Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

 Tracey, take care of yourself while you are ill.

Thanks, Lisa!
I was supposed to chaperone my daughters field trip tomorrow so she's disappointed. I'll just lay low, do some laundry, watch some movies and pray it goes away. I'm supposed to go to my Irish Step class tomorrow night. There are only 6 classes so I don't want to miss any. My 17 year old nephew is recovering from H1N1.
I have an annoying tickle in my throat and am starting to cough more. Temp is only 99.3 but when it's normally 96 I know that something is going on. I won't over do it exercising tomorrow, just some Wii Fit. I will also be drinking lots of tea and water! I had the flu in May and really don't want that again and we've been unable to get flu shots here yet. :surfweb::sick:

I'm in the same boat. Do you have the McDonald's Monopoly game in Canada? I always go to McD more during Monopoly. Just trying to stick with buying sweet teas for the kids and nothing for myself!

Yup, we've got McDonald's Monopoly too. And I haven't won anything except flabby butt :lmao:

Saturday QOTD: What's the #1 item on your holiday wish list?

Its not going to happen anytime soon, but my #1 dream wish list item is a week vacation with just DH.:goodvibes

Just had a NSV!!!

I haven't gone running outside for a good week or so (sort of doing Cto5K), and today is gorgeous (snow melted!), so I thought I'd head out... I went to put on my iPod arm band, and it is the first time I was actually able to wear it on my upper arm where it is supposed to be! I was so excited when I slid it on and it just kept on going! Woohoo!:woohoo:

congrats on the NSV :thumbsup2

HI EVERYONE!! back from the short-trip to WDW while DH had convention there. as always a fantastic time.....less the trip to Urgent Care with chemical conjuncivitis! did you know there is an urgent care on property with free shuttle service? now you do!

i was up .8 and not surprised, i'm still struggling to journal but i've got portions under more control I believe. didn't do so hot in the exercise category last week, being gone then working a day and a very busy weekend! life is good....no complaints....just gotta get re-focused and there is no place better then here ::yes::

glad you had a great trip, sorry you had to find out about urgent care on property the hard way.:flower3:

Thanks, Lisa!

Good Morning everyone. I have an inservice day so I get to start at 8:15. But that means I don't get out my usual time. I have nothing to do for about an hour. I hate when they change my time. I am up and ready to go why can't they. I may go early and walk for a few minutes since it is still cold outside

It is pretty quiet here. I spent a very quiet SUnday. Workout, church, a little grocery shopping and relaxed the rest of the day. I even took a nap. Went to bed at 10 and had a great night sleep.

Well I better go and get something done before I leave for school. I have to pack some good snacks for the inservice and I think I need to clean out the frig before the garbage men come. Have a great day everyone.

Thanks, LuvBaloo!

Throat is more scratchy than sore but nose is stuffed. Happy to say that I didn't have a fever. Gonna hang low, maybe do a little Wii Fit. Hoping I feel well enough for my Irish Step Class tonight. I also have some laundry to get done. That shouldn't take me too long, maybe 2 loads.

Not gonna step on the scale though I did eat responsibly this weekend. I made some homemade mac and cheese with Monterey Jack with Jalapeno cheese. Gave it some zip! Think we're going to have meatball subs for supper. I'll eat early with DD1 before her Irish Step class. Don't know what DD2 will eat. She only likes chicken meat.

Have a nice day everyone. Think I'll watch some Christmas movies today. That will make me feel better.:santa:

thanks for the reminder luvbaloo..I totally forgot to pm you its on its way.

I got a body bugg on friday I am looking forward to using this week and seeing a difference.

Good morning fellow losers. I haven't been around much the past few days, and I also haven't been eating too well. I just set a goal for this week to journal all my food, stay within my points, and to post here every day. I do so much better when I do that. It's that time of the month, and bought a chocolate croissant, a piece of alden merrell carrot cake, and a dove candy bar when I went shopping and ate them all over the weekend and didn't journal anything. Mindless shopping + mindless eating = mindless weight gain, so I'm stopping right now. The only chocolate I have left are fiberone bars, and I must stop at one with those.:rotfl:

Tigger813- I'm glad you are feeling better. You are very inspiring when you aren't feeling well, to keep up with the exercise, and not just lay on the couch and eat. Christmas movies sound good today. We put on a christmas cd yesterday while we carved pumpkins. Guess I should get some halloween music.

Lisa- only 60 days til your Christmas trip!!!! I can't believe it. Once halloween is over, it will be just around the corner.

We leave in 20 days! I just tried on my 16 capris that I so want to wear. I could wear them, but not to Crystal Palace. I still have 3 weeks to buckle down. Another 5 pounds and they will be fine. I can do it. I want to be comfortable, yet, I'd rather not wear clothes that are a little loose where I won't be reminded to stop eating.

The qotd diet plan- I am doing ww. I've done it many times, but fairly consistently over the past 4 years. I like the meetings, and I've done it on my own, and through the meetings, and I"m definitely more successful when I'm going to meetings. I am lighter than I was 4 years ago, so that is a success for me. I am a numbers person, and have always liked the control of the points system.

Christmas list- I don't really have one. I tend to buy what I want or save for something. Last year I gave my son money so he could buy me a gift at our hallmark store, and he loved shopping on his own. I stayed at the front of the store. He picked out a really cute pair of dangly earrings and a life is good mug. He was so excited, and I loved them. We'll do that again this year.

Thanks sskem96 for coaching this week, and thanks 50sJayne for last week. The qotd are so much fun.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi all...just saying hi...I have done nothing...no exercise no eating nothing...I have bronchitis :( will check back in later

Good Monday Morning! I hope everyone is recovering well from the weekend! We had a rather low-key weekend, so no recovery needed for me! I started cleaning DS's room this morning, but I am definitely lacking enthusiasm for the project, so I am hopping on here to waste some time!! :surfweb:;)

I am feeling some really renewed motivation for my weight loss journey, since my big loss on Friday. I wish I could share this feeling with those of you who are struggling right now. If I could, I would bottle it up and send you each a portion of it! Of course, it would be calorie-free and taste great!!

One of the WW "keys" in the past has been "picturing" yourself at your new weight and using visualization to help you. I never thought much about it in the past, but I realize that lately I am FINALLY feeling like I am going to reach my goal and STICK TO IT. I have been visualizing myself still slim and at goal for our next WDW trip (whenever that might be), for DD'd and DS's graduations and weddings, and future things like that. It is sort of unintentional, but I am trying to remind myself all of the things in life that will come up where I will be HAPPIER with myself at a good weight. And some day, when I get the chance, I would like to make myself a motivational poster or chart for the fridge. Something to remind myself just how far I have come.

Is there a new QOTD today that I haven't seen? Maybe it hasn't been posted yet. I forget that not everyone is a morning person like myself!

I posted here yesterday that I was committing to doing my full 4 mi WATP DVD and I did it, plus an additional 10 minutes of circuit training for the upper body. I use 5 lb ankle weights and 1 lb wrist weights to bump up the intensity. I find that committing myself here has really helped. Plus I have been doing the monthly exercise challenges here on the WISH board and they really help keep me motivated. Thanks so much to Goldcupmom for hosting these every month!! If you need some additional exercise motivation, trying joining up next month.... especially if you are the kind of person who likes a challenge!!

Today I am committing to a full 90 minutes at the Y tonight (while I wait for DD's swim practice). I am skipping my home exercise today to spend the time cleaning DS's room... if I can ever pull myself off the computer!!........P

Good Morning,

I am actually happy on a Monday! Shocking, I know!
I finally got into a good exercise and eating grove this weekend! I exercised Fri, Sat and Sun!:cool1: Plus I have a workout scheduled for today too! I think it helped that I got my house organized. Now I can actually find things! :rotfl2:

So, a bit of sad news. Did any of you here about the deaths in Arizona due to the sweat lodges? A woman from MN died Saturday night and it turns out to be my personal trainer's mom.:sad1: I am sad for her. Her mom was only 49! My trainer is the best!!!! I am hoping their is something I can do, to help here through this.

I hope everyone has a Magical Monday!pixiedust:

Good morning everyone! I have a busy day ahead. I'll be back this afternoon to read everyone's weekend posts, but for now...

Monday QOTD: Tell us about your pets.

I have a 2 year old male fawn puggle named Riley (after the guy in National Treasure), a 2 month old black and brown female chihuahua named Daisy (after Daisy Duck), a 9 year old black male cat named Eddie, a 5 year old white female cat named Chloe (both from our pre-Disney naming days!), a hamster named Sabrina (because she's from Siberia), and a fish named Marlin III (obviously preceded by a couple other fish!) Our dogs and cats are all spayed/neutered except from the baby who will be at the appropriate time. Our black cat has pretty much always been our favorite (don't tell the others!), but the new puppy is getting lots of attention now!

I have a shih tzu named Charlie who will be 1 in November. He is spoiled rotten and thinks he's just one of our kids.

Mikamah- I am laying around today, but not eating much. Watching The Christmas Shoes, so I'm crying too! TOM for me too so I have to be really good. Not sure what I'll make myself for lunch. I do think I'll be able to do my Irish Step class tonight. Just gonna take it easy all day so I can do it tonight.
Time to go put laundry in the dryer and start another load and another movie!

Monday QOTD: Tell us about your pets.
Our black cat has pretty much always been our favorite (don't tell the others!),

Trixie- now the oldest, about 12. She was about 6 weeks old and made the mistake of kissing me through her bars at the pound.
9YgusuuT-UEWaIHTQalgVy7z03ixdv8w0060.jpg

Mowgli-- my favorite, very smart, affectionate he and Mickey were on the euthanasia table at the pound at about 5 weeks so I was called and asked if I could foster them. It's been a long stretch of fostering- 8 years.

Mickey. Grumpy, hates his brother hang's in my sons room.

wtrmvFA5CxHBG3NT8MkvXYtinVMZTCdW0060.jpg

Ringo- he is Odie incarnate. (not very bright) He was sick and getting sicker each time I saw him at the shelter, I finally adopted him because he was sneezing blood. Some meds, he was just fine. He was about 6 months old when we got him.
Jql2xTV8461s5A4kmQ89qebKqGM3CcLn0060.jpg

Kiara- goofy calico-- what more can I say? She was also from the pound.

KIARA.jpg

Ricky and Lucy- feral brother and sister. Wickedly awesomely feral took me months to have much physical contact. They are both very skittery but Ricky is a big sweet lug and Lucy likes being petted. Ricky was always very cute 'protecting' his sister from us lol, they still are always near each other.
RickyandLucy.jpg

Jack. Captain Jack if you will. Another feral we trapped at my husbands work. He wasn't as tough but wanted to call him Bela (Lugosi) when we got him because of all the hissing. He is very sweet but spends most of his time outside.
4NLkp2sqKiNL6a5OP4Agre3tBqh2PP0060.jpg

Snowy. Was his day to be euth'd so I took him. From what the animal control officers said he had been abandoned and was starving and completely matted when they were called about him. They put so much work into him- it seemed a waste to just have him die. Plus he was such a beauty and very affectionate.
MkFuwkSY1EaUbek6bFgKgcLj4VAISF-o0060.jpg

Harvey. Someone posted him on craigs list saying they found him in a field and couldn't take care of him as he was bottle feeding. He is probably the general favorite right now. He is a clown- very well intentioned but with a demon in him.
Harveybaby.jpg

Katrina- she's our Halloween kitty found on Halloween the year Katrina hit. she had just given up we think when my husband found her warming herself in front of the pop machine in their smoking area outside. She was about 4 months old the vet said, starved to the point where she couldn't stand and had a hole in her paw the vet could shoot alcohol straight through. Wish we knew how she got that way as she really didn't seem feral. Just dumped probably. Very very loving.
Katrina.jpg

Dorothy. Sometimes known as fi fi... She was by far my saddest case. She was taken from a homeless animal horder that lived in a van with 27 cats, a dog and a few ferrets. Cats had been seized from this person before and he was left with 5 I believe with a promise to fix them all. Well he didn't and these poor cats were obviously all related. There were many deformities (also due to nutritional deficiencies as well I'm sure) They were also living stacked up in carriers on top of each other, with the back of the van being used as a litterbox. Poor old Fi couldn't even walk right when we first got her, she'd slink low to the ground and bump into things. Then as she caught on it was really cute, she would high step like a Russian soldier :-) Many of the cats were euthanized as they had so many problems and were poorly socialized and no introduction to the litterbox but Dorothy was one of the lucky ones. I actually promised my friend who founded the rescue org I was working at (the thrift shop) I would adopt her if no one else would. She really has had no health issues just nails that grow really long, into her foot pads if I don't remember to clip them once a month or so and she's always been pretty thin. Sweetie pie though, kinda daft lol. We keep her inside mostly. She's snowy's bud.
Dorothy.jpg

China. She was a stray kitten that someone found and brought to the thift shop. They didn't take cats from the public though, just from the pound so I had them take her to a pet supply place that took rescues sometimes and put them up for adoption. Visiting her she grew on me...

Well you've seen pictures of Daisy and Ginny so that wraps it up ;-)

Okay, I made it through the weekend, and did journal everything, but I was eating and then journalling. Today, I am journalling before eating, so I've got the day planned out, and may have to add more food in for dinner, but there's still lots of points room left.

Jennz - hope the bronchitis clears up fast:flower3:

Monday QOTD: Tell us about your pets.

Right now, we have one degu (its bigger than a hamster, smaller than a guinea pig, and originated in Chile). We had 2 but one died a month ago. There was 2 girls (Princess and Dot) now the surviving one I call Princess Dot (from Bugs Life).

Happy Monday everyone!!
Well I had my first cheat day yesterday (Sunday) in nearly a year, and THOROUGHLY enjoyed it!! I don't feel guilty at all as it is a once in a blue-moon sort of treat. I actually ate a donut (haven't had one in OVER a year) and it was as good as I thought it was going to be :lmao:

That said, I am back on track. I definitely needed that day as the temptation was growing so strong, it felt good to eat and now it was kinda like..eh..no biggie.

I really enjoy my new healthy lifestyle and don't miss all the good "junk" I thought I missed!

QOTD:
No pets here as DH is allergic. We did have a 55 gallon fish tank up until a few years ago. Just too much to take care of. My parents visit 2-3 times a year and bring their 12 year old cocker spaniel so she's like a pet to the girls. They really want one but our schedule is so crazy that there's no time right now. We did baby-sit a guinea pig for a week in August and the girls spent almost every waking moment down stairs with the guinea pig. They would go directly downstairs every morning and let us sleep which was VERY nice!

I'll try to answer my backlog of QOTD...

QOTD: What type of weight loss program are you following, and how is that particular program helping you reach your goals?
The last BL I started with charting all calories, drinking 8 glasses of water, and exercising 4-6 days per week. I had a lot of success with that, but didn't keep up with the calorie charting. I have a better idea now of what I can eat and still maintain or lose weight. I'm not following a particular program, other than trying to eat healthily, exercising, and weekly weigh ins.

QOTD: Holiday wish list?
For a few months now our plan was to buy an add-on for our DVC. The economy has me second-guessing that plan. Our jobs are relatively secure and we have emergency savings, but I just feel like that money might be better spent/saved. We know we want to move in the next year and should really save up more for that. Now I don't know what's on my wish list. I need to come up with something fun for myself - the past year for birthday and Christmas I got practical gifts, which were appreciated, but I feel like I need something else.

QOTD: Pets?
None. My family has never really been pet people. :confused3 AND I'm allergic to pretty much everything.

Monday QOTD: Tell us about your pets.

Well.... DD has two guinea pigs that, as predicted, I end up taking care of most of the time. She has just kind of outgrown them. But they are pretty sweet. Two girls... Moonlight and Spot. She got them for her birthday (from her stupid parents :confused3) when she turned 10 I believe, so they are about 4-5 years old.... general life expectancy is about 5-8 years, so they are past middle age.

Only other pet at the moment is a cat. Her real name is Lucky (as in "she was so lucky that we took her in and saved her from a cold, lonely winter outside") but we usually call her Schmoody. She is a real love. Not a lap cat, but will come over for a scratch behind the ears or a belly rub. She is a stray we took in about 4 years ago. We had another cat at the time and they didn't get along real well, but they did tolerate each other. Sadly, our other cat died about 6 months after we took in Lucky... so we were back to one cat. Then we took in a cat who needed a home from a niece who was moving. He was a big brute and when he disappeared just a few months after we got him, there were no tears shed. He wasn't a real pleasant cat to be around, but he was a SUPERB hunter.

I wouldn't mind another cat (or two), but DH isn't fond of the idea, so it won't be happening unless the cat practically falls into our laps. I'm so jealous (and impressed) with all of Jayne's pound rescues. Just watching those ads on Animal Planet about the ASPCA makes me so sad.... I think my heart would break if I ever actually entered a shelter! And I would probably come home with a car full!!

Well..... I never got back to cleaning DS's room. I ended up working on a web page project for DS's Robotics team and here I am, several hours later, not even dressed yet! Guess I had better get moving....................P
