Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

the interview seemed to go okay. It was just the first round to see who the official "hiring team" will do formal interviews with. Now I might not hear anything until the New Year, so I'll have to put it out of my mind and just wait and see what happens.

And unfortunately the legs don't look too toned, but I've got great stamina for walking on vacations :goodvibes

HI everyone. Just a quick hello. I am sitting next to my new Christmas tree. Lights are going on tonight and it may not decorated until Friday or Sat after ds2 comes home from college.

Congrats Luvballo on a good interview. I know it will be hard waiting. I have a classroom full of seniors and early acceptances are starting to come through. The tough one is tomorrow night MIT for 3 of them. I have only had 1 student get into MIT so it will be tough tomorrow night.

Off to have dinner and then the lights go on the tree.

Luvbaloo - ditto what donac said ;) you have the right idea, put it out of your mind, it's done with. I'm glad you feel good about it.

Donac - that must be hard to watch your students get (or not) their acceptance letters - I'm sure you care about a lot! Have fun putting your lights up.

Just read this blog about the new BL cast...wow! Biggest Loser 9

Hi everyone!

I have been completely absent lately... just trying to get everything done for my daughter before the holiday break. I have been stuck at the same weight for the past 2 weeks (not that I have done much to help it along!) My motivation just hasn't been there...hopefully I will kick myself into gear soon.

Hope everyone is enjoying the Holidays!

:santa:

Here's a pic off of Guys website. It was really hot in there and I was sweating, but I had to put the precious on (my beautiful coat). Seriously I was being practical I didn't want to have to put stuff down and keep track of it. You can see my husband jumped right in there- he likes guy a lot too,(obviously). I went looking for my gloves after this and he was talking to a guy selling shirts and he told him his Mom loves Guy but he couldn't get an autograph because he worked for the event center so Steve offered to buy him a book (he couldn't buy the merch) and get the autograph for his Mom. So I got another picture on our camera that way and got to talk to him a little too :-) Anyway:

Susan, you look so cute! I really can't get a good look at your snazzy new coat but from what I see it looks marvelous! :hippie:

Have you seen the commercial for a trip to Disney and the parents are too excited to sleep? Hopefully its trip excitement that is keeping you awake!

I'm nervous but excited that I've got a phone interview this afternoon for a job I applied for. Even if I don't get it, I'm happy that I at least got an interview.:goodvibes Unfortunately, its really making it hard to stay focused and get other things done today. :goodvibes

I wish it was trip excitement keeping me awake -- it's more like  how am I going to get everything done?!? :confused3 I'm having a drink and relaxing now so I think it will get better.

Good luck on the job interview. It's hard to wait but you totally have the right attitude. :woohoo:

Sorry to moan and groan... just kind of thinking out loud. I am not working tomorrow, so hopefully I can bring some order to this place and will feel better about things by tomorrow night.

, pjlla. Somehow it will get done, or if it doesn't it probably didn't need to be done anyway. Don't forget to take some time out to take care of you.

I saw that, too, jenn. Looks like an interesting season coming up. I still haven't watched the finale from the last season. :lmao:

HI everyone. Just a quick hello. I am sitting next to my new Christmas tree. Lights are going on tonight and it may not decorated until Friday or Sat after ds2 comes home from college.

Boy, waiting for college answers is tough -- your student are lucky they have someone who cares so much to help them. donac, when does your son find out about his passport?

, Des. Sometimes the best we can do is just tread water when it gets crazy busy. Like lisaviolet says "maintaining is underrated!" :thumbsup2
Hope that you are enjoying the holidays too. :santa:

Have a great evening all!

Lisa ds should hear about his passport in the next couple of days. He was told to send it back in a sealed envelope so he taped it shut. They called him today and told him that it should have been done with post office tape but the regular tape should work. WHY DIDN"T THEY SAY THAT LAST WEEK!:confused3:confused3. I just emailed her without telling ds just so I could hear it from her that it will be okay. I hope I don't get a phone call from ds and just an email from her that says everything went okay.

QOTD: I'm in my second week of waking at 4 so I can get an hour in before work. I've also done some weights and reisitance training at night while watching tv.

QOTD: I'm in my second week of waking at 4 so I can get an hour in before work. I've also done some weights and reisitance training at night while watching tv.

:worship: You are awesome!! That is dedication - I think you are the earliest riser on this thread (I think Lisa is a 4:30 person...but I might be wrong). Congratulations on your commitment!

Dona - how frustrating!! You think you're doing it right and then just to find out...oops! My fingers are crossed for you and your ds that his passport will come through without any problems.

Des - congrats on maintaining for two weeks!!! :woohoo:

Lisa - when do you leave? It's 20 degrees here right now...wish I was going with you! Hey - lets have a DisMeet!! :yay:

Life has been beyond crazy lately........ I missed the cut-off for the weigh-in by a mile! I am sorry LuvBaloo! I didn't even get to sit down to my computer til tonight!!!! Work has been outrageous, and we are having Christmas this weekend in Tennessee with my brother, and leaving tomorrow.

Anyway, thank you to all of you - the coaches and everyone - I hope to make the last weigh-in. We should be back late Sunday. I won't have any access to a computer while I am gone.

It's a little chillier there, too. It was 84 today. I think it was 34 at my bro's house.

If I don't get a chance, here's wishing everyone some awesome holidays, and a happy, healthy 2010!!!!

QOTD: How can you fit 1 1/2 hours of exercise into your new lifestyle? It doesn't have to be all at once, it can be spread out over the day.

You know, I can see an hour most days, but an hour and a half sounds like so MUCH! I am usually following a training plan of some sort or another and so I run between 35 minutes and 2+ hours depending. If I can't fit it in earlier in the day, I do it after the kids are in bed. On days that I don't run, I do a 55 minute body pump class or spin class or resistance ball DVD workout. Not sure I'm meeting the numbers that Julie was saying on average, but it's what I can manage. I walk the dog some days too.

I lost .8 this week! I am officially under 150!

One issue I've been having is going low while working out. It has happened my last three sessions with my trainer and once when I was working out by myself. It means that I'm having to cut workouts short or stop and take a break. So I feel like I'm not getting the most out of them. Even after my blood sugar gets back to where it should be, the feeling persists and I can't give it my all.

The only thing that is different is a new med (Byetta), but it's not one that is known for causing lows on its own. I think I'm going to have to talk to my doctor.

Jumping in with a quick post before posting the results.

Its great to see folks popping back in!

ALittlePixieDust - Maintaining it good when you're busy dealing with loads of stuff :goodvibes

50sjayne - you look great in that picture!:thumbsup2

Lisah0711 - hope you enjoyed your drink and can get a good nights sleep tonight :goodvibes

ilugtig2 - you made it in before I posted and that's all that counts. ;):goodvibes At I think its funny how weather is so subjective, you're chillier weather is a lot different than mine. I started the week at about -20F and should be warming up to about +20F by the end of the week!:lmao:

Eeyores Butterfly - congrats on getting under 150!

Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge Week 13
This weeks total group loss 13.7 pounds!
Total group weight loss so far 429.6 pounds!
Group weight loss goal 500 pounds! As our numbers have dwindled, the goal got harder and is now impossible. There’s 1 week left, let’s see how far we get :goodvibes

Average percentage of weight lost 0.27%

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet.

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 13? This week I’ve went with a simple TOP 10 LIST, which also happens to be everybody that got over 0.5% loss! That criteria may change from week to week. Hey I'm in charge here and I get paid nothin' to do this so you better take what you can get!;);):rotfl: (and if there’s something you want to know, just ask me!)

Thanks to ohMom-Molli for these clippies. They were used for a previous BL but we can recycle. Don't they look great!

Congrats to all the winners this week. I made it to #3 not bad.

Congrats to all of our losers!:cool1:

Only got in my 2 mile yesterday morning but that's better than nothing. I think that will be all I get in today as well. Woke up with a wicked headache this morning but it's getting better. I don't think I drank enough water last night. Made some cookies and candies last night but didn't sample very much and didn't eat a lot for supper.

Taking Mom shopping today and DD2 is heading back to school. Tonight is DD2s last dance class before Christmas so I have to make sure I have that gift together. Then we have pageant practice and pizza.

Time to get DD1 up and get myself moving.

Good morning all! :goodvibes

It's nice to see so many folks hanging in there the last week of the challenge, even though it is a busy time of year! :santa:

And, I'm really impressed with all of the answers to yesterday's QOTD -- everyone has great plans to get their activity levels up and still live their normal lives. :thumbsup2

I will keep my fingers crossed for him, donac. Talk about form over substance, why do they care what kind of tape it is when they should really just care if it is sealed or not? Or at least tell you before if it so important! :confused3

QOTD: I'm in my second week of waking at 4 so I can get an hour in before work. I've also done some weights and reisitance training at night while watching tv.

Nice work, Lynsey! :thumbsup2 Isn't it nice to have your exercise out of the way first thing?

Lisa - when do you leave? It's 20 degrees here right now...wish I was going with you! Hey - lets have a DisMeet!! :yay:

I leave tomorrow morning to go to Phoenix to meet up with my Mom and sister. Then we will go to WDW on Friday. It's been cold here, too, although yesterday we had 4 inches of snow, then freezing rain. :scared1: Luckily some warm weather came in and everything is melting. It will be a sloggy mess today but should be no problem to get out of Spokane tomorrow.

I am usually the 4:30 a.m. person, except for the last couple of days when I am the 3:00 a.m. person. I guess my body has decided to move on to Eastern time already. :rotfl2: I exercised this morning and feel so much better. I'm more excited instead of frantic now. :cool2:

Life has been beyond crazy lately........ I missed the cut-off for the weigh-in by a mile!

If I don't get a chance, here's wishing everyone some awesome holidays, and a happy, healthy 2010!!!!

 to you, iluvtig2. I agree with jennz, the concept of "chillier" is relative! :rotfl: Have a safe trip, a wonderful holiday, and don't forget to take care of yourself. :santa:

QOTD: How can you fit 1 1/2 hours of exercise into your new lifestyle? It doesn't have to be all at once, it can be spread out over the day.

You know, I can see an hour most days, but an hour and a half sounds like so MUCH! I walk the dog some days too.

Sounds to me like you are doing a great job on the activity level, corinnak! :cool1:

Congratulations on being below 150, Jessi! Kind of hard to get the most out of your workout when your bloodsugar is out of whack -- I hope your doctor can help you make some adjustments soon.

Congratulations to all of our superstars and especially to our biggest loser this week, seashell724!

I think that we should all congratulate ourselves on making it as far as we have with our group goal. It will be interesting to see what our final numbers end up being -- maybe we can break 450. :thumbsup2

This was the first time that we had a group goal. Did you like it? Do you want to do a group goal again? Please let us know what you think.

Well, I'll be your coach today, and am trying to come up with an original qotd. I'll answer the qotd's i've missed, and think about it. It's great to see a busy thread as we wind down this challenge.

Share one thing that you have learned during this challenge that you can continue to use?
I have learned what wonderful, supportive friends I have made here on the dis. You all have given me support and inspiration through this challenge, and whether I had a loss, which wasn't often, or I was struggling- weight wise, or emotionally, you have been here for me. I will be here for the next challenge. Thank you all for this challenge.

QOTD: How can you fit 1 1/2 hours of exercise into your new lifestyle? It doesn't have to be all at once, it can be spread out over the day.
I need to stop hitting the snooze alarm, and get up and do wii fit or watp in the morning. I'll aim for 30 min most days, and 45-60 on my short work days. I'm on my feet at work all day, so that is activity, and in the evenings, I need to get more active with my son, get out for a walk, or challenge him to some wii fit running races. In the past when I had lost the 25 pounds I regained the past 2 years, I did the exercise challenge here on wish and aimed for 1000 min/ month, and that with my active job and good eating did see the weight come off. That is going to be my goal for january.

YES YES YES!! I'm in!!:thumbsup2

Lisa, I'm so excited for you. Sounds like a drink was a good idea, just get the party started!!! Have a fabulous vacation and smooth travels!!

A big whoo hoo for the top 10 losers!!! It's so inspiring to see so many losing during this time of year. It definitely helps to have this challenge to keep us accountable and to ring us back in when we've strayed.

wed qotd- With the busy holiday season here, share one tip that helps you stay on a healthy track, or share an inspirational quote or saying that helps motivate you.

For me, if I start my day with a healthy, higher protein breakfast, I find it easier to stay on track during the day.

Shannon, when I first read about your twister, I envisioned you and your husband with the old game, left hand blue, right foot right. :rotfl:

Jessi- whoo hoo on reaching a new decade!!

wed qotd- With the busy holiday season here, share one tip that helps you stay on a healthy track, or share an inspirational quote or saying that helps motivate you.

I am going to continue to work out in the morning so I have no excuse as to why I didn't get it in.

I'll also just do what I did to get through Thanksgiving and eat only small portions of the things I only eat on the holidays. No reason for extra calories from mashed potatoes and other stuff I can make whenever I want to.
