Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

Been to the gym for the last 3 days. Dh is training me and my thighs are killing me! I train with him again tomorrow. Hope all are doing well.

Sarah

If I miss a workout I usually end up just missing it - something always comes up or I'm too tired. I REALLY need to do them in the morning, and I know that so I usually do. I have to say though that I have been inspired by posts and have done wii fit in the afternoon a lot more frequently!

Corrina - training for something is a great motivator! I think I'll look for a 5k and register for it!

Sara - please let us know how that book is, it sounds great!

Well, got caught up in cleaning the cookbook bookshelf last night so never worked out again or did crunches. Had a little bit of chips and dip and a lite beer and water.
Hope to get in a workout tonight. DD2s fever is gone so she and I can go to the movies today. DD1 and I will go to church first as I have to teach Sunday school. Gonna have my omelet that I had for breakfast and then eat a burger for lunch. Also need to make my own popcorn to take with me.
I'll let you all know how the movie is later. Gotta get ready for church.

Good morning all! :goodvibes

It is a cold day with snow on the ground here so your QOTD is a good one, Maria!

Weekend QOTD: I woke up to a Nor'easter today and had to change my workout plans. What do you do when Plan A has to be altered, for either exercise or eating? Do you have a Plan B ready to go? Do you wing it? Do you decide it wasn't meant to be?

I make it a point to do my workout in the morning the first thing when I get up. That way it is done. It is way too easy to talk myself out of a workout later in the day: "I'm too tired." "I won't be able to sleep tonight." I have a million and one excuses! :rotfl: If something happens and I don't do my morning workout, then I will at least do my 10 minutes for the COW. I know the exercise habit is the one that is really going to make a difference for me, it is just a slow, slow road to develop that one reliably.

For food I try to always have a Plan B, especially at work. I make sure that I have a Smart Ones, some yogurt and a Kashi bar around so I can snag those if I need it. Even thought I live only 3 miles from home, if I don't have a healthy lunch at work then it's fast food so I just try not to go there anymore. And like corinnak said, it worse comes to worse I can just eat half of something. That helps when you are going places and what I will use when I'm at WDW in a few weeks.

sskem96, I will be interested in hearing about your book when it arrives. There is nothing wrong with holding the line until you return from your vacation. It is hard to be focused on your regular life and what needs to be done when your vacation is so close! :santa: I'm sure I've asked you this before but are you staying at Kidani or Jambo House?

sahbushka, sounds like you are back on track. Ask your DH why
trainers always have to kill your legs right off the bat?!? Is it like a dental hygenist who has to criticize your toothbrushing? It's just what they do? :lmao:

tigger13, glad to hear that your DD is doing better. Enjoy the movie and tell those New England Dis'ers "hello."

I am just going to wander around my house today do some fun stuff. Put up the Christmas lights in our room, already cleaned out a couple of drawers and just take it easy and play the piano for about 2 hours so my teacher won't be mad at me tomorrow. I can actually play almost a dozen Christmas songs which makes me happy since I just started playing at the end of June.

Have a great day! :santa:

Good Morning Everyone!! I have a clean house today so can finally complete my "QOTD" from earlier this week - chair, fireplace, good book - good life! (Add two small dogs for extra warmth.)

But, before I get to the chair - I have about 10 inches of snow to clear and it's still coming down. DH is out of town until later today so my workout will be shoveling snow. Thursday I was making sun tea, Friday it rained, and now I am living in a snow globe.

In honor of all this white stuff I propose a "QOTD" from Denver - "If you lived in a snow globe, what Disney tune would your music box be playing?" Mine would be "That's How You Know" from Enchanted.

Yesterday I spent 5 hours closet diving. I think I tried on everything I own and have them organized by season and size so hopefully over the winter I can move smaller sizes into my closet, and larger ones to charity. Even have a special place for what I will be packing in Dec. for our next WDW trip. Can't wait (except for that part where it snows on Main Street - I am going for the SUN).

Have a great day everyone!!

QOTD: I always have other plans up my sleeves! I've been doing my crunches and reverse crunches if I don't have time to do a full workout.

Great idea -- something you can do anywhere and anytime!

Got my 3 miles in! Gonna have Trader Joe's Pork Gyozas for supper and lots of water. May treat myself to an adult drink later. Still gotta do my crunches later.

Good going with the mileage, you have been so consistent! :goodvibes

Fun for Friday Friday QOTD: Which Disney hero(ine) is your significant other most like? Why is this a good fit for you? And if you don't have one right now, which Disney parent is most like one of yours, and how did that help form your personality?

My first thought (which my DH says is a good one) is Milo Thatch from Atlantis. He's blond, wears glasses, scholarly with an interest in languages, persistent, smart, has a strong sense of right and wrong, a concern for others and loves to travel. Like Milo, he's not intimidated to be associated with a strange woman with an even stranger family!

Corinna, you are killing me! You are not strange!

Weekend QOTD: I woke up to a Nor'easter today and had to change my workout plans. What do you do when Plan A has to be altered, for either exercise or eating? Do you have a Plan B ready to go? Do you wing it? Do you decide it wasn't meant to be?

I used to let just about anything derail me from a workout. I didn't really want to do them! Since most of my workouts amount to "training" for something, though, I have gotten to a place where I really do want to do them and will usually find an alternative if Plan A goes awry. Sometimes I just miss one and it's a big "oh well" I must admit!

Food-wise, it is always good to have a plan B - I try to have a healthy snack with me when I know I could be delayed. I also will just go with the flow and do the best I can in a situation, within reason. It's often possible to eat half of something instead of all. Stop eating when I'm full/satisfied. Choose the healthiest things from what's available. Write it down, whatever it was, so the rest of the week can even out accordingly. Etc.

All that planning has really paid off for you -- and it shows on the scale! :thumbsup2

Fun for Friday Friday QOTD: Which Disney hero(ine) is your significant other most like? Why is this a good fit for you? And if you don't have one right now, which Disney parent is most like one of yours, and how did that help form your personality?

Hmm... DBF is probably most like The Beast. He is rough sometimes, but a total sweetie, with a fabulous sense of humour. He can always make me laugh. Plus he has a temper, and is big (6'7") and hairy (hahaha). But he always is there and shows me he loves me in a million little ways (And sometimes he is messy, but he can manage to eat porridge without dribbling it all over him). He goes out of his way to find particularly meaningful things to do for me. He may have never given me a full library, but pretty close - I have always said I want one, and he has made it his goal it seems to help my ridiculously growing book collection. He's a good fit for me. Before him, I was a doormat sort of, but I stand up to him and argue. He helps me relax and believes in me, so I don't feel so overwhelmed and stressed out. He is supportive and always there... We even each other out in some ways and compliment each other in others. Now I am just waiting for the grand dance in the ballroom!

Aww, that is so romantic!

We leave in 12 days and I just can't get focused! The good news is, I did get my new washer and can get the laundry all caught up so we can start packing! I'm waiting anxiously for the 10 day forcast. My capris I had been planning on packing are getting too baggy in the backside, so I need to try on some things in my closet.

Congratulations on needing smaller clothes for your trip! What a great accomplishment! I know what you mean, we leave in 10 days, and I am starting to get excited! :woohoo:

Been to the gym for the last 3 days. Dh is training me and my thighs are killing me! I train with him again tomorrow. Hope all are doing well.

Sarah

Sarah -- How lucky you are to have a trainer for a dh! And it's so cool that you two can work together to reach your goals, I think it would cause WWIII in my house

You all inspire me so much -- when I want to bag a workout, I read how someone else did 2 that day, and it get's my rear in motion! The morning is definitely best for me, too! :sunny:

Keep warm and try to enjoy the Winter Wonderland! :cold:

I need to finish my coaching duties and get to my workout -- half an hour on the exercise bike and then half an hour of weights today. Yesterday I had a 7M run, so it should feel nice to do strength instead of cardio! My beloved Pats don't play until after 8 tonight, so plenty of time to do everything I need to before the game starts. :cheer2:

Maria :upsidedow

Pamela,

Thank you so much for being so supportive of everyone. It means a lot to the group. So much. So thanks.

Have a wonderful weekend.

I would love to be on here more but I have another WISH thread so it becomes overwhelming - very quickly. :3dglasses

Lisa

Thanks for noticing! I was an regular on a couple of other threads, but they were moving SO quickly I felt out of touch in no time, so I kind of stopped "visiting". I am sticking with mostly just two threads here on the WISH board and just one or two on the Scrapbooking board.

I am down slightly this week, .4...will send Luvbaloo an email. I just finished doing a BL dvd which I totally did not want to do - was ready to pop in a movie and dd comes down in shorts and with my sneakers ready to go. Plus she yelled at me during it when I was slacking off - anyone want to borrow her? lol

Great job everyone!!!

Is your DD available RIGHT NOW?? I am SO considering skipping today's workout. I have been up since 4 am and I am so not into it right now. But I am trying to convince myself to do it before dinner or I know it will NEVER get done.

I just wandered back to the boards, had some free time, and was just reading. I am so excited to find W.I.S.H!

I already posted on the C25K, as I had seen the Royal Family 5K info, and was trying to figure out how to be ready for it.

I also desperately need to lose some weight. I quit smoking a few months ago, but have managed to gain 25 pounds. And, I already had few extra ones hanging around from my pregnancy. (I won't tell you that my DS is 9...)

If it's not too late, let me know what I need to do to get started. (I will have to get a scale, since I don't have one.... For obvious reasons......25+ of them....) I know there's only a little over a month left, so if it is too late, that's ok. Let me know when the next one will be!

Good Luck & Keep up the Great Work!

(aka iluvtig2 &/or Karen):goodvibes

Welcome, welcome, welcome! I'll just say "glad to have you with us" since others have already filled you in on the details.

Lost what I gained last week. Exactly. I am hoping to see a new number on the scale this week because this is my low so far.

Had my daughter's 4th birthday party last night. Her and I went to ChuckECheese to play and then of all places she chose Taco Bell for lunch. Then we had pizza last night at the party so I was a little scared but I did awesome. I even made 5 dozen cupcakes over the past few days and I didn't touch 1. I did let myself have a little ice cream last night though.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Happy b.day to your DD... my DS would choose Taco Bell too!! :confused3 Nice job avoiding the evil cupcakes!

Been to the gym for the last 3 days. Dh is training me and my thighs are killing me! I train with him again tomorrow. Hope all are doing well.

Way to go on hitting the gym three times in a row! I hope your legs recover quickly!

Seriously?? Christmas lights already? And I thought I was doing good just starting making our cards this weekend!

Weekend QOTD: I woke up to a Nor'easter today and had to change my workout plans. What do you do when Plan A has to be altered, for either exercise or eating? Do you have a Plan B ready to go? Do you wing it? Do you decide it wasn't meant to be?

Well.... I try to have a "plan B" handy at all times, but sometimes a change sneaks up on me unexpectedly. For example, since we were up and moving very early yesterday for DD swim meet, we stopped at Dunkin Donuts at 6 am for breakfast (we left the house at 4:30 am ). I ordered my usual eggwhite flatbread sandwich (I usually order it without cheese and then I only eat 1 pc of the flat bread... that brings it down from 6 pts to 4 pts). Well, to my surprise this particular DND didn't carry that sandwich. I was stumped. I ended up ordering an egg and cheese on an english muffin and only eating half of the muffin.... but I estimated it to still be about 7 points.... waaaay over my limit for breakfast. I did have some fruit/snack bars with me, but not enough for a filling breakfast that would last long enough. But it changed my entire menu for the day. I ended up making myself a homemade pizza on whole wheat crust for dinner, instead of indulging in a few slices of take-out pizza, as I had originally planned. So I guess that was my "Plan B".... I just adjusted my calories at another meal.

My plan B as far as exercise goes is usually to get in an evening workout when my morning plan gets foiled. If I KNOW I won't fit in an evening workout, I try to at least bring my sneakers to work and walk for 15-30 minutes during lunch or break time.

Well... I need to get dinner started and AT LEAST get in a short workout. I'll try to be back later.....................P

Seriously?? Christmas lights already? And I thought I was doing good just starting making our cards this weekend!

Yep! We've been collecting holiday decorations since we were married. We have a ton of them. It's our other obsession besides Disney. :lmao:

I told DH on Friday when we had some friends over that whether they are offended by Halloween decorations up after Halloween or Christmas decorations up early, we had it covered! :thumbsup2 Actually we did put away all the Halloween decorations today. But Christmas is out all over -- DH just got the Christmas lights on my van up today. I will have to post a picture. DS loves it when I pick him up late in the day. :santa:

And, pjlla, you are ahead of me because I haven't even touched my cards and I really want to do them soon because they hang over my head the whole season.

Well.... I'm just an old stick-in-the-mud when it comes to decorating. I don't like doing it much (no matter what holiday) and I DESPISE taking it all down and putting it away. Maybe because it is all my responsibility? I put up exactly ONE Halloween decoration this year.... but I did put up a few "fall" things that will come down 12/1. In past years I have put up a bit more for Halloween, but I don't like the holiday much, so not much enthusiasm for it.

For Christmas it seems like I do less and less decorating every year. We are down to just a tree and a few sentimental favorites that I put around the house every year. No outside lights or decorations (other than a wreath on the door and a candle in each window), nothing extreme inside. I don't mind doing the decorating too bad, but the though of having to take it all down, pack it up, and put it away just makes me nutty.

That said, other than we four, pretty much nobody sees the house (we live in the boondocks and our house is hard to see from our tiny dead-end road). We live 2 hours away from the nearest relatives and don't have company. So any of the decorating is just for our enjoyment I guess. My parents did come up last year for Christmas (for the first time) and that definitely made it more festive and I was a bit more enthusiastic about the decorating.

Anyhow.... about the cards... I realized late Friday evening that I needed a "project" to bring with me to the swim meet this weekend (LOTS of time to sit around and do nothing usually!), so I scrambled to pull together a card design using supplies I already had on hand. I packed up what I needed in a tote bag and did the first part of the cards yesterday (border punching, rubber stamping and mounting some embellishments) and another part today (until I ran out of the correct color paper). I bought the two remaining supplies I needed today and will finish up the cards tonight or tomorrow! This will definitely be the EARLIEST I have ever completed my cards! I will plan on mailing them the first weekend in December. I might include a family picture if I can get a decent one taken over the next few weeks. So as you can see it, it was less a matter of being on top of things and organized, and MORE a matter of having a large hunk of otherwise useless time on my hands!!!........P

Back from the movie! It was AWESOME! Or as DD1 put it halfway through "WOW!!!!!"
Had a small bacon cheeseburger at 5 Guys and ate my 100 calorie popcorn from home. Also ate a few small candy bars. This morning I made my favorite omelet again. Need to get some more mushrooms tomorrow as I ran out of them this morning. Stopped at McD's and had a six piece nugget and a few fries from my girls on the way home.

Gonna do 3 miles on the elliptical while watching the Patriots game or Amazing Race tonight. Will also do my crunches before that. Have my last Irish step class tomorrow night. Hoping it will start up again after the holidays. I've loved it! Plan on getting up to do 2 miles in the morning and then doing the 2 or 3 mile WATP after. Should be able to stay OP tomorrow. Going to do my grocery shopping after taking DD2 to school and then go hang out at work and maybe somebody will stop by wanting a massage. It happens every once in a while. I've been doing a once a month meat run at the store. I've vowed not to buy any snacky stuff this month as we already have lots in the house. Gotta go through my coupons in a bit. I know what I want to buy mostly.

Hope everyone has a great week. I should reach 15 pounds total loss for the challenge by the middle of the week. Not sure if I'll make it to 160 for Thanksgiving but will hopefully come close to it! Then I will strive for 150-155 for Christmas!

I'm really in the Christmas spirit after seeing the movie today so I think I'll start putting up my holiday village this week. We have Christmas pageant caroling practice on Wednesday! I can't wait for that!:santa:

Hi everyone!!:wave2:

We're back from WDW, and had a fabulous time. The weather was awesome, on the cool side a few days which was great for the parks, and there was so many Christmas decorations up, it was awesome. You all are getting in the Christmas spirit already, and I'm going to join you now.

On the eating and drinking front, I could have done worse, but I totally enjoyed myself and stepped on the scale today and was only up 2.6, which after burger king last night at the airport, was pretty good. We got in at midnight. Love the dining plan, but had a hard time passing up dessert. We did split a few counterserve meals which helped. I'm on track today, drinking the water, and journalling every bite. I'm hoping to see that 2.6 gone on friday. I know from my past trips, it is key for me to get right back on track, and this is the first time I've done that. The kitchen was pretty bare before we left, so I went shopping this morning and stocked up.

Lisa and sskem96- I'm so excited for you guys with your trips coming up. The decorations are awesome, and we were able to see the castle with the twinkling lights, and the Osborne lights. It really helped me start to get in to the holiday spirit. I do think that I must start planning my next trip to help me through the holidays. :rotfl:

My son just wrote his and his guinea pigs christmas lists, and on them he put "Joy for everyone", and in his letter to santa, he wrote- "I will do Fred's shopping, (our guinea pig), but I can't buy him everybody's joy. Me, Fred, and my mom will make joy for everybody we know." It was so cute and sweet, and really is what I needed, to remind me about the true meaning of Christmas.

Pjlla- I am so sorry about your daughter's guinea pig. We all get so attached to our pets, but kids have such a special relationship with theirs. Hope your other little guinea pig does ok. I love the laundry basket idea. Maybe santa will bring fred a special basket for christmas.

Lisa- I love that you decorate your van. In college I had a 1972 delta 88, which was huge, and I decorated it with tinsel, and ornaments, with some mistletoe above my head that I used to get a kiss out of the gas station attendant I liked. You brought me back in time with that memory.

I did go back and read most of the last week, and want to send good wishes to everyone and their families who are sick. It has been such a tough fall for so many people.

Tracey- glad you liked the movie. I would have joined you if we got in earlier last night. It was fun to go to the train tour with everyone. Did bill join you too? Sorry I missed it.

Gotta go finish the laundry before America's funniest videos. That is our new routine to wind down the weekends.

It sounds like you had so much fun!! I've only been once during the holidays and that was in 1974!! :rotfl: Honestly though, I still remember being SO impressed with them.

Great job just gaining 2.6.... that is a drop in the bucket (as far as eating/weight gain on a Disney trip) and you will see it gone in NO TIME!

I am SO proud of you for getting RIGHT BACK ON TRACK as soon as you got home! That was the KEY for me and I contribute much of my continued success at losing/maintaining to getting back on track right after our 2008 trip.

Good luck with the laundry.................P

Welcome back, Mikamah! Missed you today but glad you had a great trip! It was rather a small group, only about 12 this time. Bill didn't join us! Where are you Billtm?

We'll have to plan another get together when Alice in Wonderland comes out!!!!!
Good for you with getting back OP and only gaining 2.6. I had trouble getting back OP after the April trip due to my knee injury. But now I'm happy with my progress. Almost at 15 for the challenge.

Just finished all sorts of crunches and as soon as the girls are in bed DH and I are heading downstairs to watch the Patriots game while I do the elliptical!

Have a great week! I'm working on some laundry too! Good luck!

Tracey

pjilla - DD said "get that workout in! So you have no energy, that will all change after you workout and you might even feel like doing another workout after dinner! Plus on the Biggest Loser they are getting up so early and working out all day so for one day you can be tired and workout. Go to bed early tonight." so...a little late but that's her motivational speech for you.;)

Tigger813 - I'm so glad you liked - no LOVED - the movie! I really want to see but DH says it's just the same old story. I can always go w/dd but I'd like us all to go.

I'm so excited, my family and I are doing the couch to 5k program together! I told them when we go they can just go ahead without me and then they'll catch up with me on the way back :rotfl: We found a great place to go, very wide sidewalk by dd's cheer gym. I got new sneakers today and was explaining to the sales guy what I was doing and he said, "Great! What 5k are you running?" I was like what the heck I'm not actually committing to finishing it! DH was there and jumped on it though, so we are doing a 5k in May. Yes it's a long time from now but I'm fine with that. lol

Getting the QOTD up before the day gets too old...

Which of the seven Dwarves do you feel like today? Happy, Dopey, Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Doc?

I'm going to say I feel like Happy today -- I'm having lunch with an old friend, I've already done my 5M, and it should be a good week -- even though I'm going to have to pour it on to lose this week. I had a good loss last week, and that means double-time if I want to see the scale go down again. :goodvibes

Back later after I make it to work, gotta get the family out the door!

I"m a little sleepy, but happy, still on my disney high. Back to work at 9, but it's a short day, then i have michaels teacher conference, and am going to hit walmart to get guitar hero for wii for christmas. Don't know if that's a toy that will be hard to find or not, so I thought I'd start early.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning friends!

Well.... I never got in the workout last night....:rolleyes1... but I'm not feeling too bad about it. It was my first day off of exercise in 7 days. Plus I did an extra intense workout this morning... my BL Cardiomax. I haven't done it in a long time and I was impressed with how well I kept up with it!

This week is going to be CRAZY busy, so I probably won't be able to be around more than once a day.... so don't wonder what happened to me if you don't see me around much.

Well... since there isn't a dwarf named "Busy", I guess I'll go with Doc. Pleasant, but all business.

Sending continued prayers and PD to those of you with illnesses..........P

QOTD:
OK, I'm totally HAPPY today! Somehow, I am down 2.2 pounds since Friday's weigh in. I think metabolism has totally kicked in with me again. I don't remember the last time I weighed this! Can I put up my 15 pound sign!!!!!! I'm almost to 20! I did 2.5 miles last night and did 2 this morning. Going to try either the 2 or 3 mile WATP later and then I have my last Irish Step class tonight. Hope it will start up again after Christmas. I'm really enjoying it!

Have a wonderful day everyone. Taking DD2 to preschool then going grocery shopping! Then doing a few things at the house before I go to work and hope someone comes in for a massage!

Hi to all and good thoughts to those whose families are not well.
I wasn't exactly away all weekend but had family here and very busy.
I almost had 170 beat but, of course, with the family here I didn't eat very well....so I'm up alittle.
Tonight a mini sub-vacation. I got a speeding ticket last October:scared1: while driving an injured cat (hit by car) and injured raccoon to the vet. First time in 21 years, usually the T.O. police let us go, if there's a good reason. We have a good working relationship with most of them.
And to top it off, the ticket is returnable at Old City Hall, about 2 hours from here. I'm on vacation right now and don't fancy getting up at 5am. I'm going to go down to the city and stay in a small hotel tonight so I can get there nice and early tomorrow (to throw myself on the court's mercy)
I didn't get away this year at all, being new on the farm, and that was okay, but I'm actually looking forward to one night in a hotel:rotfl: I probably wont eat very well but I'll try. It's a bit of a splurge and silly that I'm looking forward to it.
I'm really sorry so many of your kids have the flu. With them going to school I don't know how they could avoid it.:grouphug:

I think Happy today.:thumbsup2

Good morning all!

In honor of all this white stuff I propose a "QOTD" from Denver - "If you lived in a snow globe, what Disney tune would your music box be playing?" Mine would be "That's How You Know" from Enchanted.

My snow globe would be playing "Hakuna Matata." Did you find any treasures in your closet?

I really like the idea of just eating half of something -- I'm going to use that one! :goodvibes

That's a corinnak idea! :thumbsup2

Well.... I'm just an old stick-in-the-mud when it comes to decorating. I don't like doing it much (no matter what holiday) and I DESPISE taking it all down and putting it away. Maybe because it is all my responsibility?

Yeah, that would put a damper on the decorating thing. I'm impressed that you are making your cards! :santa:

Hope everyone has a great week. I should reach 15 pounds total loss for the challenge by the middle of the week. Not sure if I'll make it to 160 for Thanksgiving but will hopefully come close to it! Then I will strive for 150-155 for Christmas!

Woo! Hoo! Way to go, Tracey! :cool1:

mikamah, welcome back! :goodvibes Glad to hear that you had a great time. I think trip planning is a good thing to do as soon as you return.

I love Michael's Christmas list. He is such a sweetheart!

jennz, great job starting on the C25K. There is a thread for it on the WISH boards. I think shortynbug just finished the program. Corinnak is hostessing that thread.

I'm going to pick Doc today because I have a busy, busy week so I'd better get myself off the computer and into the shower!

Have a great day all!
