Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

QOTD: We are going into the week of Thanksgiving...what are you thankful for? How can you use this to help with your motovation for weight loss?

I am thankful that I am going into this holiday season with motivation to stick to it and do well!

I am thankful for my family and that we are healthy - looking back this year and seeing how ill I was...makes me appreciate that I am still here.

Down 2.6 this week :) Unofficially down 10 pounds (I started the week before I joined here)

Down 0.4 pounds this week - I'll take it! After a big loss last week, I was nervous I'd gain some back, despite staying on plan.

QOTD: We are going into the week of Thanksgiving...what are you thankful for? How can you use this to help with your motovation for weight loss?
I'm thankful for our financial situation - despite DH being on reduced hours for several months, we are doing well. I'm also thankful I learned how to budget better. ;)
I'm thankful for my parents who are so awesome to us.
I'm thankful for DD - she's a handful, but I forget it all when she learns something new or gives us a squeeze.
I'm thankful for DH.
I'm thankful we could buy DVC this year!
I'm thankful that I weigh 15 pounds less than I did last Thanksgiving!
I know I don't want to go back to my weight last year - I need to stay on track because I'm a lot happier and healthier when I'm fit. Now that we're DVC, I hope we'll be able to visit more frequently, which leads into my other motivation: running in a WDW half marathon (someday). Don't know when, but I started training.

Thanksgiving is long past for some of us ;) :goodvibes I don't think I've ever done the whole sit around the table and say what we're thankful for before eating dinner. I don't know if that's just a family thing or its not as big a deal in my area. Is that actually commonly done, or is it just a TV thing
Some families do actually do this. At my mom's huge family Thanksgiving, everyone has to write things down - even the little kids. We bring out the old ones and it's so fun to read what people wrote in past years.

The food threads are ABUNDANT over on the Community Board! If you don't want to be reading about turkey, stuffing, mac and cheese (who knew this was a t.giving food??), mashed potatoes, gravy and lots of other yummy stuff.... STAY AWAY! I don't know how I will face my lunch of cottage cheese and pretzels after spending the last 15 minutes reading some of those food threads! What was I thinking???................P
Thanks for the warning! I'm trying to be 100% on plan until the big day.

To answer the question - I'm thankful for my family: my DD's and DH first, but also for all the extended family, even the unique kinda wacky ones :thumbsup2:banana:

My family has always gone around the table and talked about what we are thankful for so it's not just a TV thing! I always forget how many wonderful neighbors to the north are with us (which is silly since I work on the Canadian/us border!) I hope you all are enjoying a relaxing November!

I'm thankful my daughter is happy and safe and got her college grant.
I'm thankful all my felines are healthy.
I'm thankful for my job and my husbands job. He got laid off 2 years ago black Friday.
I'm thankful we are going to Disneyland in June!
I'm thankful for my weightloss in the past 10 months. I was just looking at pictures from Halloween that were on the camera and was almost shocked at how good I looked in them (even though I was sick lol)
I'm thankful I am pretty much done with that stupid flu. I think it took a week of being warm and fed to really be done with it. I still have a bit of a cough but other than that I'm feeling great!
I'm thankful for this message board from which I am constantly learning!

Way to go! Isn't it great to look at pictures of yourself and be HAPPY! I am glad you are feeling better!

QOTD:
I am thankful for the health of my DH and DDs.
I am thankful for REDWALKER for getting me fit and healthy and our great walks. (Hope we can do it more than once a month soon!)
I am thankful for all of my friends and clients.
I am thankful for all of you who inspire me and make me laugh and smile and think positively every day!

Did my first 2 miles, 2-3 more to go after putting DD1 on the bus.

What a great list of thanks! I am glad we can be here for you! Way to go on getting that work out in!

Just reporting in that I am a SAMER for the second week in a row. I'm not too disappointed, though...I've had a tough time with motivation lately and have been DRAGGING myself through the bare minimum 30 minute workout (although I did a bit more yesterday.... but I fought myself the whole way).

Talk to you all later.........P

Way to go on getting yourself to do more yesterday! If you keep that up each day you will soon be back on your way to a lower weight! Great job!

Welcome Sarah and thanks for coaching.
I am most thankful for my son, that he is healthy and happy. I'm thankful for the rest of my family, and my friends. I'm thankful for my job and the fact that we are ok financially and able to do mostly what we want, including taking vacations. I'm very thankful for my wish friends who are on this healthy journey with me.

I am happy to report my vacation gain is gone plus .6, so I'm back to my low for this challenge, down 6.6.

Have a great day.:)

Fantastic job on getting rid of that vacation gain plus some! Next week you will get to a new low for this challenge, I just know it!

Thanks for your encouraging words. Not sure why my motivations is lacking. But this week is especially busy and maybe I'm just "out of gas"! Things should lighten up after DS's robotics competition on Saturday... then a few days of relaxing around T.giving will be nice too.

We are going into the week of Thanksgiving...what are you thankful for? How can you use this to help with your motovation for weight loss?

I am, of course, thankful for my DH and kids... and for their continued good health. I want to remain healthy and active for them... especially my kids. I want to be healthy enough to enjoy a nice retirement with DH someday (although if he doesn't pull his act together, HIS health is going to suffer soon :sad2:).

I am thankful for my parents and their present good health (in their 70's and Mom is a 6 year breast cancer survivor). I hope that my increased and continuing efforts to eat healthier and exercise regularly will help motivate my mother.... she eats very healthy, but lacks in the exercise department and I know she would love to shed a few pounds. Dad also eats fairly healthy and stays very busy and active.... so no worries there really!!

Sahbushka.... glad to get to know you a bit better through your little bio. I look forward to your coaching... especially during this busy pre-holiday time!

I'm glad you liked the bio! I hope I can help guide us all through some tough times and I have found that whenever I am coaching/teaching I seem to do better personally so I want to thank all of you for allowing me the opportunity to coach this week!

Thank you to Worfiedoodles for being our coach last week. And a big thank you to sahbushka for being our coach this week. You guys totally :rockband:.
QOTD: We are going into the week of Thanksgiving...what are you thankful for? How can you use this to help with your motovation for weight loss?

I am thankful for the DH and DS. That we are all happy and healthy.
I am thankful for all of our extended family and friends.
I am thankful that our business is going strong even in the bad economic times and that we are in better shape financially that we have been during our marriage.
I am thankful that DS is a good student who loves to learn and has great teachers this year.
I am thankful that I have a WDW trip coming up in a few weeks.
And, last but not least, I am thankful for all of my WISH friends who have helped me end the year healthier than I started it. That hasn't happened in a long, long time so I am especially grateful to you for all your support and inspiration.

I will use all these wonderful aspects of my life to help me keep going in the right direction.

Great question, Sarah!

I am also thankful that I lost 2 pounds this week so only 3 pounds until I can get that shiny new ribbon!
Have a great day all!

That ribbon is a great motivator, isn't it! I am in desperate search for my 55 lb ribbon. It has been elusive but I am determined to get it this week! Good luck on getting yours!

QOTD: We are going into the week of Thanksgiving...what are you thankful for? How can you use this to help with your motivation for weight loss?

I am Thankful for:
My family
My health
My home
My employment
My friends
My many blessing which make my life joyful!

These are all great reasons to lose weight, but the most important one is for myself. I have to be motivated to do it for me in order to make the hard choices and stay the course. :thumbsup2

Maria :upsidedow

Way to go in finding the motivation in yourself. I had that for a while and it is still there, but I find that having additional external motivaters doesn't hurt either.!

The food threads are ABUNDANT over on the Community Board! If you don't want to be reading about turkey, stuffing, mac and cheese (who knew this was a t.giving food??), mashed potatoes, gravy and lots of other yummy stuff.... STAY AWAY! Thanks for the warning and go look at a couple lbs of lard and imagine it on your thigh, then decide if you really want something other than the healthy cottage cheese and pretzels!

Right on...:thumbsup2

Well I'm thrilled to say I'm only up 1 pound now from before I went on our trip!
I'm going to use the disaster movie to motivate myself to lose at least a pound this week. It's a good motivation as it's too long for my husband and the only way I'd want to see it is in the theater so it'll be my reward this week.
Donac-- sorry about the cow I tried but thought I could remember it and then got off track on the daily tracking. Will do this weeks cow though.

Lisa:I bet you see some good numbers today with all your exercising!

I actually had awesome numbers. Down 4.2 for the week! I'm .9 away from 20 pounds! I had several people say to me at work that they could really tell todya! I feel great. I had 2 clients at work today so I'm going to skip my extra 2 mile workout. I sweated off the equivalent of two miles in the 2 plus hours of giving massages. I just ate my lunch now. Off to a girls night and a soak in a hot tub tonight! Can't wait! Gotta decide which bathing suit to bring tonight. Time to hang out with the kids before I go out.

Have a great weekend!

DVC and frequent vaca's sounds like great motivation to me! A half marathon is a huge goal, but you know what they say about those....one step at a time and you'll get there!

Right on...:thumbsup2

Wow, amazing loss! Keep up the great work...and if you want to swing by washington state and give me a massage, that would be cool. I'd be happy to help you get your work out in! Have a fabulous time at girls night! Those are the best!

when, exactly, are we supposed to PM our weigh in?

Thanks!

iluvtig:)

I always try to send it sometime on Friday. Shannon is a very kindly weight-keeper, though, and if you you send it on Saturday or Sunday, or even Monday, she's still accepts it. :) Also let her know if for some reason you can't weigh in on a given week and you'll probably be excused from WI (which is far better than just missing it!)

Just checking in to see all the great answers to the QOTD. Reading everybody elses, makes me think of so many more things I'm thankful for. :goodvibes.

Congrats to all the losers and maintainers! And :thumbsup2 to the gainers for still reporting in. I'll be doing my weigh in tomorrow morning, and will hopefully see a loss tomorrow. Either way, I'll hoping to keep up the exercising I was doing this week. Tonight, I ended up going to the annual start of Christmas shopping in the downtown stores. Its nice to go check out all the smaller stores and start getting some ideas.

Friday is official weigh-in day but as corinnak said, Shannon (LuvBaloo) will take late results. But the sooner, the better on Friday. We are very, very thankful for our wonderful weightkeeper and don't want to burn her out. :thumbsup2

Hope that everyone is having a great Saturday morning. Finally got to watch Tuesday's BL this morning. Did 30 minutes of step, too, so I am ready to go see The Lion King this afternoon. :goodvibes

Have a great day!

I actually lost weight!!!!

YAY!!!!!!

iluvtig

WAY TO GO! That's always a good feeling!

Hooray!!:woohoo:
Good for you!!:thumbsup2

I myself have just kept the same weight so far. But I just started walking lol:goodvibes

Way to go on a maintain and starting to walk! I am sure you will see results soon!

Saturday's QOTD: Ok, so we are smack dab in the middle of the holidays...what is your "must have" food and how can you make it more workable with your goals of being healthy?

My favorite is green bean casserole...you know, the one with the cream of mushroom soup and french fried onions? I am going to make it more ww friendly by using reduced sodium/ff cream of mushroom soup and using less french fried onions than it calls for. It calls for 2.8 oz and I plan to use about half of that.

Also, in order to have what I love, I am not even going to put on my plate things I don't love. They will just add calories that I could be enjoying on my favorites. Plus I will keep working out to help burn the calories and I will be splitting my weekly allowance points between thanksgiving and the day after this year (leftovers you know!)

Have a great weekend all!

Hah. I was actually laying in bed today thinking about the green bean casserole. You see, husband cooks so I just have to stay out of the kitchen on Thanksgiving. I've tried doing the casserole in the crockpot-- but that didn't turn out so I have relied on my Mom to bring it. Everyone also wants her to make her mushroom casserole and I don't want her to have to make 2 things...I was thinking I could just make it ahead of time and then heat it but same problem --dodging husband in the kitchen. I like her mushroom casserole but it has a lot of onions in it so I just take a little and pick around them. That's a good idea with the fat free mushroom soup.

Eggnog. Well they have the light stuff and rum's fat free right? (lol)

Happy Saturday!
I got a 0.6pound loss this week, which is little but I'm happy with it! :goodvibes
The girls and I went to the pool this morning for the kids swimming lessons, and I swam lengths for 25minutes. Got the most in that I've ever done in one shot :cool1: I'm happy that I am feeling less self-conscious at the pool that I was last year!:thumbsup2

Saturday's QOTD: Ok, so we are smack dab in the middle of the holidays...what is your "must have" food and how can you make it more workable with your goals of being healthy?

for turkey dinners, the unhealthy part I love is the stuffing and the dinner roll. I always make sure to make at least 2 veggies I like, and to have a yummy salad, so that I eat at least half a plate of good stuff. I like to add a few cranberries or raisins and some celery to the stuffing, to give it extra flavour. That way I don't want to cover the flavour of the stuffing with gravy, which I used to do. Also before having a second helping of the stuffing, I have another helping of veggies. :thumbsup2

I also love using the leftover turkey to make turkey pot pie! Instead of using a pie shell, this year I tried putting it in a casserole dish (chopped up turkey, peas, corn, carrots, and some low fat cream of chicken soup) then just put pastry on top. Still tastes great, but a lot of calories gone with less pastry :thumbsup2

Have a great day everybody! I haven't opened the weigh ins yet, but I'll get to them later!

Thanks LuvBaloo and sahbushka :goodvibes

Actually walked 30mins today. I was tired, but I did it anyway lol. Now I'm watching Enchanted :lovestruc

Happy Saturday everyone! Catching up with shows with DH!

Had a great time with the ladies at redwalker's last night. Got home at midnight. Had a pretty good day doing a book fair. Did ok food wise but no time for exercising except for carrying the boxes of books to and from my car. Plan on doing some crunches later. Will get up tomorrow and get back on the elliptical. Hoping to reach my goal of 160 by the end of the week. Need to drink some more water tonight.

Going to a friend's house for Thanksgiving. She sent me the menu. Gonna have to do 3-4 miles that morning before going and drink lots of water to combat the size of the menu! Should have extra time tomorrow to get in some extra workouts. Will probably increase things a bit this week with it being a short week and Thursday being a HIGH calorie day!

Have a great night everyone!
