Biggest Loser 9 Spring challenge -- Part 2! HERE WE ARE! :)

Tuesday's QOTD: Share how you drink lots of water during the day.

My not so secret to drinking water is to have sliced lemons, limes or oranges at home and at work to put in the water. There is nothing more refreshing than lemon water. I've seen people put strawberries and other fruit in water, too. Although it was nice yesterday, it is still cold enough around here to make good old green tea taste pretty good, too! :goodvibes

HI all, just a quick check in. I am still plugging away but soooooo busy lately that I haven't spent much time on the threads! I had a tough day food wise yesterday at a family party and now I seem to want to eat everything in site. So far today I am still on track but it is a close thing. I had high hopes for getting to 95 gone this week but after yesterday I don't think that is happening. I have completed my first week fo the C25K and that feels good.

SArahMay

 Hi Sarah! Nice to see you. You will love the C25K! :thumbsup2

, hope that you are feeling better soon, jen.

Trying to get everything worked out for my girls' schedules for Thursday and Friday, and keep the house relatively clean, and finish assessments and enter grades and write plans and run and not eat too much and not cry and not scream and not yell! Tomorrow would have been Daddy's birthday, so I am adding other emotional stress too!

AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF - Dh comes home last night and tells me that he might have to move to 3rd shift for 3 months in that late summer/early fall. His company is starting a 3rd shift for the department he is over, and he would have to move to get it set up and train people. I have NO idea how I will have time to get DD to gymnastics, stay there since he usually picks her up, get Master's class stuff done, and be in charge of taking dd2 to grandparents, 20 minutes away, 3 mornings a week like he usually does on his way to work. I just broke down and cried a river when he told me. But, I am trying to put that into a box and leave it until the time comes. I have enough stress for today without adding to it.

, flipflopmom. You have a lot going on and it is an emotional time for you, not to mention your surgery. Take care of yourself. :flower3:

 Hi, carmiedog! Nice to see you! :)

Tuesday's QOTD: Share how you drink lots of water during the day.

I start sipping a bottle of water while I work out, and then have a cup of hot tea with breakfast. Then I go to work, where I fill a 32oz. WW mug with hot water making tea. I drink this throughout the day. I fill a 16 oz. cup with citrus water when I get home (which may get a refill over the evening), and I also drink another cup of hot tea before bed. If I'm having a really great water day, I'll have one 32 oz. mug of tea in the morning and another in the afternoon, but I rarely fit all that in. :drinking: I am not overly fond of plain water unless I'm working out, I find adding the citrus (lemon, lime, orange), really makes it enjoyable.

Maria :upsidedow

Wow! You've got that healthy water habit down, Maria! :cool2:

Thanks for posting all the pics, corinnak! You had a great race and congrats on your PR! :thumbsup2

:cheer2::cheer2:WOW Congratulations :cheer2::cheer2:

Great Job!!! What a great feeling it must be to reach your goal
all the Best :thumbsup2

My advice would be to take some of that Mickey $$ and invest in some padded bike shorts or a gel bike seat if you plan to go to more spin classes. :) Those things really do make a difference. I've had that bruised spin class seat feeling and it is....no fun! Great job making it through the class - the first one is never easy!

I also hear ya on the challenge of having no shorts - I wish we lived close enough to do a Biggest Loser Swap Meet!

Padded bike shorts are an excellent idea! After class yesterday, I swore I would never do another spin class, but I have already committed to doing it again next Monday (which happens to be my birthday... I figure I will torture myself a little as a gift to myself).

I'm still having trouble sitting today. :rotfl:

GREAT photos, Corinna!! Great job on your time too!! :cool1:

Good morning!

I went to the gym this morning at 9. I usually go at 1 but it works better for my DH if I go right away in the morning instead of in the middle of the afternoon. I don't think I like going at 9. All the "good" treadmills were gone and there was not one available elliptical in the whole place (it's a LifeTime Fitness and is HUGE). I'm really debating canceling my membership and just running through my neighborhood. I walk/run 5 miles in less time when doing it on the road than when I am on the treadmill.

Tuesday's QOTD: Share how you drink lots of water during the day.

While my coffee brews in the morning, I drink one bottle of water. I gulp it. Then I have two cups of coffee then I gulp another bottle of water. At lunch time I drink another bottle of water with Crystal Lite Pure Fitness added. While I am making dinner, I gulp another bottle and I have a bottle of water with my dinner. I usually have one more bottle between dinner and when I go to bed. At bed time I have a cup of tea. Oh, and I always drink a bottle of water while I am at the gym.

Now that I see it all written out, I know why I have to get up and pee twice a night. :rotfl:

you look awesome Corinna!!!

Question:
Think it would be ok to start a walking routine and C25K at the same time? We leave for Disney in 2 months and it is now finally warm enough to get outside. DS13 wants to do C25K, out of shape for Cross Country in the fall. But I need to be in walking shape for WDW. Would it be too much? I don't want to hurt myself.

BTW lost 4 pounds during book fair week at school. Mostly due to not snacking and walking about 8 million miles in the school.

Tuesday's QOTD: Share how you drink lots of water during the day.

2 with or after breakfast, 2 before lunch, 2 before dinner, one at dinner and usually one throughout the night before bed. And then if we are out running errands water's the only thing I drink. At home I use my Disney refillable mugs because one full one of those is 16 ounces. It seems less daunting if I drink 2 servings at once.

GAH! Just typed a whole response and accidentally closed the window. :headache:

Corinna - Thanks for taking the photo of us! I got a pic of DD at home later wearing "our" bib number.

Jen A - Sorry you're feeling so gross. My allergies have been terrible this season. Get well soon!

QOTD Water:
I do the best when I have a big container - I'll just keep drinking if it's right in front of me. I usually start my day with 16oz of green tea and then a cup of coffee. After that I switch to water. When it's cool, I drink hot water, when it's warmer I'll drink cold or add some crystal light for some flavor.

I'm worried I won't have a maintain this week. With DH out of town last week, my working late the past few weeks, DD's transition to new daycare, and my hip preventing me from running - I've really let my workouts slip. I do low impact stuff at home like Step, Wii Fit & light strength training, but I'm really craving a good gym workout (I guess that's a good sign though). Also I'm PMS-ing this week so I'm bloated and craving lots of bad foods.

In a few hours I'm off to the airport for a business trip. It will probably be good and bad for my weight maintenance. Bad because I'll be dining out every meal and sitting in a meeting a lot of the day. But good because I plan to get to the hotel gym. And with my food cravings this week I probably wouldn't have eaten as well as I should anyway.

Happy Tuesday!
Yep - I should be cleaning my oven and then the kitchen floor--but I'm avoiding it--'catching up' here instead... I'll do it right after this post--really...

QOTD - Well--I usually have a 32 oz bottle here at my desk and I just fill it up and drink it down, sipping all day, whenever I see it I sip. When I'm really on the ball I will have a cup of hot water with lemon juice in the morning with breakfast--it makes my insides feel better - so it's good when I can remember to do that. I used to make sure I got in 64 oz - but since this group I've experimented with more--and I have found more success when I drink between 96-128 oz a day--especially after a bad day (or two weeks as I've just had)--it seems to help my body flush out the bad stuff... I am guessing that as I get lighter I will need less - but right now that is what works best for me.

I just had the funnest time--lots of people here had posted about Zumba classes--well, I live more than an hour from any gym--so had no idea what you all were talking about. Today's highlighted blog on spark was about Zumba so I read about it and the poster had included a couple of 3 minute youtubes from her classes--oh my goodness... that looks soooooo fun!!! I am thinking of doing a search of you tube and putting together my own little Zumba class that I can watch and do. For any of you who were like me--here' the blog with the videos... enjoy:

Have a great and healthy day!!

I've been soooo bad again today! The scale was over 160 this morning which is putting the YIKES in me! I hope to get back in the swing tomorrow! We are eating out again tomorrow so after that I will work on being good! Drinking only water the rest of the night! Had leftover pizza and some chips and spicy dip for supper! It's my own fault and I have no one else to blame! I've been eating all the wrong things and too much of them! Just no will power the last week! I will not even drink at all next weekend! I've been doing that too much too! I don't want to have to go to a 35 pound clippie! That would be devastating to me! I need to go short and capri shopping but will wait now that I've fallen off the wagon!

Looking forward to starting to plan more of our December trip so hopefully that will help motivate me! I need to get some more BL protein powder this week as I've been out of that for a few weeks! I also need to get back to my strawberry yogurt frappes! They fill me up and aren't a lot of calories. Elliptical and Wii tomorrow after our day out. I am giving a massage in the morning so that will be good for me. Will not overdo it with the Chinese food at lunch tomorrow! And will eat very little supper!

Ok, I've stated my goals so now I feel responsible for those statements. Help me stick to them.

*** Here's the link to the Mickey ring!

I so want it!:worship:

I find it so helpful to write out my goals. Hope you do too! Way to go!

I usually start drinking my water after my 2nd workout of the day. I sometimes will have a crystal light drink and then drink lots of water in the evening! I just poured my 3rd glass for the night! That's all I'm having the rest of the night!!!!

I love Crystal Light!

SArahMay

So glad to see you again! Good luck with C25K!

I would love to respond to people...there are a lot of things I could give praise for, people who I would like to tell you to hang in there with the rest of us, and some where I would just say that "Hey, we are listening...sorry it is going hard for you".

However, I feel HORRIBLE  and took medicine and am struggling a bit. So, I will just post about me. :rotfl:

Today was tough. My allergies were out of control last week and it turned into a cough that makes my chest have a burning feeling (think coughing fits that don't stop). I rode my bike to work to get some exercise and it was okay because going to work is pretty much downhill. I worked all day and then biked home. That was horrible because it was pretty much all uphill. Tonight was a scheduled running night (remember, I am scheduled to run a 1/2 marathon June 6th :scared1:). DH and I started out and by the time I had done 1/2 mile, I was coughing and felt horrible. So, stubborn me...I said I could at least walk the 2.5 miles we had left. We walked to the 1/2 way point and I thought I would just lay down on the sidewalk and die. Unfortunately, I had to keep going to get back home. We did finish it but I felt like crying and decided that it was a stupid idea to even try it at this point.

I am now home and in bed. I am going to try to take some NyQuil and get a full night sleep, hopefully I will feel better in the morning.

I have been logging my food but I feel so bad that I am not coming near to my points so I ought to be fine.

BTW...I LOVE THE RING! Sorry to steal your idea Tracey...but I would buy the ring with the $100 too! It is wonderful!!!

Night Everyone!
Jen

Hope you are feeling better!

Hi Friends,
I'm just muddling along right now, with the school closing and everything. We're getting through it. The kids are holding up fairly well and so am I, so far.

My weight was down below my goal range on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but I am getting past the distress and more into just stress (which makes me want to eat and doesn't make me feel ill) so I bet it will be back to more normal by the next weigh in.

I couldn't believe that a school would close mid-year like that. Glad to hear that your kids are handling it okay. Take care of yourself!

I am a bundle of nerves. I think I have finally finished that research paper, told a friend at school I would take her class for 30 minutes and teach both our classes if she'll proof it for me. That would be a huge load off to get that thing submitted. I am worrying about getting my final test done. I just hope I can get off pain meds quickly after the oral surgery Thursday so I have a clear enough mind to do it!

QOTD: I drink from my WDW Mickey refillable mugs! I take one to school, drink one before the kids come in, one with lunch, and then when they have their twice daily water breaks, I have a kid fill it from the water fountain. They love to do it for me, so they remind me! I also drink one after a run, and at least one or two at night.

Have a great day everyone! Sorry for the vent!

Sorry to hear about your stressful day. You certainly have a lot on your plate. I hope that you'll give yourself some "me" time. I love the idea of using your refillable mugs!

Monday's QOTD: Here is another "what if" question. Mickey Mouse sent you $100 to spend on you only. How would you spend it?

Something I wouldn't do normally? I think I'd have my teeth whitened. I'm a 30-something coffee addict who has never had it done. I have a couple wonky but otherwise healthy teeth. With 3 kids, my teeth fall low on my priority list, but brightening them up would help my confidence.

(I've been MIA here the last few weeks and meaning to get back in the game. The best way is to just jump right in!)

Glad to hear from you! What a great idea!

BTW - If the cough does not get better, I will have to go in and have it checked out. Woke up feeling a bit better today...but I woke up feeling good yesterday too. I have been coughing but it doesn't burn yet. We will see...

How are you feeling? Hope it is better!

I will have to do the elliptical this afternoon as DD1 is having a sleepover and they use my workout room for the bedroom!

Hope the sleepover went well and you were able to sleep! I can still remember keeping my parents up until early the next morning because of all our giggling.

I am not overly fond of plain water unless I'm working out, I find adding the citrus (lemon, lime, orange), really makes it enjoyable.

Sounds delicious!

:cool1:
What a great birthday gift to yourself!

Good morning!

I went to the gym this morning at 9. I usually go at 1 but it works better for my DH if I go right away in the morning instead of in the middle of the afternoon. I don't think I like going at 9. I'm really debating canceling my membership and just running through my neighborhood. I walk/run 5 miles in less time when doing it on the road than when I am on the treadmill.
I don't like it when I go to the Y after work, for the same reasons. It's really crowded, and a lot of times there are people on the machines I like. It's really hard to get an hour in because a lot of times there are people waiting for machines.
Have a safe trip! I hope the hotel has a decent gym.
Happy Tuesday!

I've seen zumba, and it looks like fun. I need the Y to offer a class for beginners who are extremely uncoordinated and have two left feet!;) Is there a video you can get from Amazon?

you look awesome Corinna!!!

I don't know about walking and doing c25k, but I can tell you I have managed to get shin splints from walking a few days a week and running the other days. I only run 2 or 3 days a week max now, and cross train the other days. Make sure you have good shoes if you decide to try it.

Corrina--congrats on your time!

Qoftheday--I don't keep track too much anymore, because I don't really drink anything else but water, especially since I gave up beer.;) I do take 24 ounces with me when I work out, and most days finish it and refill for the ride home. If my weight loss stalls, I will keep track for a few days, just to make sure that's not what's causing the stall.

My bloodwork came back with everything normal. I go Thursday morning at 8am to have the Holter monitor attached. I'm assuming I won't hear anything until next week. I start my work week tomorrow, so I have to wear it at work, but I guess that's ok. I hope it rains here over the next couple of days, because all of a sudden I am having a ton of allergy symptoms, and I'm not enjoying it. Either that or it's a cold.

Don't forget I started a recipe thread on the eating healthy board if anyone has anything to contribute.

Have a great evening.

I did meet my goal of running the race under 27 minutes, as you can see. It was good enough to win my age group, as well, which is a first!

Congrats on meeting your goal and winning your age group! Great pics too btw!

Happy Birthday a little early! Enjoy your spinning class!

Congrats on the loss! I apologize, I can't answer your question. I don't know much about running.

And with my food cravings this week I probably wouldn't have eaten as well as I should anyway.

Hope your trip goes well and that you are able to get in some gym time. Keep safe with your hip, though.

I am guessing that as I get lighter I will need less - but right now that is what works best for me.

Thanks for sharing what helps you. You have inspired me to drink more water.

Another busy day here. The kids are off this week. I'm using the week to catch up on housework. Yesterday I cleaned our bedroom and master bath. Today my youngest son and I hit his room. He was ready to give up most of his todays. I cannot believe how much stuff we took out of there. I also washed all of his linens, vacuumed, dusted, mopped. It looks wonderful in there. :goodvibes Tomorrow I'll do one of the other boys rooms with them.

I just have a few minutes. It is school board elections today in NJ. I have to go vote when dh comes home from voting. Ds1 is already voting as we speak. If you have read anything about these elections in NJ it has gotten pretty ugly between the teachers and the govenor. I don't know what is going to happen but it has left dh and I feeling almost ready to retire.

QOTD I like to start the day with a glass of hot water with red wine vinegar and honey. It does help to keep me regular. I have some tea when I get to school and I usually finish it on my hall duty. I keep a small water bottle behind my desk. I need it to keep me hydrated. I spent a year and a half getting a sinus infection and no voice every 6 weeks. I would get over it and within a month get another one. The ENT guy I finally went to suggested nose sprays and a couple of doses of antibiotics for almost a month. He also suggested to keep hydrated. I don't use the sprays any more but with a Neti pot and being very hydrated I have not had a problem since. I try to get in water all day. I keep filling the bottle a couple more times during the day. I also have some with dinner. I can't drink too much at night or I am up 2 or three times instead of once.

Off to vote.

you look awesome Corinna!!!

Wow - that's quite a loss!

It might be OK to start a walking routine and C25K at the same time - it depends on where you are right now. The thing I'd be cautious about is putting too much on your feet all at once. I would suggest trying this: do the C25K as written and then start slowly on the walking on 1 or 2 of the rest days. Either that or add a little extra walking on the end of your C25K workout. I'm thinking maybe 5-10 minutes additional to start. You will be the best judge of how much you can increase from there. Pay attention to your feet and to your general fatigue level. You may need to get some extra sleep. You may be amazed as well at how C25K prepares you for walking just on its own, too.

GAH! Just typed a whole response and accidentally closed the window. :headache:

Corinna - Thanks for taking the photo of us! I got a pic of DD at home later wearing "our" bib number.

Oh, that photo of your DD sounds so cute! She's 100% adorable even without a racing bib, of course, but I bet she had fun with that.

Don't stress too much about this week's weigh in - you may do better than you think. The nice thing about maintenance is that you are already there. You can catch yourself if it is up, of course, but it's not a crime or a setback or anything. It's just the way it goes sometimes and you can adjust accordingly.

If that doesn't sound too philosophical....

Good luck and safe travels on your business trip!

It's amazing how beneficial water is! :goodvibes

You may be amazed as well at how C25K prepares you for walking just on its own, too.

thanks for the info Corinna!

I may just add the walking in. The track at the green is 1.6 miles for one lap. I need to see how that calculates into the C25K first. The list I have for week one in only 20 minutes. I can walk about 3/4 of the lap in 20 minutes so I'll probably end up with 2 laps each day.
I downloaded the podcast for C25K, I think I'll listen to that when the kids go to bed.
Note to self, * buy new headphones that will stay on while jogging.

Just got home from work. Had 2 clients instead of 1 today. No workouts but gave 2 massages instead! Had Chinese food for lunch. Haven't eaten supper yet. Not sure what DH and I will eat! Drinking a bottle of water right now too. I forgot to add that I usually drink a bottle after giving a massage as I work up a sweat.

Kids had pizza for supper and are now drawing designs at the dining room table. DH just put on the Red Sox game. BL at 8. I will continue to drink water tonight. Plan on getting in some exercise at some point tomorrow. No clients as of yet. Kind of tired. Hope to get some reading in tonight as well.

I adore the little girl who is spending the night. She is a month younger than DD1 and includes DD2 in everything they do. SO sweet. Her mom and I have become good friends and we are going to support each other in our weight loss journeys. We hope to start walking together soon. The girls take Irish Step class together and will be taking a theater class together this summer as well.

Time to decide on what DH and I will have for supper and finish my bottle of water!

What a great friend your DD1 has! Have a great night!

I had a good day. I only have 4.5 of my weeklies left for tomorrow and Thursday and I'm eating dinner out on Thursday night, so I'm a little nervous. I am likely to still lose though, as I've eaten significantly less than last week. The seamstress essentially told me not to lose any weight so I guess I have to switch to maintenance mode starting on Friday. As soon as this cough/cold is gone, I'll be back to exercising. Speaking of this cough/cold, my PCP thinks it could be allergies. She actually put me on an med (spray) for allergies.

Doing a good job with the COWs this week. I focused on fruits/veggies and tracking. So far, I'm 5/5 on both!

I'm going to post tomorrow's QOTD. I am going to write it as if today is Wednesday.

QOTD for Wednesday: Yesterday I ate something I thought was low in points. Tell us about a food/meal that you thought was healthy and really wasn't. It can be homemade, store-bought, or restaurant-made.

With my cough, I was craving something soft and cold. I bought a small cup of soft-service ice cream. I assumed it was low-fat. I didn't realize soft serve ice cream came any other way. I was so surprised when I looked it up on WW Online and found out that it could have been full-fat ice soft-serve ice cream. Plus, a small was 2-3x the size I was expecting (in comparison to other places). Needless to say, that made a huge dent in my points for the day.

Another one that comes to mind is a salad from a restaurant. There always seems to be pounds of cheese on them.

Can't wait to hear others' stories. I learn so much from everyone!

Have a great day tomorrow!
