~ BIGGEST LOSER ~ 9 ~ COUPLES ~ SPOILERS welcome!!!

That was the turning point for me too. That and the way he was with Stephanie when he voted her off.

At times he really reminded me of Ron and the way Ron played. Both of them played games and would do anything to keep their respective partners on the show.

I also had to laugh at the way he was so angry at Ashley and others who voted off Sam. Even Jillian took up for him that next morning saying something like "you voted off his partner". And how many times did Koli vote off other people's partners? What was the difference?

Although if Ashley had voted off Michael, she would have won (providing Koli was also not in the final three).

Koli seriously looked like he could go postal last night. It was weird and I am betting he'll be running his mouth off to anybody who will listen about how wronged he was.

And just like Ron Koli was one who always said they should keep the person who need to be at the ranch the most but then Sam met his goal, so hence he should be the one to go-. I hope Sam & Steph can stay together but as we all know it is hard to stay in a relationship when there is problems with the loved ones family.

However if she had not voted off Sam, the chance of her not making it to the finals might not have happened. Hard to say....:confused3

Let's be honest, it was REALLY stupid of yellow and grey to form an alliance with each other. They shot themselves in the foot imo. It should have been obvious to them that Sam and ONeal were not going to make it putting them in a bad spot.

If they would have played nice, nice with Mike, Ashley and Darius they would have done better with voting and possibly staying in the game.

I also noticed that only a few (Miggy, Melissa and Sherry and maybe a couple of others?) had normal BMI's now. I think a few were still considered obese vs. just overweight on the BMI scale.
I noticed that t too and I think that's a problem with BMIs. They are really no better than the old fashioned insurance weight scales. Both rely only on height and weight. BMIs are particularly ridiculous because they are the SAME for men and women.

For goodness sake! Daris is still considered "overweight" with a BMI of 25.5 and he was a size Medium and at a mere 17% body fat 19 pounds ago.

I guess what I'm saying is the BMI is OK as a guide, but it really shouldn't be the only thing people look at.

Anyone notice the way Michael was looking at Ashley last night? I was expecting an 'announcement' from them :rotfl:

Drea is really carrying that weight in the front, but she really looked good!

When Michael came out I started crying he looked so good!

Melissa is still annoying! Notice how Bob evaded her question of, "Do you believe me now?" and just told her she looked good :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yeah, those BMI things are funky, even Sam was considered overweight.

I hope Sam and Steph make it, but he's young, 20 I think and as stated, when there's problems with the family, its hard. Although it can be done, my husband and I are testimony to that, and if Sam can hold his ground like my hubby did his, they'll be fine.

Drea did look good. I am betting she'll get the rest of that weight off.

Yep, Yellow/Grey was a dumb alliance to make. As I recall, Grey alligned themselves with red early on.

Daris looked so good. I loved him, he was my fave and I really wish him well!

Sam is 24 ... which is good because otherwise I would be feeling a bit peervy thinking he was so attractive.

Grey was better than Red! At least they we smart enough to change. I don't know if the alliance was a bad thing. They went into the last month on campus with a majority and the only two full teams left. I think the Mike/Daris/Ashley alliance was more out of desperation. They knew that they were going to be picked off one by one otherwise. We would have seen a different outcome if Sunshine *and* O'Neil hadn't both gone below the yellow line in week 15.

As I don my amateur psych hat, it is clear that Sam has issues. I think that is why he "had it in" for Stephanie- perhaps he couldn't stand the thought of sharing Sam (at least on the ranch) with anyone. Perhaps he felt betrayed about the whole blood is thicker than water/family first stuff that Sam preached so frequently on camera.

Since the time on the ranch came to an end, he has been so focused on losing enough to win that he seemed to be "lost" last night now that it is over. Whatever mental issues he is struggling with, the ones that assisted in him gaining that much weight in the first place, were simply pushed aside as he worked for the goal of winning. But now that it is over, and his goal is done, can he deal with these issues? Or will he quickly revert back to bad habits? Only time will tell...

Well yea, that was the issue. Yellow really blew it for them.

Good point about MIchael's excess skin and those jeans. I noticed that both his legs and the twins are sort of bowed out at the knee. Maybe just all that pressure from so much weight has affected them permanently.

Didn't this season have the heaviest contestants in the history of the show? That would make sense that some are still obese, as it's not enough time to get to a "normal" weight. Also, BMI doesn't tell the whole story, as it doesn't take body composition (ratio of fat/muscle) into consideration. My trainer is considered "overweight" by the BMI scale, but there is very little bodyfat.

Ok so big questions are we going to watch Jillian's new show together;) And start a thread. Or just meet back up in the Fall?

I will be watching since I am sure I will be able to "see" my family in the many she goes too.:rolleyes1

Okay, you are right. I knew there was a five year age difference between Sam and Steph, and I had it wrong thinking she was 25 and he was 20. She's 29. They make a great couple, I hope it works out for them.

Speaking of Stephanie, I thought her dress was the prettiest and most flattering. Some of those tight dresses looked bad. I thought Sunshine's dress made her look like she was heavier than she was for instance. But Stephanie's was very lovely. She has a lot of poise and style and is so pretty. But in the end, they ALL looked amazing and had come such a long way. Its easy to think some of them didn't do that way when you compare them to the ones that got to goal more or less. But even Midgalia who had the lowest percentage of weight loss, still lost over 50 pounds. Which given the fact she was eliminated early on and had a husband who was deployed is amazing and very impressive.

I agree about both dresses. I think the color of Sunshine's dress looked horrible with her skin tone which already had a beautiful honey cast. I winced at the t-shirts and tank tops she wore all season but was horrified by the dress as well as her yellow make-over dress.

Glad it wasn't just me! I think Sunshine is a truly beautiful young woman, but she needs to learn about what styles compliment her. Which I guess takes time, she is pretty young. I guess she was trying to keep with the yellow team theme. I very m uch agree last night's dress was wayyyy better than the one she wore on Makeover Week. I swear it looked liked the bumble bee doggy costume I almost got at Target last Halloween for my beagle!

I do have to say, overall this was a nice group. The way they often helped each other out was nice to see. There was game play and some not so appealing moments for them all (even Ashley my original favorite had some moments that made me wince). The last two seasons have been nice to watch compared to the one with Vicky and Heba which was my first season watching and really got old with their nastiness!

Did anyone else think that the girls flexing muscles was kind of gross? I mean I want toned arms ,but some looked VERY manly and not pretty at all. Especially Melissa.

How are you guys finding out the BMI's?

I wonder if this is going to turn in a "supersized" type of show. If you "have" to lose half your body weight to win, why would anyone under 300 lbs think they have a chance? Don't get me wrong, I think all those contestants who lost in the 30s% bracket should be VERY proud, but I also think it's telling that the biggest guy and gal were the final two. And I do think they should do a followup in six months/year to show how they're doing...

Terri

The winners have all been in the 50% range for the past few seasons. This is from the BL wikis.

I always thought that the winner of a season shouldn't be "crowned" until the finale of the next season - see who really learned something and kept the weight off for a year. JMO.

I get my information on the BMI's from Wikipedia, they have all the BL seasons and the information about the contestants on there.

I do agree, the muscles were a bit too much on some of the women. Melissa even did body building poses I think. And in all reality, if you get too muscular, it will keep you from losing a higher percentage since all that muscle weighs a lot. Sherry for instance had toned arms but not really muscular arms and had one of the biggest percentages for the women. Melissa looked great, but those big arms cost her. Same with Sam. He had huge muscles which is why his body weight is higher and why if you look at the BMI thing, he's still considered overweight. Even though he's not.

UGh, I can't stand Melissa. She is such a mouthpiece. So glad she didn't win anything. I think she is on steroids. She looks like a man.

Interesting facts:
Darell- 45.76%
Koli-53.35%
Daris-48.55%
Ashley-48.93%
Michael-50.19%

So if America would have voted Koli into the top 3, then Koli would have won.
And Daris would have beat Darell for the at home $100G.
So Daris and Koli would have been the winners, not Mike and Koli.
I liked both Mike and Daris. Koli I did like at the beginning, but he just got more and more odd and cocky at the end. I wish Mike and Daris would have won!
Mike is so smitten with Ashley! And I think she likes him too! They are cute, all giggly and smiley at each other!

Hope they can all keep it off.
Now to watch Losing It With Jillian.
(I see Jillian everyday when I do my 30-Day Shred excercise DVD, she is killing me!)
