car wasn't in the parking lot. Turns out they changed the time to 8am just for today but didn't bother to notify me. There's only 1 other person that takes the class regularly on Saturdays and they notified her but supposedly didn't know how to get ahold of me. :confused3 It's so frustrating! Apparently the co-owner of the studio notified the other lady through Facebook. I'm friends with the studio, but not with him directly. He must have logged into his own account instead of the studio account so of course he couldn't find me! I think a phone call would have been a better idea anyway since it was a last minute change and they should have all that information since my kids have been taking their dance and gymnastics classes there for at least 8 years! I'm really trying to get over it. I'll just have to go for a bike ride today to make up for it because I was counting on those activity points!

We had that happen last year at my 4 y/o niece's birthday party. It was over in a moment, but really put a damper on the rest of the party!! It was scary. It is one of those things I've thought of many times, but never saw it happen until then. Hair in a ponytail is a MUST for the birthday girl from now on! Glad the little girl was okay.

I totally get your frustration. THat type of thing used to happen a LOT when DD started swimming. Her coach would cancel a practice and we wouldn't find out until we drove 30 minutes to get there!! No excuse in my book. Especially in this day and age of cell phones, email, and Facebook!

Well... I said I was going to get something done and not be back here until Monday, but I haven't walked away from the computer yet! I really want to get that stupid Disney app loaded on my phone so I have something to play with during this banquet tonight if things get boring! :rotfl:........P

Once again, I'm scrambling to catch up....

Hope everyone has had a great day!

I was down 2.8 this morning so I officially get to keep my 45 pound clippie!!!! I'm so happy about that! WHEW!!!!!

Congrats, Maizie on the BIG LOSS! I hope to lose 5 next week so I can get my 50 pound clippie! Time for a wine cooler!!!!

WOOHOOO! That is an incredible loss!! So, so impressed.:worship:

I can't remember the exact order after reading so many pages today :lmao: so here goes:

favorite music: classic rock, or country.

books: I'll read just about anything you hand to me - LOVE to read. Except sci-fi. They kind of creep me out.

Reason to lose weight: mainly just for me..BUT my "junior year abroad" group of over 100 people has our 25 year reunion scheduled this August in NYC. People are coming from across the US, Switzerland, UK, Japan and Bali. I have not seen most of them since we left Switzerland. Id like to be slimmer than I was in 1985!!! :rotfl2:

Saturday's QOTD: What's your shoe of choice for Disney?
.
Definitely sneakers. I can't imagine doing the parks any other way. Although I sneak secret envious glances at those who are comfortable doing it in sandals - I'd never last more than 3 hours!!!

Its a drill weekend for me here so I'll try to pop in and out.

Have a great weekend everyone! :flower3:

Congrats

Have a nice afternoon everyone.

I had hard fitted orthodics until I was in my mid 20s then the leg pains disappeared. My pediotrist says that it will show up again, but in my knees as I get older. All 3 of my boys have "flat feet" as they used to call it, it is much more technical terms now. The oldest has the office multipurpose supports and does fine with them. The younger 2 have custom orthodics that are made from casts of their feet. They youngests are heel cups so they go higher on the heel. My middle son is now in a less rigid support, but still custom. Both boys cannot spend too much time on their feet without leg pain, which usually shows up during the night. In fact the little one just asked for ibuprophen as he was on his feet too much today. They both require a wheelchair at WDW as there is far too much walking and standing for them to manage without. They seem to do okay in most other situations. I have found merrel sandals and the Sonoma brand of sandals that have the strap to the heel in the back which holds the supports in. Thankfully it is easier to find sandals now than it has ever been in the past.

I'm finally home from the fundraiser. We made almost $3000 today :cool1: We have raised enough to fund all of the end of year activities for the class. I am so happy to have that behind me. Everyone tells me it was a great success compared to previous years events. Now I can focus my attention on other things, like coaching. I will also have significantly less stress so I can focus on losing weight.

I've enjoyed catching up tonight and exploring shoe options. I'm always looking for the next best Disney Shoe.

:rotfl:)

Thanks! That made me feel so much better. I did end up trying on the gown yesterday. It's big in some areas on me. I do have some relatives that have noticed I've lost weight. Thanks for reminding me of that. Funnily, I was planning to wear Spanx-I just couldn't find one that fit. I ended up going to Vicki's yesterday and buying a bra size I didn't think I needed, but I got comfortable with, so not a terrible day overall. It wasn't my plan for yesterday, but I shouldn't have dreaded it. Thanks again!

Hoping for a good day today!

Good morning all,

Stayed up late with DH and then woke up several times during the night. I got up at 7:30 just as DH was coming to bed! He'll sleep most of the day! Easy eating today as we have a lot to do today. I need to finish cleaning DD2s room. At least I got all of her clothes taken care of last night. Then it's time to move on to DD1s disaster! We have to go through all of her clothes and box up all the things that are too small to put away for DD2. DD1 has to try and get most of her park project done today as we have a busy week ahead with after school activities.

Need to leave for church in 30 minutes as I don't have my teacher's guide for Sunday school so I have no idea what I'm teaching today. Time to light a fire under my daughters to get them moving!
