Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

At this point it's a dream but we found this magazine at Barnes and Noble called Britain and it had cottages in it that you can rent. So that's our goal for next year, we'll see. I also want to add an office and a bathroom on the house so I need to see which is more important, lol.

With this new job we are back in the market to move to Europe so we want to spend some time there to see if I like it. DH travels there extensively and loves it.

Ooooh so envious. So envious. And lucky DH!!! Good for you.

Kathy - I would love to hear about your trip. Would love to. I wish I could snap my fingers and be in WDW right now. I should go back maybe I missed it. (I know your son is sick - hope he's better :goodvibes)

Hi to everyone!:flower3:

Thursday QOTD: Lucky You! You have won either a personal trainer or personal chef for the next week! Which do you choose and why?
I think I would take the personal trainer this week. Another week, the chef would be better, but I'd love to jump start the exercise again.

Today is a lowsy day. My DD had a fever this morning and feels lowsy, so I'm using a vacation day to spend the day with her. There's been lots of cuddling and watching Disney Family Channel. On the positive side, I've made it onto here 2 days in a row ;)

McDonald's is a treat not a regular meal choice!

Kathy - hope Michael feels better soon, and thank goodness it happened after you got home!
I hope you daughter is feeling better real soon. Michael is fine now. We had 2 days off, and I think it was Lisa who said she likes to just chill when home with a sick kid, and that's pretty much what we did. Watched lots of tv. Though this afternoon he wanted to go to target, but I wouldn't let him. I'm afraid he could really milk the sick card if it's too much fun to stay home. I'm very short on paid time off, so I don't want to miss much more work.

weigh yourself on your scale? Daily? Weekly?

Thanks!

iluvtig :)
I"m a daily weigher, after the bathroom every morning. I have learned that the daily fluctuations are not always true and they don't stress me out, but when I go up a bit after I've been splurging, it does help to see the gain, and get things back in check.

I was pretty sure that you were ready for a new ribbon. I am right behind you chasing my 20 lb ribbon. If I don't make it this week, I will next unless my scale numbers do a number on me.
Wow, lisa 20 pounds is awesome!! You've done so great all year. Can't wait to see that ribbon on you.

It has been a pleasure to be your coach this week, and I've loved reading all your awesome replies!

Let's finish this week strong, and look for some fabulous losses!

Hi to everyone!:flower3:
Hi lisa. Our trip was fabulous. It was so quiet, and we hardly waited in any lines. The weather was great, a little cool a few days so the parks in the heat weren't overbearing, and we had so much fun. We wore matching tye dye shirts, and it was hilarious. We loved 50s primetime, and the hoop de doo review. We had a lot of laughs, and it was really nice to spend time with my brother. He only lives 2 hours away, but the rest of us are 5 minutes from each other, so it was nice. We shared some good memories of my mom. We had all been to wdw on her only trip 14 years ago about 6 months after my dad died, and she used a wheel chair in the parks, so we laughed about how we almost tipped her out of it one time. It really was such a nice happy week, and even though it's exhausting, emotionally it was very healing too. Here's a pic of us at 50s pt.
IMG_6498.jpg

One of our silliest times was after hoop de doo, we adults had really indulged in the sangria and beer, and we were playing on the playground at ft wilderness, just being goofballs, and we thought those will be our best pictures. Good memories. I guess that's why we keep going back.

Good luck with weighin tomorrow everyone.

Hi! Well, this was my first day off since I've been back from our anniversary and I snagged my sons laptop so I wouldn't wreck my back catching up on posts on the pc. I read everything I've missed and answered all the quotd's :goodvibes
We had a great time- all week they had been forecasting gloom and doom for weather on the coast and as it turned out--it rained all the way there but the sun broke out when we got there. We meandered out to the bayfront and had a great time-- the sealions were out in full force at the dock and we enjoyed an almost empty bayfront-- which is crazy but it is off season and was veterans day. We ate at our favorite restaurant and there was only one other couple there- usually we have to wait in line about 20 minutes just to get in the place so this was cool. We saw a bald eagle at one of the lighthouses just sitting up in a tree-the highlight of our trip. First time I have ever seen one in the wild. He was pretty close too-- awesome, got lots of pics. Had gorgeous sun and no wind--even crazier as it's always windy there. There were hundreds of pelicans there too-- very very strange. I have never seen Pelicans on our coast before- they don't know why they are there either-- global warming is the summation from the lighthouse keeper.
We left for Portland after 2 days and stopped at Evergreen aviation museum and saw the Spruce Goose. Very cool place and that thing is something to see. We checked in at our beautiful Residence Inn--it was one of those cottage like Residence Inn's and our room had a fireplace! The place had 3 jacuzzis for chrissakes-- it made our coastal motel seem like barracks. Harveys was fun and we went to happy hour at a Mcormack and Schmicks where I had awesome calamari and they brought out cheesecake with a candle because my husband had mentioned earlier we were up there for our anniversarey. The next day we picked up the kid from the airport in the afternoon. His trip went great and he brought us lots of presents. We then let him get caught up with internet as he had been without it for a week--His sister doesn't even have a tv lol, and we went out to dinner at a great restaurant I found in July when the kid and I went to Portland for fireworks across the border. It was awesome food and looked like you were on a ship--all themed, and it hangs out over the river. Just beautiful.

Ok-- here's the thing. Apparently I have got the day to day living thing down. Even special events don't phase me much-- but I seem to go bat crazy on vacations.:confused3 Lol-- I weighed myself the day after I got back and had gained 5 pounds! I was astonished until I thought back-- bowls of clam chowder, a bottle of champagne I mostly drank one night, a sleepless night since we forgot husbands snore stuff and the sound machine...(we went and bought both the next day)

Dinner at a pizza buffet that has an awesome view of the ocean, fudge, chocolate, pastrami sandwiches, drinks (ooh way too many of those lol) late night calamari, sweet potato fries and cheesecake.(they also brought us free cheesecake at the restaurant lol)

We walked a lot and I ate tons of veggies at the buffets and fruit (oh don't forget the awesome breakfast buffet at Residence Inn) and I even did stair laps one day at the Residence in--mostly so I had appetite for breakfast after the late night gorging sadly, but I need to revamp just how much I need to eat daily on vacation. I guess I'm used to just filling up when I can so I don't have to eat for awhile and I need to understand that I just don't eat so much any more. I was uncomfortably full a lot!
Anyway-- I think some of that was water weight because a couple days later I was down 2 pounds but still...It's hard too because I think I stretched my stomach and I'm hungry a lot now. Oh well- swam for 45 minutes today an am eating better. Sorry took me so long to catch up but work... and when I got back and checked gottadeal (website that has black friday ads)-- they went from nothing to having tons of ads up, so I'm maniacally trying to catch up with that, making my lists and such. Here's the quotd's:
QOTD: If you were given two extra hours to add to your day (JUST FOR TODAY) what would you do with them????
I'd go see that 2012 movie lol. I'm a sucker for even the worst disaster movies.

Friday QOTD: Which Disney hero(ine) is your significant other most like? Why is this a good fit for you? And if you don't have one right now, which Disney parent is most like one of yours, and how did that help form your personality?
Donald duck. He goes around quacking a lot and doesn't like to wear his pants lol. The duck is his favorite too ;-)

Weekend QOTD: I woke up to a Nor'easter today and had to change my workout plans. What do you do when Plan A has to be altered, for either exercise or eating? Do you have a Plan B ready to go? Do you wing it? Do you decide it wasn't meant to be?
If I don't get my morning work out in I will try to go for a walk with my kid later that night. Today I lost the dumb remote for the tv so I gave up and went swimming instead :-)
In honor of all this white stuff I propose a "QOTD" from Denver - "If you lived in a snow globe, what Disney tune would your music box be playing?" Mine would be "That's How You Know" from Enchanted.
Feed the Birds

Which of the seven Dwarves do you feel like today? Happy, Dopey, Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Doc?
Sleepy I guess, I went to bed at 9pm and woke up about that time today. Our meat mgr. cut herself with a box knife pretty badly the day before I got back so work's been crazy. She's off for 8 weeks....

Tuesday QOTD: Tonight "Merry Madagascar" premieres on NBC -- I think its the first holiday special of the season. What holiday special, movie, etc. do you most look forward to from year's past?
Honestly--Pee wee's Christmas special lol. He just cracks me up-- and its so colorful and pretty. I love when he tells Santa-"ok you can have all my presents" in a way you know he's not happy about it lol. Then muppets christmas and almost any scrooge ones- there's a black and white one I really like. Also Miracle on 34th street (Natalie Wood) Oh yeah-- really looking forward to Love Actually too. ;-) Trying really hard to not go see the Harry Potter movie at the cheap theater also--saving it for when we get the dvd so it's fresh again. Oh and btw--the Holiday is awesome--I have it on dvd too.

Wednesday QOTD: Weight loss can be a long, hard journey. What mental accomplishment are you the most proud of thus far?
My decision to come back to the board and get back on things this week even though I'm up 5 pounds this week. Normally I'd give the frig up about now.

Thursday QOTD: Lucky You! You have won either a personal trainer or personal chef for the next week! Which do you choose and why?
Rachel Ray--'cause I love her and she cooks healthy.

**Oh forgot--we saw the Lady Washington and got a tour as she was docked pretty close to our hotel in Vancouver. That was the Interceptor in the POTC movies :) It was fun, it's a gorgeous replica of a 1700's tall ship. My son and husband really got a kick out of it, it was freezing though and I had to pee (good thing cranberry juice is cheap right now- think I'm working on a bladdr infection:eek: )

Just finished mile 7 for the day (4 on elliptical and the 3 mile WATP). Did well eating today too. Hoping for a big loss this week. Going to get up and do my usual routine before heading to work for one or two clients.

Probably won't get a workout in on Saturday as I'm doing another book fair all day. Should be able to do well food wise as I'll bring my own little cooler with some yogurt, water, my one can of soda and maybe a sandwich.

Looking forward to a girl night gathering tomorrow night at redwalker's! Hoping the weather is good so we can go in the hot tub. I can't believe I'm excited to put on a bathing suit!!!!! Only redwalker has seen me so I can't wait to see if anyone notices the difference!

Have a great weekend in case I don't get on again.

Wednesday QOTD: Weight loss can be a long, hard journey. What mental accomplishment are you the most proud of thus far?

The thing I'm most proud of is that most of the time I really think about what I'm going to eat before I eat it. I still make bad choices sometimes, but it's a concious choice rather than just eating whatever I want all the time and not being aware of what I should be eating instead.

Thursday QOTD: Lucky You! You have won either a personal trainer or personal chef for the next week! Which do you choose and why?

I would definitely choose the chef! I have an easier time eating healthy if somebody else fixes me a yummy healthy meal, but it's tougher if I have to do it on my own. I'd rather exercise by myself than with somebody who's in better shape than me!

I'm down to 6 days now! I wish I could focus a little more, but it's time to really get serious about the packing, etc., and I'm finding it very hard to care about working out and weight loss... ::yes:: I love the Santa Claus movies, too! One Christmas Eve we did a theme around them -- we did a Santa puzzle, had Santa cookies and snacks, and watched all 3 movies. Very popular at my house.

I'm down to a week! Worked on packing a little today. I've lost enough weight that all my Disney shirts are like tents on me, so DH took me shopping. Too late to find any Disney shirts, but I did find 3 summer shirts that will work for vacation. I'm reading "Healthy Guide to WDW 2009" to help prepare me to be good while we're there! Of course we ate lunch at a buffet today, but then didn't need dinner so I guess it wasn't too horrible.

Your shirts turned out awesome! I'll be attempting some of my own soon, probably on Tuesday.

I would choose the chef...I already have my PT in my husband. Plus one of the things I liked best about being in the hospital when I had the c-sections for my kids was the portioned and fairly nutritious food. I know, I know.

Sarah

Good morning everyone! My name is Sarah and I will be your coach for the week (I think!). Let me tell you a little about myself. I am a 31 yo mother of 2 children who are 1 and 4. I work full time plus overtime (ranging from 8-54 hours every 2 weeks). My dh just got a job after 4 months on unemployment plus he is going to school to become a personal trainer. I was a heavy kid and teenager, lost weight different times but never kept it off. Lost 100 lbs on ww after getting married and moving to CA but gained it back with my first pregnancy and never took it all off again. This time around I have been on ww for just over 6 months. I have lost a little more than 50 lbs but have really been struggling with getting to 55. I have tons to lose, it's just been a mental game lately. I am proud to say that I have stuck with it which I wouldn't have done in the past and I am hoping to get that 55 lb banner the day after thanksgiving! Wouldn't that be something to be thankful for.

Now, I am going to apologize right now. I have not been keeping up with the thread as much as I would like and I am afraid I might repeat a QOTD that has already been done. If I have, would someone please tell me right away and I will put out another one. That would be a great help. I live on the west coast so I also apologize to those east coasters as I will usually be posting the qotd a bit late for them.

Shall we start off for the QOTD for friday?

We are going into the week of Thanksgiving...what are you thankful for? How can you use this to help with your motovation for weight loss?

Have a great friday everyone and please remember to pm LuvBaloo your weight!

Thanks,
Sarah

Congrats to all the COW participants!
I did poorly this week, but I'll be doing better next week :)

Just did 45 min of stepping, so I'm thrilled to be 3 days in a row with the bonus session I got in this morning. Hopefully the exercise will balance out the not-so-great eating with DD's birthday celebrations earlier in week.:goodvibes

Welcome back 50sjayne! Sounds like a great trip, and great job getting back on track right away :goodvibes.

mikamah - love the tie-dye Mickey shirts!

thanks Worfiedoodles for coaching last week!
Thanks sahbushka for taking on this weeks coaching duties!

Shall we start off for the QOTD for friday?

We are going into the week of Thanksgiving...what are you thankful for? How can you use this to help with your motovation for weight loss?

Thanksgiving is long past for some of us ;) :goodvibes I don't think I've ever done the whole sit around the table and say what we're thankful for before eating dinner. I don't know if that's just a family thing or its not as big a deal in my area. Is that actually commonly done, or is it just a TV thing?

To answer the question - I'm thankful for my family: my DD's and DH first, but also for all the extended family, even the unique kinda wacky ones :thumbsup2:banana:

We are going into the week of Thanksgiving...what are you thankful for? How can you use this to help with your motovation for weight loss?

I'm thankful my daughter is happy and safe and got her college grant.
I'm thankful all my felines are healthy.
I'm thankful for my job and my husbands job. He got laid off 2 years ago black Friday.
I'm thankful we are going to Disneyland in June!
I'm thankful for my weightloss in the past 10 months. I was just looking at pictures from Halloween that were on the camera and was almost shocked at how good I looked in them (even though I was sick lol)
I'm thankful I am pretty much done with that stupid flu. I think it took a week of being warm and fed to really be done with it. I still have a bit of a cough but other than that I'm feeling great!
I'm thankful for this message board from which I am constantly learning!

QOTD:
I am thankful for the health of my DH and DDs.
I am thankful for REDWALKER for getting me fit and healthy and our great walks. (Hope we can do it more than once a month soon!)
I am thankful for all of my friends and clients.
I am thankful for all of you who inspire me and make me laugh and smile and think positively every day!

Did my first 2 miles, 2-3 more to go after putting DD1 on the bus.

Good early morning BL friends!

I'm sorry that I don't have time right now to read everything I have missed since yesterday afternoon.... but I will later, I PROMISE!

Just reporting in that I am a SAMER for the second week in a row. I'm not too disappointed, though...I've had a tough time with motivation lately and have been DRAGGING myself through the bare minimum 30 minute workout (although I did a bit more yesterday.... but I fought myself the whole way).

Talk to you all later.........P

Welcome Sarah and thanks for coaching.
Shall we start off for the QOTD for friday?

We are going into the week of Thanksgiving...what are you thankful for? How can you use this to help with your motovation for weight loss?
I am most thankful for my son, that he is healthy and happy. I'm thankful for the rest of my family, and my friends. I'm thankful for my job and the fact that we are ok financially and able to do mostly what we want, including taking vacations. I'm very thankful for my wish friends who are on this healthy journey with me.

Good luck with the shirts, sskem/sara. I didn't have the time or motivation to make my own, so I had them made. My dsil and I had eyed them on here, but she didn't get around to it either, so we surprised them. I was nervous they wouldn't make it in time for our trip, but they came on friday, and we left on saturday.

I am happy to report my vacation gain is gone plus .6, so I'm back to my low for this challenge, down 6.6.

Pjlla- Being a maintainer is underrated, and I'm glad you didn't see a gain. :hug:Sorry the motivation has been tough for you. It's a hard time of year, but hang in there. Nice job on getting up and getting a little exercise is better than none. Maybe you need to take some "me" time, and just relax a bit, and that will help get your motivation back. Never give up.

Have a great day.:)

Wow... you lost all the vacation weight and then some?? I'm impressed. Way to go on getting RIGHT BACK on track!

I'm glad I saw your photo at home before I left this morning (the school computers don't show pictures). It is a GREAT picture.... you all look so happy and relaxed and the t-shirts are great.

Thanks for your encouraging words. Not sure why my motivations is lacking. But this week is especially busy and maybe I'm just "out of gas"! Things should lighten up after DS's robotics competition on Saturday... then a few days of relaxing around T.giving will be nice too.

We are going into the week of Thanksgiving...what are you thankful for? How can you use this to help with your motovation for weight loss?

I am, of course, thankful for my DH and kids... and for their continued good health. I want to remain healthy and active for them... especially my kids. I want to be healthy enough to enjoy a nice retirement with DH someday (although if he doesn't pull his act together, HIS health is going to suffer soon :sad2:).

I am thankful for my parents and their present good health (in their 70's and Mom is a 6 year breast cancer survivor). I hope that my increased and continuing efforts to eat healthier and exercise regularly will help motivate my mother.... she eats very healthy, but lacks in the exercise department and I know she would love to shed a few pounds. Dad also eats fairly healthy and stays very busy and active.... so no worries there really!!

I've had a chance to read everyone's posts... things got busy here after I left yesterday! Jayne.... your trip sounds TERRIFIC. I totally get you about the "vacation eating". Somehow we need to remind ourselves that vacations are no a license to eat like crazy!! I can start out the vacation time well, but usually by day 3 I've blown it big time!

Sahbushka.... glad to get to know you a bit better through your little bio. I look forward to your coaching... especially during this busy pre-holiday time!

Worfiedoodles.... Your questions last week were GREAT! They really got me thinking! Thanks for taking the time to help us out!

Tigger813.... I'd love to join you and redwalker on one of your mall walks (if you wouldn't mind a third wheel). Where do you walk?

Talk to you all later..............P

Thank you to Worfiedoodles for being our coach last week. And a big thank you to sahbushka for being our coach this week. You guys totally :rockband:.

Congratulations, too, Worfiedoodles on being the COW winner for the week! That perfect COW score eludes me so I salute you! :worship:

Hello to you, too, lisaviolet. :wave2:

Aaarrgh! I had this huge post answering everyone on the last page, and it is just gone!

I don't have the heart or time to redo -- so let me just quickly say Thank You for all your fabulous posts! You guys Rock!

It has been a pleasure to be your coach this week, and I've loved reading all your awesome replies!

Great job, Kathy, shaking off the vacation weight so quickly! :cool1: You are so right about maintaining being underrated. I'll take a maintain over a gain any day! I think you are spot on with your advice to pjlla. Pjlla, this may be the time that going back over your journals and seeing just how far you've come on your journey will help you to get your motivation mojo back.

QOTD: We are going into the week of Thanksgiving...what are you thankful for? How can you use this to help with your motovation for weight loss?

I am thankful for the DH and DS. That we are all happy and healthy.
I am thankful for all of our extended family and friends.
I am thankful that our business is going strong even in the bad economic times and that we are in better shape financially that we have been during our marriage.
I am thankful that DS is a good student who loves to learn and has great teachers this year.
I am thankful that I have a WDW trip coming up in a few weeks.
And, last but not least, I am thankful for all of my WISH friends who have helped me end the year healthier than I started it. That hasn't happened in a long, long time so I am especially grateful to you for all your support and inspiration.

I will use all these wonderful aspects of my life to help me keep going in the right direction.

Great question, Sarah!

I am also thankful that I lost 2 pounds this week so only 3 pounds until I can get that shiny new ribbon!
Have a great day all!

Yeah on the loss! :woohoo: Here's to your shiny new ribbon coming soon Lisa! :yay:

I'm down .1. :lmao: I'm laughing because I would probably call a gain of .1 a maintain. ;)

Thanks Maria. And thank you to Sarah. Shoot Sarah - I don't know if your an "H" but thanks for your coaching. :flower3:

I am Thankful for:
My family
My health
My home
My employment
My friends
My many blessing which make my life joyful!

These are all great reasons to lose weight, but the most important one is for myself. I have to be motivated to do it for me in order to make the hard choices and stay the course. :thumbsup2

The COW may kick me this week -- adding the extra stretching will be a real challenge, so I'm psyched to see how I do!

The food threads are ABUNDANT over on the Community Board! If you don't want to be reading about turkey, stuffing, mac and cheese (who knew this was a t.giving food??), mashed potatoes, gravy and lots of other yummy stuff.... STAY AWAY! I don't know how I will face my lunch of cottage cheese and pretzels after spending the last 15 minutes reading some of those food threads! What was I thinking???................P

This is why I unsubscribed from the WDW Restaurants Food porn thread -- staring at all that food was not helping me! :scared1:
